  • Man, this is sweet stuff right here! A+

  • This song makes me want to cry unashamedly. I want to share it with people on Social Networking but most people won't get the pain and beauty of this; Anyone who does should count herself lucky

  • @the7thn23rd

    Or himself?

  • Oh man, that's just breath-taking, great poem, great lay! Thanks! I've been hit

  • Great singing and lament to my favorite of the fellowship of the nine.... RIP son of Gondor.

  • Baaah! ;A;

  • This comes the closest so far to what I've imagined, thanks!!

  • I love this song, can you give me the tabs please? @_@

  • It's truly amazing how you create such a middle-earth-like atmosphere only with your voice and your guitar... wonderful!

  • Colin Rudd, Lord of Music, very well done!

No bard of Valhalla or Earth could have captured the spirit of Professor Tolkien's words better!

  • wonderful !!!

  • Much better than that Dutch crap

  • I absolutely love your version of this beautiful song.. At the moment I'm reading the Lord of the Rings trilogy again and remembered that, some time ago, I was listening to another song of yours and that you also sung the Lament for Boromir..

So I came back here.. To find I am still amazed by how well your voice and your guitar fit Tolkiens stories. (:

Thank you so much for your wonderful music, Colin!

    take care **

  • You are amazing, do you have any CDs ? =)

  • The gorgeousness of gorgeosity made flesh.

  • Great.

  • Great Song realy great !

  • peter jackson is an idiot for not putting this poem in the film

  • @TheSisco44

I couldn't agree more! they cut out too manny songs :(

  • @TheSisco44 I wonder if Peter Jackson knows about Colin's work. We should make sure that Peter listen to Colin Rudd work, because something interresting will result of this two genius working together.

  • @felipemaiden13

I think the results would be devasting...Being that P. Jackson main goal would be making money and C. Rudd only want show respect and tribute to the great work of Tolkien. The views of making money and creating something unique always collide

  • @LeinadEstel Yeah, maybe. But I don't think that Jackson just think about the money, the movies were well adapted considering the dificulties that envolve creating in real life what happen in the book. A lot of things that happens in LOTR Peter couldn't film, otherwise, the trilogy would have 12 hours of duration. Talking about the concept of LOTR, Peter wasn't 100% loyal to what tolkien think about his own work, but we can't say that Peter distroyed the concept of the the books.

  • @felipemaiden13

True, I myself like the movie's, love the books. But I didn't say, he did it al for the money, but one of his main goals was the "commercialising" of LotR. (which is to be expected because of the studio's, who put in a lot of money and want to see it worth their while.)

In one of his other video's, I saw that C. Rudd isn't thrilled about P. Jackson, so I don't think the two of them will ever work together or want to work together.

  • @LeinadEstel Yeah, make sense.

  • Could you write the tune to one of my fantasy songs?

  • Thank you for this interpretation of a beuaitiful poem.

  • @AlSidre He says it like it is.

  • Danke Colin Rudd, dass Lied berührte mein Herz.

Boromir mein Held. Colin mein Sänger.

  • this song is so haunting. thanks for posting this video. it sent chills down my spine. well done.

  • You have really captured an inspiring ballad, even if Tolkien wrote the lyrics. I agree with your assessment. Boromir represents all the flaws and weaknesses that make us Human, and still his redemption at Amon Hen inspires so many to understand that every moment of humanity is an opportunity to grasp redemption. He shows that it is never too late to correct your mistakes.

  • that song is absolutely amazing, i can't wait to hear more!!!

  • brilliant. Boromir was one of my favorite charactors in Lotr. He was... human. Great song!

  • Mr.Rudd

this has to be my favorite performance i have seen on Boromir's lament, its just simply fantastic and utterly the best that could ever be seen.

  • You gotta love Youtube for this. Just a great musician who uses his talents to put great music on internet. Not for the profit, just to share his art.

You don't hear stuff like this on mtv ;)

  • Very Nice! (: But I like the tune that the song goes to on the audio book for The Two Towers narrated by Rob Inglis slightly better. =P

  • Ah, Boromir, your greatness will never be forgotten, you were a great representation of humanity, once again a great song Mr. Rudd

  • Fantastic!

  • Masterful

  • You, Sir, are simply phenomenal! Love your tunes!

  • Love it! Thank you so much for you contribution, you're very talented.

  • Wow. I expected to be disappointed but, surprisingly, this is really good! ^^

  • This is absolutely perfect, exactly the way I imagined it to sound on my first reading of LoTR!

  • These Songs are great. Are they available to download or buy on CD?

  • I came across this on ToRn precisely at Boromir's death scene as I was watching FotR. It is a beautiful tune that does justice to Tolkien's words.

  • Rofl Mao

  • Slava!!!

  • Thank you so much for doing this, it is amazing!

  • Great song!

  • !!! My favorite song from the books! It's done so wonderfuly, I don't think it could have possibly been better. Amazing!

  • u wrote this tune? excellent! in an odd way, rather authentic too, they would have kept the music simple and heartfelt.

  • Most excellent sir - a wonderful addition to the Master's legacy and a great joy to all of us who love his fine words.

  • Jrr Tolkien was brilliant and showed how Boromir's inner conflict and pressure can do to even the mightiest men. Colin great job!

  • Sorry...I seem to have accidently stepped into games workshop unplugged

  • Even though he's only in the first movie, Boromir has always been my favorite character of the trilogy. "I would have followed you, my friend.... my captain.... my king..."

  • Wow, this is fantastic. I've always loved the Lament for Boromir and you certainly did it justice here. I'll be checking out your other videos for sure!

  • Beautiful! a fitting tribute for a heroic son of Gondor!

  • Man,I'm speechless. I never thought I'd hear the Lament of The winds sung like that. Bravo!

  • Awesome! Good to see something done in honor, of the true Son of Gondor!!!!!!!! God bless & Merry CHRISTmas.

  • :D Reminds me of Gordon Lightfoot. Which is awesome! Nice work.

  • Very melancholy yet excellent! Poor boromir....

  • Beautiful tribute, sir. Congrats!

  • Boromir is my hero forever!

And this is my favourite song from the book. I was crying when i was reading it for the first time.

This is a beautiful tribute to him, thank you.

  • Beautiful.

This was the first Lord of the Rings poem I recited, and I have always been wondering what kind of music should go with it. Now I believe this is it.

  • Thank you or this song, Colin. Could you tell me the chords for this song so i could try to play this at home.

  • Boromir!

if we had boromir at helms deep the uruk hai would have dropped like flies.

  • @GAZIZBAK

Well with Aragorn, Eomer and the Eorlingas the Uruk-Hai and Dunlendings fell like flies too.

  • This is art. Thank you very much. Hope you can keep on singing for many years to come.

  • gänsehaut...einfach nur gänsehaut....

    brilliantly arranged:) congratulations from germany:)

  • so youv put music to the songs the characters sing in the book? Brilliant idea!

  • can anybody tell me where to download his songs? these are amazing!

  • The texts are from Lord of the Rings, but the music belongs to Colin Rudd. I'm sorry, but they are not made for commerce.

  • Boromir was nearly my favourite in the books, right behind his brother... I loved the song in the book tho, and this is just amazing...fantastic job

  • Boromir: Favorite character in the series.

  • Awesome, i agree that Boromir is a great character.

  • Absolutely fantastic!

  • Bravo! Bravissimo!!

  • BRAVO BRAVO that was great

  • This is fantastic! A simply brilliant version of the song. :D

  • I think this is one of Tolkiens most beatyfull son and I love the way you preform it.

Can you do that about the patring of Beren and Lúthien.

    You kno

  • Where I can buy your CD? I'm from Finland.

    Your songs are so great!

  • u should make an ablum in like dead serious this is great if u did i would buy it

  • Hail borimir the brave

  • This is simply beautiful. Thanks for making these!

  • Its more awesome actually, when reading the book i find it very hard to appreciate the songs and poems that are written down, simply as i dont know the rhythm etc, but performances like this really demonstrate the meaning of the song, and the sadness of the song, and the passing of boromir!

  • Awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  • brilliant

  • Greetings Colin. I must say this version is truly awesome, aproximately one of the most fitting tune to the song I've heard yet.

    Great work!

  • Comment removed

  • The Lament for Boromir is my favorite song from the books

you made it sound very beautiful

    thanks for that! ^^

  • Mr. rudd i want to apologise for the scornfull things i said to you and about you. I know i do not desirv your forgivness but i would like you to know i'm sorry, what you do is art and please don't stop.

    T

  • just wonderful

  • This is epic.

  • mr Rudd....a wonderfull song! its a honour for my great hero J.R.R. Tolkien he would be proud of the song!

  • Yo Colin! You rock dude!

  • What a wonderful lament for brave Boromir! You played it beautifully. Kudos to you.

  • Hi from Bohemia, nice song.

  • Love it, a beautiful and poetic song, sung and played wonderfully by you =) Congratulations!

    Greg

  • wow this is great !!! the lament for Boromir is so utterly beautiful. I love Tolkien.

  • Colin....you are the poetic songster supreme...you should have an album out! I love the haunting melodies and the epic lyrics of olden times....

  • Beautiful. Even more beautiful than I imagined it to be!

  • Colin, hear me when I say this, because I mean it with every ounce of dedication that I bear for the epic work of J.R.R Tolkien: That was absolutely breathtaking and amazing, all respect to you my friend.

  • More beautiful than I'd ever immagined.

    5/5

  • You left the East Wind to me...but I will say naught of it.

  • Amazing.... truely amazing

  • Well sung. Personally I'd say Boromir symbolize somewhat of the numenorans' pride, but pride and honour alike are fetters that can strangle a man with a mind of Boromir. He acted evil for a cause he believed good. A metafor: He'd have killed a baby to save ten others, but when they'd grown up they'd become murders like the man who saved them. Boromir tried to take the ring to save his peopled - which, for a short while, it would've, untill that it'd corrupt it's bearer and lead them to darkness

  • No, Aragorn didn`t tell them. But your right, Boromir`s dead is indeed something we can talk about forever. But we both see his death different and that is no shame. We both can have a different view of his death and both be right. Beside your oppinion of Boromir his death I completly agree with you :)

  • Boromir is the one we can all relate with. It is what Colin Rudd says: "he seems to mirror our own frailties and strengths."

DarkSavior I understand what you are saying, but I disagree. Boromir died to show his greatest strenght not his greatest weakness.

Great song, thank you for making this. 5Stars!

  • It is alright to disagree. The thing with books , which is what I base all of my opinions on, is it is free to interpretation, and Boromir's end is one that Tolkien fanatics can speak forever on. Boromir was a great man and as I said his story is the tale of courage since the ring laid its claim on him and he was able to redeem himself by his sacrifice for Merry and Pip for this reason, I believe, Aragorn did not tell the company of Boromir trying to take the ring :)

  • This was exactly how I pictured the song being sung..well without the music. Boromir is my favorite character in the book because of how easily he was tempted by the ring, subcomb, and redeemed himself, saving the hobbits whom he cursed moments before. Truly, his tale is the story of courage. Many wonder why I think that Boromir should have died. It is simple. Boromir needed to die to show the readers the treachery of the ring.

    5/5 and on my favorites.

  • this is just so great, you are a the man!

Hail to the Bard of Boromir!!!

  • amazing dude. Boromir will be always our hero! of Gondor!!!!

  • nice dude, rock on. 5 stars and on favorites

  • Very beautiful, bard. We thank you.

  • cool stuff man, boromir is awesome

  • Hey draconicon2, hold your horses there!!...Tolkien wrote the lyric but I wrote the tune!!

  • My apologies. That was what I meant about that. Sorry about that. Meant the lyrics were tolkiens.

  • @colinjohnrudd love your version of this. LIsten to all i have found here of your tolkien song...but this is my favorit...great work!

  • @colinjohnrudd Impressive

  • This is a really great song, melancholy but really excellent!

  • Bloody Briliant!!! did you right this yourself mate??? Outstanding!!! Im really liking the folk side to this... you doint see that much anymore... Briliant!!! Hail to the Bard of Boromir!!!

  • Actually, this is a tune that Tolkien wrote himself. You can find it in the written works of the Lord of the Rings. Aragorn and Legolas alternated singing it, Aragorn doing the west and north winds, while Legolas did the South wind.

  • Where can you download this?

  • thank you for the link. that was great!

  • Truly your songs are awesome ! I just subscriebed you on my profile :) Awesome, and Thank You ! Bard of Boromir, Bard of Middle-Earth ! Cheers ;) Hail !

What else can I say? ^-^

    Thanks :)

  • I love that song! I know Boromir is a great character in the book and the movie... well thanks for sending me the video

  • wow, this is awesome. really. I loved it.

  • Excellent!!!!!! 5 stars

  • wooooow! great!!

  • You have captured perfectly the soul of Tolkien's great work, and you have captured my heart as well. With both melody and words you have cast my mood back thousands of years to what the world may have been like in the days of Middle-Earth, were the tales of Tolkien true. Your voice is truly beautiful, and I thank you for showing to the world this powerful reminder of the ancient magic that lay within Tolkien's works, and the beauty of poetry that was so neglected in Jackson's films, as thrilli

  • ...the beauty of poetry that was so neglected in Jackson's films, as thrilling as they were.

  • Well I don't know what to say, but that basically sums up when I think of you and this video too. Awsome beyond words... Well except the words this genius has provided me with to leech off of. XD

  • Great job....I love it. Boromir really does mirror our own strenth's and frailty's.

  • Beautiful, amazing perfection! I love it!

  • Holy COW, you made me just about cry!!!

  • So nice! <3 You have very nice voice :D

  • I love how this uses the original text from Tolkien's classic books! Great melody too!

  • I have a deep respect for your work. You have a great voice, and it's just amazing that you sing with such love for the works of JRR Tolkien. I think the Professor would be proud of you.

  • Glad to hear a song about my favourite LOTR character. Cheers Colin mate, great rendition of Lament of the Winds. You really captured that 'essence' of Boromir - lone, stoic and perhaps, misunderstood and undervalued - in your guitar work.

    Class playing dude.

  • definitely better than the jackson movies lol

i've just watched a few videos from them

    nice to be back here

  • yeah i must admit you have a point about boromir mirroring our own frailties and strengths.

but we have a divine part as well, represented by the elves and "high" men.

and of course the orcs are no strangers to us.

Your singing produces an effect akin to tolkien's books reading. A "tingling". Invocation in fact.

  • You're such a romantic....with a poetic heart and a real storytellers empathy.....acoustic music never sounded so good!

  • Beautiful <3

  • Bravo. Boromir was a wonderful character. Lovely tune.

  • you're a true bard Mr Colin, Master Tolkien would be proud

  • Of course, lyrics from J.R.R. Tolkien.

  • did you make up the tune yourself? it's beautiful.

  • P R E C I O U S!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations, it´s wonderful, and I love Boromir and his brother

  • Fantastic! Great music for an afternoon of pints at the pub.

  • Sleep well Boromir.

  • Boromir was the best! this song is in the book! great!

  • This is just beautiful...Boromir was my fav. Character. This is so amazing, you make me cry...

    5 Stars!!! :D

  • amazing :]

  • beautiful

  • beautiful

  • great song. Chance is an idiot

  • I applaud you, Mr. Rudd. You have a great voice and this song is wonderful. As for Chance111123, he should be pierced by five Orc arrows and then we'll see how he behaves.

  • yopu have a nice voice for ballads dude ;/ sound like you came right out of the Middle Ages!

  • I definetly agree with this guy.

  • Beautiful! Thank you for sharing your talents with the world. I can't wait to listen to more of your music--you are inspiring. :)

  • the song is really pretty

  • The whole goal of writing is to envoke emotions from the reader, as Tolkien has done in this song. A writer knows he has done his job when people react in such a strong way as cry. Be a little more open chance.

  • He makes that opinion of you because you are acting very immature. You can express yourself without cursing or blatantly attempting to offend someone. I know that, despite anyone's attempt and getting to you, you will continue to post such rude comments because it is what people such as you do, but please do it elsewhere.

  • I love it when people humiliate themselves. It saves me the trouble.

Keep on making music Mr. Rudd, and I hope you don't get any more daft commentators on your videos.

  • I applaud you as well, Witangemot, for making a comment which was actually intelligent and worth reading.
