saw blackfoot in orlando in '79 i believe. they did a Skynyrd tribute. i didn't realize at the time that there was any connection

Nah sung by Ricky Medlocke ! This is off First and Last compilation, an excellent record and has some of the best songs the band ever did including some unreleased material. Ricky Medlocke was the bands first drummer but quit in 1970. The album is serious kick-arse and a must have for Skynyrd fans. Blood sad all the tragedy this band faced, and wish Ronnie was around, I'm sure he would have a lot to say about our world and the fucked up state it is in these days.

@getargod24 - lol no they didn't. Rickey wrote this song front to back...start to finish. the beginning of free bird was how it was at the start until fans wanted more....they added the solo part then. UNTIL you know what you're talking about, don't make statements trying to mislead people.
