it's OK if you have a big enough fan and the air is coming from outside. the second one will be just a little warmer though. a 6" inline pushing through and a 6" inline sucking out would be plenty. use 6" or 8" diameter air-cooled shade duct hook-ups.
Any HID will throw off about as much heat as the equivalent in watts of an electric heater. air-ooled reflectors with fan speed controls that are linked to the temperature can help to keep the perfect environment in the grow. HPS and MH are the best bet for HID lighting.
Huh, I didn't realize that Barricade would help plants weather cold temperatures. It makes sense now that I think about it.
I guess that's why my tomatoes stayed green and kept growing more fruit after we had a couple cold snaps last autumn that killed the neighbor's plants.
I am a BIG fan of Barricade, not only because it is so highly concentrated and works great for pH, but because by supplying the plants with this highly pure silicate through their life cycle, the dreaded Powdery Mildew can be avoided in later phases...Hallelujah!
Your methods seem sound, and would be good for others to try. Because it is so highly concentrated, an excess of Barricade may cause Magnesium lock-outs due to highly elevated Potassium levels..you can add 1tsp of Epsom Salts per Gal.
I've been using Barricade as a PH up for a while now and it seems to work good. I sometimes use 3-5 times more Barricade than my Feeding Schedule recommends and was wondering if this is OK?
Also, I've read that the medium for soil growers tends to become more acidic over time, so I've taken to adjusting the PH of my Feeding Solution to its upper limit of 6.8 to minimize this effect (My PH meter is not for soil).
Will this work in preventing the soil from getting to acidic over time?
becareful of ice buildup around the out take,,, nice indicator for the man

really great is having 2x600W HPS and heating each with hot air from second air :)

Will a 500W HID give as much heat as a 500W heater? Seems like having the extra lumens would help growth as well as heat the room.
