Having a watched a few approach and landings of some other a/cs before this video, I'm still amazed about the relatively quietness of the A380 as it makes its way to touchdown. Lovely music from the flaps as they travel. That's a beautiful vid, buddy. ^5
@Gcmy I wasn't saying it screwed anything up I was just letting you know incase you hadn't noticed. And one more thing it's actually just called landing gear instead of landing gears. A lot of people say that same thing. Just in case you didn't know.
Yes, but with Qantas the difference isn't big on Economy. Do note that the prices for the same route on either a 747-400 or an A380-800 are the same, so whenever possible take the A380 instead, since the prices should be the same (my example is the SYD-SIN route which as the same price displayed in Economy class for both the A380-800 and the 747-400). Prices will be lower on an A330 or a 767. Hope I helped :)
Bienvenue en France Gcmy moi aussi j'adore les avions et les catamaran comme le COTAI STRIP 47.5m il est magnifique et je suis actuellement entrain de faire une maquette télécommandée et je te tiendrais au courant quand j'aurais fini. Aurevoir
im not gonna go back just to verify that nobody said what im about to say but ill say it anyway: the sound of those flaps is absolutely beautiful! its a full-blown mechanical opera!
@xxquiker it really is, I was hoping more long time Boeing customers like British Airways or Air France would've picked up the slack, but instead opted for, in my opinion, the inferior A380. Maybe down the when the 747-8 proves its worth orders will pick up, especially in North America
It's quite obvious that you have a preference for Boeing based on what grounds? What make's the A380 inferior to the 747-8? Engineers at Airbus and Boeing for years have said they appreciate the competition because it helps them build reliable, efficient, safe aircraft and improve on the technology. What both these companies have accomplished deserved to be recognizes as they have both been consistent with their products and producing quality products. The A380 delivers,Go check its performance.
@tedjay First off, I'm entitled to my opinion, if I like Boeing, so be it. 2nd, I'm American, that's an obvious reason why i might prefer them. 3rd, over the decades I think Boeing has been the better innovator, being the company to enter the ORIGINAL superjumbo into service, not airbus. They also did the same with the 737, creating one of the greatest narrowbody aircraft aviation has seen, and beat airbus to it. I agree, the competition is healthy, but I think Boeing has outdone Airbus always.
I was not attacking your view @ all. I was pretty much asking on what grounds? Having said that, Both Boeing and Airbus have their innovations. For example in 1960's Boeing launched the 747, but in 1972 Airbus was the first to launch a twin engine wide body the A300. Airbus was also the first with their A320 series aircraft to utilize fly by wire technology and series commonality (that allows pilots to fly a range of aircraft they manufacture). So both companies are innovative.
@tedjay Also, I have no problem with the A380, I am very aware of its performance, I have books about the aircraft that I have read well. At the same time, I think the 747 is just a better aircraft
I am not doubting the performance of the 747 as well, and for obvious reasons you stated ( you are American) Boeing is your preference. I live in American too, but as an individual that is passionate about aviation, I do appreciate the companies that rival the best. You can only stay the best if you are constantly being challenged, and that's what Airbus and Boeing does for each other. Just as Bombardier and Embraer compete against each other in the regional market. A&B excellent!
@TSBA92 i agree i like the 380 very much but y spend so much money on a 380 ? 747 8 is better , long flights,good airlines, and good stewardess.you are right!!!!!
@Biloutemag old, yes, but how in the world is it decrepit? If anything, its the exact opposite, the 747 has grown to be a better aircraft over years. Don't tell me you actually believe the 747-100 equipped with a flight engineer is better than the 400 which has a digital cockpit that layed the foundations for the 777, or that the 400 is better than the 747-8 which is fitted wiith 787 type technology. Yes, it is old, but not decrepit.
Yeah, it's really quite funny how Airbus markets the A380 as being so super quiet ... but the flaps are just about the loudest I've heard on any aircraft.
Very good video at any rate. Don't find too many full 1080p vids on here.
the mechanism on A380 operate quite loud, like flags, Landing gear doors, they scare people when they are working. Most scary moment is, Touching Down, it sounds like 'BAN' when the plane hits the ground.... but the ride on A380, especially upper deck when cruising is really quiet.. good plane for long-haul flight, i m sure you will have a good sleep on board.
@Gcmy our daughter (16yrs) arrived at CDG yesterday (ex Changi airport) shortly after dawn on Singapore Air A380 so this is a good video to show us what she may have seen herself.
@Gcmy yes I hope to do that in my lifetime! Our daughter is very fortunate to have the opportunity, this visit is a school trip (french studies) and we are all rather jealous
@Neno8403 Its only loud because of the engines being so quiet. You don't realize how loud other aircrafts are. They sound just like this except the engines drown it out.
@ThePiper235 yes I appreciate that now, the engines are very quiet, I note on a320 the flaps are also more noticeable than the boeing 737 but once again this is probably to do with engine noise.
Really smooth camera work. So far the best video from inside the A380 that I can find. 5 * :D I was wondering If you could give me some advice, I am going down to Johannesburg on the Inaugural Air France A380 service in February and I also wish to film my flight. I've noticed that the windows on this plane are very deep and my HDcam doesn't have much zoom on it. Did you need to zoom much to get rid of the window frame or do you think if I press it up against the cover it would be fine?
I used a Digital video camera [Panasonxxx SD100] which has 12X zoom, that makes you able to have a close up to the wingtip. From 3:40 til end, i used small digital camera [FT1] which has wide angle 28mm for shotting the whole wing during taking off / landing.
Yes, A380 wall is quite 'thick', but it doesn't affect the video work. U better use a wide angle camera and press your cam against the window to reduce the reflection.
Go make some video clips on your AF's A380 flight and share with us.
@ GMCy: @ 2:41, It's not for low speed landing, it's to decrease the lift of the planes wings, so it goes down... ( Air now has a longer path on the underside, anders faster above, meaning less lift )
Flaps are devices that allowing plane to travel in lower speed and generate extra lift. In order to generate lift at lower speed, plane need to enlarge their wing size this is how the flap works.
flaps are noisy!!! but the engines are very quiet
