Oh no question YES! A bigger stall would be great. But for what I have now It works fine. I really only drive around town. No time and money with school to do anything else.
I dont think so if you have it tuned right. Ive heard of guys with 4000 stalls on the street. The ones I hear of is a Yank 3600ss. Of course they are great stalls but cost a pretty penny.
I dont think their THAT gutless, but yes they pretty much are lol not as much as a single cab v8 truck should be. but i give it credit for being able to keep up with the 5.7 dohc v8 of the tundra considering my rims. but i saw a old friend who put a ms3 on his trans am and still daily drives it, so i guess id be good still
True, I knew a local guy that had a single cab short bed truck with a 5.3L. He put a comp cam, 3600 stall, headers, 4.11 gears, and some other stuff. It was very fast!! I was truly amazed. If its a GM LS motor it has potentially.
Lol its a 4.8 silverado that advertises 14 city and 16 highway but iv got a transmission problem which i know for sure takes the mileage down a little, my allignment is off alot and thats not helping me either, and iv got rims which takes it down more. plus my driving may not be the best, but im not flooring it everywhere lol just need to get to places in a hurry all the time. 35 dollars usually lasts me 3 days if that. sometimes less
HA not a chance. LOL, that sucks for a stock truck? what motor is in it? I have a AWD 6.0L that gets around 16 mpg in town and 18 mpg highway.I guess it could be driving habits though
Yes they are stock. No thats not the problem with driveability/waring light issues. Those are from the tune. At the time I did not have the tune completed. Big cams and street driving just dont always go together. That said, I still dont mind driving my car back and forth to class.
hey what all did you put in with the cam? I really like the ms3 but dont know what all i need to get with it. So far I have magnaflow exhaust, pacesetter lt and ory, k&n cai, and a tb bypass. LOVE the cam
Texas Speed has a kit that comes with the cam, pushrods, springs and retainers those are a MUST. I would also put a double roller timing chain, lifters, high volume oil pump and have a good trans because its going to put down some good power. Those will insure a good reliable hot rod.
Around town don't ask, highway I lost 2. I currently get 18mpg. The reason its good is because the torque converter is locked-up on the highway but around town its in and out, so it gets bad. But its a good thing that it unlocks around town because you couldnt drive it a lower stall than a 2800 stall.
Ive got to '02 F-bodies. both oil lights are on and off all the time. My service engine light also comes on and off. Its a MAP sensor code. But I have now fixed the tune.
I got a question here...I've seen the initials "ORY" around on some of these videos never knowing what it means...Does it stand for an Off-Road Y pipe?
MS3 operating rang is 2300-6800 rpm. The MS4 operating range is 2300-6800 rpm. I drive my car on the weekends around town and it is amazingly street able. Also I just got around 18mgh on the highway with it! Stick that in your pipe and smoke it hybrids!
Yes, the trans. is rated to 750hp and HP is related to TQ and TQ is related to HP. My car put down 310rwhp and 320rwtq STOCK. I havent been back on the dyno yet though. I should be around 390-410rwhp with everything so far.
Please dont talk about something that you dont know about. This is a MS3 cam not MS4. The MS4 specs at 239/242, .649"/.609" on 112-108 LSA. MS3 is 237/242 .603/.609" mine is on a 112 LSA. These cams are designed for the LS1 to run on nitrous. Now that that is said yes a larger ci motor would do better, but they would also do better with an even larger cam.
Don't mean to be a dick, but that's a dumb question. A cam is only as good as its supporting mods. You can put a 24x/24x .62x/.62x, 110 lsa cam into a stock ls1 and it will run like shit. Put that same cam into a 408 stroker with afr heads, a fast 90/90, and a 3500+ stall with a good tune and it'll be a beast. The MS3 is one of the better off-the-shelf, bolt-on only cams for ls1 cars. Good performance, good driveability without needing a lot of other stuff. My $.02
An MS4 ranks right up there with the most extreme off-the-shelf LS1 cams. I that cam specs out at 239/242, .649/.609 on a 111 lsa. I'd say the MS4 is as big as I'd go on a bolt-on only car, that or a Polluter, Trex or equivalent. I'm going with the MS3 most likely because I want something a little less insane to dd.
An MS4 is still too large a cam, imho, for a bolt-on only ls1. It specs out (off the top of my head) 24x/24x duration @.050, .61x/.61x lift on either a 111 or 110 lsa. That kind of cam is gonna operate in the 3500-7000 rpm range, and a stock-headed, stock cid ls1 would really hold that cam back.
I think everyone is misunderstanding the 750 hp part. The OP is saying the stage 3 auto trans is rated to 750 hp. I'll say that that's all well and good, but a hp rating on a trans is useless without a torque rating. Torque generated by the motor is multiplied by the torque converter (by the static torque ratio), and is the most important aspect of a transmissions strength. For example, the old Turbo 350's and 400's meant to imply that they could handle 350 ft./lbs, 400 ft./lbs respectively.
just wondering how you got the car to idle like that? I have rarely heard an aftermarket cam with such a distinct thumping sound. Most cams are more of a lot of rumbling. Did you just slid the cam in and it sounded like that or was it tuning, or did you change your bore & stroke?
I love it! If you can get past the car shaking you to death youll be fine.I recommend if you have loud exhaust get something quiet.I have SLP and the thing sound like a drag car(which isnt bad but I set car alarms off constantly.I have stock gears and a stage 3 4L60E with a 2500 stall and it isnt to bad.I drive it to college.Get one!!

I see. Those motors are to small for trucks. I have a friend that had one and it was gutless, he'd have to have it floored to get anywhere.
