You're very concerned with the followers tipping up, but under what circumstances would a follower tip UP? If the follower slips past the slide stop you would be in trouble, as you wouldn't know the gun was empty, and you'd have to rip the mag out, but the follower still wouldn't tip up. If you do another mag test, check out the Check-Mate Industries competition 8-rounder; I think it's the best 8-round .45 mag on the market.
Your comments on the Wilson Combat Mags are dead on. I had the same problem with failure to feed. I have a Dan Wesson CCOB, and when you load the mag in with the slide to the rear, and you release the slide, it would fail to feed.
@JamesDBlanc I know you said 9 round mag but i have 2 ten round mags. one from kimber and one from wilson combat... both are very nice. but the wilson combat is slightly better
Excuse my English. I hope you understand: thank you for your technical information about the Chargers (magazines) and especially the relationship with the springs.
i think so all i know is there very easy to load and there made solid! there like 30.00 but there woth it. they fit my springfield gi and all kimbers perfect. my colts a little fussy.
What do you know or heard about the ACT-MAG"s for the 1911 pistols these mags are made in italy & are sold by Natchez shooting supplies, which is a large great company &I have been dealing with them for many years
My uncle swears by Natchez's... The ACT-MAG's look just like the old style Mec-Gar mags and would probably be a good choice for a 1911 / 1991 that is being a problem child.
question when I orde rmags from mec gar how do I know & they know which ones to send me old style or new style how can they tell which is which do the old style have different part numbers etc do you know what I mean please let me know thanks great videos very informative
the old style ones have steel followers the new style ones have plastic followers. I don't have the product number on hand so I will have to get back to you on that one.
I have a Springfield GI that I upgraded to essentially handle and fire like a Kimber Warrior. It's now, by far, the best pistol I own and three times the worth to boot - and I only feed it with Wilson Combat mags when I want to get serious. Great vid!!
I have at least a dozen McCormick mags. They failed misserably in my colt but I have yet to try them in my SA 1911, my bet is they will work fine in my Springfield.
If the spring tension is too high just clip one coil off of the bottom of the spring.

Does anyone make M1911 magazines that holds 9 rounds? I've heard from a friend that they do.

what mags do you recommend for an AO 1911? because my two cheap mags have given me some issues on the last round.
out of 200 rounds my AO jammed 4 times, 3 were mag related though. the other one was a stovepipe...oh well...shit happens.

Yeah the new Colt 45 auto's have been giving me issues, the older ones seem to be made right though.

Excellent review. I have some of the Chip McCormick mags and have had no problems with any of them in my Kimber TLE II or my SA Mil-Spec.
