  • I always wear those same latex gloves when I work on my 6.2l and they're a pain in the ass cuz they catch on the smallest thing and tear off ur hand :P lol

  • @ChevyDieselBoy I find the blue ones by far the best! And I double or triple them up

  • @CORVAIRWILD Yes the blue ones are great! I should start doubling up cuz I go through like 5 pairs each time i work on the old girl. lol

  • @ChevyDieselBoy When I do sewer work, I put on 5 pairs. The black ones are too thick, and don't flex nearly as well, and tear easy!

  • Pine cones were a standard feature with every air cleaner back in the early 1980's. :)

  • lol at 1:32 some leafy thing almost fell into the air intake!

  • My friend had a 85 Blazer with the 6.2. I though it was a under powered POS, It may go for ever like most diesels but why bother, Small diesels only got worth there weight over the last10 yrs or so . though the cummins would be my first choice for a older diesel even though I don't like dodge . Now the Deramax, that's a diesel worth considering!!

  • very scabby haha

  • injectors or fuel filter

  • do yourself a favor and make your own glow plug controller like I did check my vid. No more cranking and you can glow it for as long as you want.

  • JUNK!

  • thats alot of RUST

  • Change all of the small return fuel lines that go from inj to inj plus off back of fuel pump return line to tank, they crack and leak air. makes cold starting hard. When we got rid of our 6.2 it had over 700k miles (body would not pass inspection). In that time replaced the trans 9x, the alt 7x, the rad 1x, inj pump 1x and that is all. Take good care of it and it will always run even when the epa out law diesels. Which isn't too far away...

  • Kewl story... Too bad no vids... Trans 9x? That's less than 100k... they usually go 150k

  • It was the early days of the 700R4 and they were not really up to the task of the torque of the 6.2. The first lasted till the upper 90k but the rest went in the in less that time. We use to tow a 27ft travel trailer and since the 83 6.2 was only 130hp it use to run full throttle for thousands of miles. Since your truck is so old you could keep replacing parts from the local bone yard forever. You may want to consider using a little 2-cycle oil in the diesel. The injection pump...

  • ...in the 6.2 is a Stanadyne and it does not like the ULSD. So the 2-cycle oil will help it last a little longer. I have a 91 Sub w/ a 350 and plan to up grade it with a mechanical 6.5 DSL so i can work around the 90 shelf life of the gasohol we use now a days. It is time to give up on gas and go to diesel. Good luck

  • Read the responses from the bottom up....

  • @watwace Why outlaw Diesels? They are very good in situations that require torque and they are known to get better millage, this from an Australian who does not really like diesels that much. Just interested.

  • @watwace I still have this junk truck, inside my barn, and it fires up rite away, even after months!

  • hehehe PUROLATOR AIR FILTER?????

  • Nice "SOCKS" and "GLOVES"...sheeeeesh!!!

You know you are a Red Neck when......

  • What Whas Wrong with the truck.?

  • Glo plugs wiring was toast!

  • here is the vids channel

    379v8diesel

  • i would like to ask where to hook up a tach on a diesel? can you help me. i ve got a 3/4 ton pick up 74 im changing over to a diesel would like that feature.

  • may i reccomend that you dont rev it like that when its cold. this ,makes the pistons very hot as the oil take about a min or 2 to get round the engine. i noticed this on my seat ibiza

  • do you see the condition of this truck? i really dont think he cares. i think he bought it as a beater

  • ah i see. well i wouldent do that to an american truck anywayz

  • what's the difference?

  • I got an 85 blazer with the 6.2 in it. when it gets below zero here it takes me about half an hour to get her running.

  • Is that with or without the blockheater plugged in all night?

  • I plug it in but i don't think the heater works anymore

  • Now Yesterday I purchased an inline (diesel electric fuel pump and mounted it near the tank.

It's all plumbed up but I still need to run the eletric.

Oh and I did crack three of the injector lines at the injectors while cranking.

No fuel there so am I on the right track?

Thanks in advance for any advice/help you can provide.

  • Ever get it running? I missed your message, sorry...

  • mine just cranks and cranks, wont start.

I bought it up un Pensacola FL. last week and on the ride home I stopped twice and shut it off and couldn't get it re started until I replaced the secondary fuel filter and re primed everything.

When it runs, it runs Good with lots of power.

anyway, When I got it home I decided to change the primary filter and all the rubber fuel lines that I could get to and it hasn't run since.

  • Hey

I think I SAW YOU ON THE SIDE OF THE road here in Tampa the other day.

At least yours runs I can't even get my 6.2 to run now.

can someone recommend a good mechanic?

  • No such thing as a good mechanic... Tell me what it does, or doesn't...

  • would you use this truck as a daily driver???

  • Nah, might sell it to a friend for a plow TEERUK... Ug

  • what year is the plow teeruk?

  • Hope to, this summer, and maybe convert ta waste veg oil... Ug

  • very nice!

i have seen lots of your videos!you have reale rood cars!i have a FIAT 128 but it doesn't start!can you help me?

  • I'm in souther Florida... R u in Italy? Howz da weather??? Ug

  • I COME FROM GREECE

  • Hah... going to Israel next year, probably Greece too... Really... Ug

  • Try not to crank it for too long. If your always going through starters, That might be why. Ive had times where people just burnout the starter motor

  • Yuppers... Now she's FIXED! Ug

  • why did this truck get so rusty???

  • 1 week of summer, 6 months of winter. And 1 inch of snow, 3 inches of road salt/calcium to melt the ice on the roads. There's lots like it, and much newer! Ug

  • I wish I could find a truck like that.

  • I look ALL da time. Got two more 6.2 4x4's coming from Cal and Texas... Tx has a Banks... Ug

  • A Banks! How much did you pay for that?

  • $2000, including the Teeruk! It's a 4x4, 6.2 3/4 ton, '84. Kinda' beat, but new parts, with bills. I bought it over the phone. Take a chance, huh???

  • you bought a teeruk as well or is it the sub that you bought

  • 2 Subs... Ug

  • Hahaha, that's a $4000 motor, it better live! I paid $400. The guy had bought it new, and had lotsa' money ta waste, even when it was 15 years old... Good 4 me!

Putting another vid up now... Ug

  • does it drive will you be making a another vid if you do can u show it moving that 6.2 diesel wants to live...
