But George Bush "did" tell the truth. Bush said during the presidential debate (and I remember it perfectly) "folks, his (Clinton) numbers are phony, they don't add up, and he's going to sock it to you in the pocket book." Clinton swore there was no need to raise taxes, but what did he do immediately after taking office?? Hit the American taxpayer with the largest tax increase in U.S. history. That's how he "supposedly" balanced the budget, which we now know was phony since he deferred the debt.

@guyfroml I liked Paul. I thought his intention was good, but like most socialists, didn't realize it doesn't work. I enjoy looking back at statements like these made years ago, because now we can analyze and see the failure of the Clinton administration which was the direct cause of the housing/mortgage crash with his "No IN Just Approve (NINJA) plan thru the 1993 Community Reinvestment Act, which destroyed Fannie and Freddie with his appointed crooks and cronies.

I agree with TerrierToughGuy. Paul Tsongas brought a sense of true intelligence and pragmatism not seen in other serious candidates since Tsongas' candidacy.

I remember Paul Tsongas, he died from cancer and was literally the only Democrat I ever even considered voting for.
