Saw the latest tour in Chicago. It was my first Genesis concert, I'm embarassed to say. Unfortunately, I was surrounded by drunks that seemed to be keen on ruining the show for everyone around them.
This experience did have one postive, although certainly unintended, side-effect: I finally realized that the Genesis that I loved simply did not exist anymore, outside of the original recordings. Banks, Collins, and Rutherford rejected the very music that made Genesis magical and special.
I'm quite sad that is all over. Never got the chance to see them. Hope they will do another tour. They could have easily added 10 to 20 more dates and been sold out each time!
I always loved these guys. Sorry to say i did not like that they opened the Live Earth show with a song about too many people. This is because - for those with eyes - that project is state sponsored social engineering black ops. It ties into Earth First and depopulation. Eco emergency is used to get legal control of nature. Then they will control your access and whether you eat or not. Many of you they plan to starve to death next few yrs. They are using your music gods like pied piper
Yikes! Well, I guess I would call Phil Collins my pied piper. I can't stop listening to his music! I think for the most part. People are smart enough to figure out what our governments are up to. The whole "Green Thing" is an Al Gore baby...Don't trust him as far as I can throw! And, I believe that the bands that lend their talents are smart enough to see past being used for political gain too.
Just a Phil Collins fan stoping by to show the love. Love him in Genesis out of Genesis either way Phil is simply brillant and talanted! Matter of fact I just finnished a letter to Mr Collins will soon be mailing it off I heard he will reply back but it takes about three months or so I can't wait !
He suffers quite badly from vertigo. I thought the look on everyone's face after that was priceless! Who the shit care that Tony Banks has Vertigo! LOL
Actually, Phil Collins is driving a Range Rover. Back when Genesis was touring, Land Rover was owned by Ford until last year when they sold Land Rover to Tata Motors India. I could tell Phil was driving a Range Rover because I know what the steering wheel looks like in a Range Rover.
Drumsticks. He was frustrated that he couldn't play "Duke's Travels" on drums like he did back in 1979/1980 and before he slammed the sticks he said to the guys "this is not your problem, it's my problem". I hope this helps with your answer.
Those were drumsticks. He was angry at himself that he couldn't play the fast drum pattern of "Duke's Travels" like he could on the original recording (Chester Thompson still could as he and Daryl Stuermer regularly still play their instruments on a daily basis). Whoever gave me a thumbs down is obviously blind. I'm a drummer myself and I have to now improvise my playing as I cannot play in same way I did as a teenager/early 20 something. Those were drumsticks he slammed. I
it sounded a lot heavier than drumsticks. and if you watch it again it doesn't look like he had sticks in his hand. not that it really matters anyway. lol

Watching this I just can't help thinking you had to call it Come Rain or Shine.
Great promo with that storm at the end. Excuse the language but seeing that storm I was thinking "Oh fuck" I mean it looks amazing but that stage with lightning. And the fan expectations with the tour name...
I hope it's allot of fun and I also hope whomever is going around and giving all the negative ratings on the comments stops. They aren't bad comments.

you are wrong...Phil Collins has not toured with Genesis since the "We Can't Dance Tour." I don't think Genesis could get away with lying about when they last toured.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Genesis is not the same as Phil Collins.
Genesis has toured without Phil Collins. The last time they toured without Phil Collins was in 1997, with a new singer and a new drummer. They even put out a new album "Calling All Stations", that they now try their best to downplay the existence of.
So Genesis is not Phil Collins. But they can only sell out large stadiums with Phil Collins (or possibly Peter Gabriel)
The person who is scanning all the comments and giving them the thumbs down, I have one question to ask you...What are you doing on a Genesis site, when you clearly don't like them? GO AWAY!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Yeah, I know! haha, I noticed SOO many thumbs down on comments that really should be thumbs UP all the way! I have to admit, it is kind of annoying...here, here, fleetinglance!!

Cheers! It's good to find someone with decent taste and a keen eye. I have hit a nerve with someone, as I have 2 thumbs down at present. The truth hurts eh?
The track playing at 30 secs in, is a section of 'The Knife'. It has been answered already. Peter Gabriel was lead vocalist on it, back in the day. :)

Simo, the song 0-30sec is "turn it on again" :) Does anyone know if this was the biggest ever live concert?? (in terms of Audience size) Genesis have got to be one of Greatest bands ever, especially live.. I would love to have been at this concert, but emigrated in the same week!!
DVD is great value, loads of extras, loads of documentary, loads of concert. My 4 none Genesis fans mates watched the documentary with me and thought it was great, especially button-pusher guy :)
This new dvd is fantastic!!! Even if you are not a fan the performance from the band and the tour documentary is a great insight into what it takes to put on a show of this size.
Can't wait for the LAMB LIES DOWN project, it will be QUALITY!!!!!!

Hey Phil.... you joked you'd be a really good band with just a bit more talent? Sad thing is, you're right.... and Hackett and/or Gabriel would have pushed you guys over the top. 100% false advertising with the term 'Reunion Tour'.

Highlights of this doc:
0:57: Mike Rutherford coming out of the women's room. "All 10 drops!"
1:57-1:59: Phil and Chester's laugh-a-thon.
2:23-2:27: The great Ahmet Ertegun from the great Atlantic Records. "Get ready to kick some ass!"
