  • Are you sure this is from 1940?!

  • In addition the clip from "Fantasia" where he introduced the soundtrack, I have the LP that I got at Goodwill yesterday, and it's another stereo demonstration record on the Project 3 label and it's a stereo test record. This is even way better compared to the "Soundtrack" part used in "Fantasia". It was produced by Enoch Light, and this was the album where you can test the balance of your stereo including high & low frequencies and many others. It had the orchestra part on the other side.

  • "Every beautiful sound also creates an equally beautiful image."

This is the rule I've lived by ever since i first watched the movie at age 2. I'm 18 now and I've played lead electric guitar since my sophmore year.

I can't stand today's music(rap, pop, R&B) because it truly is a sound with no image to it. You can't just slap some bland lyrics to a generic beat and call it music. You seriously have to have that visual inspiration and that raw power of a real instrument to make it true music.

  • HEY

    THAT'S NOT DEANS TYLER'S VOICE

AT LEAST THE LASERDISC AND VHS OF THIS HAS HIS VOICE

  • yaaaay, i love the soundtrack :D its my favorite part of the fantasia film ^_^

  • i love the bassoon. beEn playing for 5 years :D

  • The Bassoon looks like a big stack of tongues!

  • I find it funny how the trumpet and basoon scared me when I was younger.

  • ha the basoon made me laugh cos it sounded like a raspberry I used to rewind it just so I could watch it again

  • Same here it made me lol every time.

  • @MewYuki23 The bassoon scared me too! But I like its sound now. Planning to learn how to play it soon hopefully, lol

  • i thought that this was so funny as a kid.

  • i agree with interex, when you've been raised on the original deems taylor, you can't really accept anyone else!

  • i love this when i was a kid still do and its still awesome

  • haha it always used to make me laugh when the edges of the bassoon noise flapped on the low notes!

  • same here

  • Me too I think its probably cos i associated it with a tongue

  • 2:34 - The Brown Noise!!! LOL

  • OMG! ITS THE SOUNDTRACK! i love the soundtrack!

  • Those are some swingin' drums!

  • i think u can tell that deems taylor had a way with words in the 40's that corey burton can never truly reproduce. Even like the laugh at the end of this clip. can anyone simply imagine a laugh other than taylor's after watchin the original version so many times? i'm disgusted!

  • Go on! Go on, Soundtrack! Drop the other shoe, will ya?

  • shy soundtrack, hahaha. i love fantasia!!

  • Beethoven described.....??? AARRRRRR what was it he described!!!!. im overloading with suspense

  • Try reading the caption *after* the movie ends. It's the countryside where Ludwig was known, and where he spent a great deal of his time as well.

  • lol

  • I used to rewind just this part and continually just watch it over and over agian =P I thought it was just the coolest thing...

  • Me too! ^_^

  • :D

well this and the Night on bald mnt.

:( they don't make cartoons like this anymore

  • i have an original version on vhs and the dude sounds a lot deeper and sort of hoarse. what's the deal?

does anyone know if this is on dvd yet?

  • It was on DVD a few years ago but it went into the Disney Vault. If you wondering why the dude's voice sounds different is it was redubbed by Corey Burton. It was done because Disney somehow lost the voice track for Deems Taylor.

  • @tscastro114 But when it was released on Blu-Ray last year, it went back to the Vault again. I have this film on Blu-Ray with "Fantasia 2000".

  • @GEWildcatRocks So do I.

  • I Can't beleive it's uncut! Is it really uncut footage?

  • One of my favorite parts.

    *drum sounds* ....*ding* XD

  • This is odd the bassoon played the Bb then stopped!

  • The original narrator was better. His voice was deeper and had a better tone.

  • His voice sounds different because it was redubbed by Corey Burton. It was done because Disney somehow lost the voice track for Deems Taylor.

  • I was wondering why they redubbed it.

Fortunately, I still have the VHS with the original narration.

  • I have the 1991 VHS tape with Corey Burton as Deems Taylor. The original Deems Taylor narration can be found on the "Fantasia" DVD.

  • May I ask where? Is it an easter egg, or a special feature?

  • oh! how unfortunate... Deems Taylor's voice is much more interesting to listen to...

  • Deems' dialogue was useless and might have been destroyed in the late 1950s-early 1960s. If you can find a way to imitate Deems Taylor of find ANY ARCHIVE FOOTAGE of Deems Taylor, can you PLEASE get it on DAT and send it to me?

  • I agree! His voice seemed to fit better for some odd reason.

  • The percussion bit cracks me up lol

  • i love this part of the movie. but in the movie i have the narrator's voice sounds a little different and it didnt show him when he was narrating what act was coming next. can someone explain that to me? is this like a special edition of the movie perhaps?

  • This was the restored uncut version of Fantasia. If you wondering why the dude's voice sounds different is it was redubbed by Corey Burton. It was done because Disney somehow lost the voice track for Deems Taylor.

  • that's so silly that they'd redub the voice. i like the vhs version is better

  • that's wild! I was wondering why he sounded different! I liked the original better also!

  • when i was little this part used to scare me, it was just so weird and eerie with those sounds out of nowhere0.0....

thankfully i'm kinda over it lol

  • Many parts of this movie used to scare me for some weird reason, but in a good way, I always liked it...lol. Same with many parts of various Disney singalongs.

  • lol, specifically Rite of Spring and (especially) Night on Bald MountainO_O...

  • *lol* Right!...and for me, some parts of Tocatta and Fugue (the first, abstract segment)...and probably other parts. XD

  • The only print that is the best to buy is the 1990 VHS because it has Deems Taylor's original recordings.

  • Their are more parts on myspace.
