My recommendation for the mallet players is to loosen up and let the mallet do the work. I hold more from the second finger than the first with the hand a little more open and let the fingers keep the mallet somewhat under control. If needed, find a heavier pair of mallets for more power. You get a fuller sound, you wont need to lift the mallets so far up, and you probably won't develop any injury from playing so stiff.
hey timpani solo was a little ruff... did he play it by himself both parts or did he go for the top part for him and someone help him out for the staggered quaters?
percussion sucked. i played this piece in chicago symphony hall about a month ago and our percussion nailed it perfectly. and they played behind the band cuz they can be heard. winds were very good. and thats a bad place to play. i thought the walls were gonna fall apart
dude, your an idiot. who are you to say the percussion sucked in the first place? how so? and the hall is so crappy to begin with you can't accurately hear how good or bad any of it is. congratulations on sounding like a tool, job well done
Eh. There were A LOT of wrong notes in the mallets, and the bass drum stuff near the end wasn't very tight, but it wasn't a terrible performance, especially if this is a high school, I can't tell. In all of the unicen mallet parts you can hear the wrong notes easily, it makes those really tough parts. Those hi hats at the end sound nice though, i wonder what they are.
Im sorry, but having ANYONE IN FRONT OF THE CONDUCTOR IS AN ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE IDEA. seriously, who's genius idea was that?

they played up front because that hall's horrible stage could not fit them.
