dude, I'm a child of the 80s. Checkered Vans shoes, Sweet Valley High books, switching from Betamax to VHS tapes, acid washed everything, leg warmers, Big earrings and shoulder pads. Mall hair/big bangs. Popped collars. NKOTB.
fads i remember from my childhood are plat form sneakers , bay-blades, tamagotchis, colored hair streaks, gap sweaters , bratz dolls, sneakers with wheels, lips smackers and the edible ones ,cotton candy perfume, fish :)
O= when you first mentioned the power wheels / cars... i laughed! growing up, i wanted a barbie car soOo bad, but i never got one, but i would always ride them at toysrus lolz ironically i actually work at a toysrus and i still think those cars are pretty cool! (: great memories...
A couple I remember are those coloured rubber bracelets that started off innocent and then were banned in schools because ppl were saying each colour represented a sexual favor. And those choker necklaces that looked like a tattoo i guess...cant explain it! But they were plastic and I think u could get them out of gum machienes...OMG and the curly shoelaces that u didnt have to tie!
@fluzwu yeah I love it! I didn't see the point at 1st, but living in the city, it's sooo much easier than carrying a computer around. Plus, it's so fun
Lol! Same thing for Harry Potter but that's happening right now for me (giggle) I'm in 7th grade and I've been obsessed for about a year now? I'm not really sure. Fads used to be tomogatchi, stickers, yugi-oh, pokemon, pencils being like an inch long, and some other things. last year/grade 5 it was those shirts with a comic on it, I can't remember what they're called. I never liked pokemon, the shirts, or the pencils. oh and webkinz
Spice girl dolls at Target.Scented stickers.Pokemon.Harry Potter on vhs/dvd 3rd grade. i want silly bandz but everyone has differnt price, payless sells them lol
i was OBSESSED with pokemon, but it was cuz my older bro played it all the time so i liked it like 2 years before they became popular&by the time they got popular, i was already over em then i tried to get into yugi o or however u spell it, but it seemed stupid to me i played the pokemon game with my brother, and had to binders of them. 1 binder was for the really rare cool "shiny" ones, and then the other one was for the stupid ones i had like a million of. i also loved the movies and tv show.
I WANTED THE TOYS R US CARS TOOO, but it was weird because i neve rwanted the barbie one, i liked the boy ones..which is weird because i did like barbies at the time ...and i still want one soooo badlyand i alwayyyyssssss and still do love the squishy stickers, but didnt know about the other ones u said...
Definately Heelys. Tomagachi's (spelling?) LiveStrongs/other bracelets with words on them. Yu-Gio Pokemon Cards Pokemon Games (for sure) light up shoes are cool till like 2nd grade. BeyBlades!! (aww, good times) Beanie Babies TechDeck Kirby (the game) That's all I remember....
are you originally from london? spice girls were my jam and i used to make dances up to all their songs... i loved baby because we have the same name, and sporty spice. pogs were a huge fad when i was young! pokemon too... no one i knew ever played the game, just traded them. then furbies. then later on those jelly band bracelets were huge. OMG I HECKA REMEMBER CRAZY BONES. i so forgot about those til now. then hollister meant you were cool. and i HATE SILLY BANDS ahhhh. okay done!
when i was little pokemon was a big deal, and yogi-o? (idk how to spell it) and so was having a bike (it was a big deal in my neighborhood) idk if this is a fad or not, but britney spears was a big one i guess, me and my sisters and all the girls our age in my neighborhood were obsessed
@swifters100 Brittany Spears was huge for me too! I forgot so many fads- it's probably better off though. I think my video would be insanely long if I remembered them all
- pokemon cards
- slap on bracelets
