Hello Greg, I am "trying" to learn playing guitar (at my age of 65 ).
I am more interrested in jazzy sounds of guitar, but ofcourse with alternative sounds.
I and daubting between the Classic player Jazzmaster and dito Jaguar.
To mymind , the Jazzmaster has more soul in it, warmer and maybe better suited for bossa nova style, but maybe the jaguar does the same.Like I can hear on your videos the Jazzmaster has its OWN typical sound.
Can you give me some advice between the 2 guiitars? Kind regards
@dudejoe64 thanks for tthe reply, do you mean latest work? :L cuz i though he sed it on the by the way album but imm not sure, live i think he uses a telecaster but i dont really like the look of them. :)
@ChiliPeppersAreBoss he used a jag on some of the mothers milk songs i think, but his fav is defiantly his strat. a tele will sound a bit twangy to use i think, but he does occasionally use one live.
Can hardly wait to get my Squier Jagmaster out of the shop.. with a total fret replacement and Seymour Duncan 59-4 conductor's with push/pull splitting capabilities.. haha! Gonna be a rocking momma for sure :-)
@tingly7654321 why do you have to talk like that. He was just making a comment. Totally uncalled for. My 8 yr old song was watching this video to see if he wanted me to buy him this particular guitar and read your comment.
@tingly7654321 AH, you see there in lies the problem. He can look and wish all day long. doesn't mean I'm buying him a $1000 dollar guitar but nice way of changing the subject ;)
I think my husband and myself will be buying him a nice Les Paul epi. He's been playing for the last 3 1/2 yrs daily and has out grown his Squier. He's probably better than most of the video's I've seen of grown men playing so a $1000 dollar guitar won't be that far off in his future.
@tingly7654321 Oh yeah forgot to add, he doesn't know this guitar is $1000 and franlky neither did I until you mentioned it. Don't think there's anything wrong with him looking at demo's of guitars on Youtube seeing as how they're not usually X-rated. But I'm done with this. thank you and have a nice life.
I just read some more on the controls. On the old Jaguar that switch being UP turned on only the bridge pickup. On this newer model it is an ON / OFF switch. If you put it down it cuts everything off. Duh! We were wrong about the switch and how it works.
You had the upper horn switch on "rhythm" or "upper" setting, meaning your lower switches were turned off (take a look at Jaguar user manual or tutorial).
So basically, you played through whole video using neck pickup and rolled off tone (because rhythm setting is just that).
You should redo video using lower "lead" setting, because there you can use both pickups.
I don't know if he realized that or not, but lots of guys including me like the neck pickup turned up to a treble setting to play lead on. It doesn't cut quite as much but it has a thicker mid-range (I suppose more jazzy) type tone to it.
I Really want this guitar, however there is one thing holding me back....the tailpiece :/ I've heard so many stories about strings slipping out etc and it's really annoying because it seems that it is the only downside,,,Is this true? Thanks in advance : )
@BStarkings I owned a Jag years ago and they had this bridge which was like.. a screw on its side. Hard to explain. That bridge drove me absolutely nuts - play a bit too hard (which wasn't that hard) and the string would shift a notch and go way out of tune. However, as you can see from this vid, they've got a sort of Tune-o-Matic in there now. I haven't played one of the newer ones but I'd imagine they'd be a lot less annoying.
I heard that this guitar has the tail piece closer to the bridge than the older versions. Can you still make that kinda sonic youth sound when you play the strings between the tailpiece and the bridge? And do you know how the controls technically work? Thanks dude, hope you can answer me, great video
This guitar sounds fabulous, in fact to my ears, better than many of the more expensive guitars you showcase. Did you do anything different on the equipment set up?
PS: All those switch's look great fun, think I may have to get one.
this music looks like a porn movie soundtrack

Would this be an ideal guitar for playing artists such as red hot chili peppers, if not what would?
ChiliPeppersAreBoss 3 months ago
@ChiliPeppersAreBoss john frusiante played a jaguar on his earlier works with them and it would work great. A strat also works very well.

Why are all guitar demos just bad blues scales? YAWN.
Mabtheist 3 months ago
@Mabtheist Because thats how blues musicians play guitar. Ever heard of B.B. King playing Viking Melodic Death Metal? No, blues musicians play blues.
PBANDSNOW 3 weeks ago
@PBANDSNOW Does that mean that every guitar demo I've ever seen is only done by blues musicians? What a bunch of brosts.

@iraedivine13 Ok nevermind what I said, I got it now.
iraedivine13 1 year ago
@iraedivine13 You can split the humbuckers by rolling the two dials above the pickups,it fades from humbucker to single coil & all points in between.
