It's about time that we have equality in fashions and clothing, after all it's now 2011 NOT 1890 men should be able to enjoy the same freedom to wear what they wish from skirt's to dresses, High heels or what ever. Remove Gender from clothing let human beings wear what the wish and allow men to be softer and feminine if they wish and the others fashion freedom and stop
Last month at J C Penney I got a dress that was not too girly. Part of my problem is all the dresses are in the womens department. Sort of like skirts there is a style called trouser skirt that is not too girly so what I got was a shirt dress and I have worn that shirt dress all day a few days already.
@calif92627 Is a trouser skirt like a pair of culottes? I'm Australian & live near a small, inner state city & I'm sure that many guys would be discriminated against for wearing dresses &/or skirts. I've been told that it's different in Texas, USA - I don't know which country you live in, but maybe J C Penney's is American? Have you been discriminated against for wearing your new shirt dress?
@darkallegiance666 Totally not familiar with culottes but a quick search turned up something like nickers. Totally not. A Trouser skirt looks like trousers from the crotch up with a zipper, pockets and belt loops. A Trouser skirt is not back zip not elastic waist. As for the shirt dress there have been no problems but no complements just yet. My best advice is to go with a knee length denim or heavy fabric in navy or brown and get to town. Like That is bloke in Perth.
Personally, I would like to be able to wear skirt or dress like fashions. Not to look like a girl or to be feminine. Because they are comfortable and appropriate for some situations. Hmmm, the idea of being part of the early market in mens skirted fashion. Time to think about that.

@Gustav92069 Why would you want to remove gender from society? Gender was something that was created long long time ago before you even existed. After all, no modern law is stopping you from what you want to wear. If you're gay, then go be gay. If you're a lesbian, then go be a lesbian. But do not tell nature or the people that the name of "sex" should be removed.
Im guessing whoever creates "mens" skirts will make a great deal of money! If men find skirts more comfortable, then they should by all means enjoy wearing them. However, it seems men and women like their apparel to be different from each other, so mens skirts should be different from women's skirts somehow.
@gwenshin What an interesting idea!!! I would love to see some different types of skirts, made especially for men. I wonder what they would be made out of, and what they would look like.
@gwenshin "Should be different from women's," you are in error--your notion would deny use of certain styles to men who like them. Individual differences in dress---not along gender lines. As long as men present as men, there should be no style restrictions. Limit yourself, don't propose to limit me or others. Only difference men need from women is facial hair--and only diff women need from men is plunging neckline to show cleavage. Let anyone wear any skirt style they personally prefer!!
@skirts365 Most men and women PREFER their clothing to be different than the opposite sex. I guess if I was marketing clothing, I'd try to give the majority what they want, since it's all about profit. However, there is no law that states you cannot buy or wear anything that makes you happy and comfortable. Whatever blows your personal skirt up.
@gwenshin And why is that? Only since it's been drilled into all of us! The preference by women that their clothes differ is expressed in FORBIDDING men to wear anything except PANTS & drab styles! They want to be tropical fish & demand men look like undertakers! That's so STALINISTIC. Men who "think" that should be the case ("we can wear Utilikilts since the colors are DRAB but we can't wear square dance petticoats") are only cheating themselves out of variety. Present as man = sole issue
@skirts365 Personally,as fars as men wearing bright colors, my personal tastes might lean more towards the uniforms the Beatles wore on the cover of their Sgt Peppers album for example. Masculine, yet bright and bold. It all depends on the image you want to project. To each their own.
@gwenshin "For one thing, extreme age is indicated---on the order of 6,000 years"--Spock to Captain James Tiberius Kirk, in reference to owner of planet Holberg 917. For color, see the British Beefeater regiment that guards the Tower of London, in costume predating "The Great Masculine Renunciation" caused by the French Revolution, Puritanism, equestrianism, the Industrial Revolution, and the very, very regrettable rise of psychiatry, the dismal pseudo-science.
Oooh! I just LOVE wearing long skirts! Divinely comfortable, well ventilated, more than a little stylish... True, some people think I'm a little strange at times, but I don't usually need a skirt to give that impression...
Being of Scottish origin, I would love to wear a dress. However in the part of the globe where I live, it is just not mainstream yet. If everyone else did it, I would too. I just don't want to stand out.
@Fooblestheclown Don't tell me that you not only play guitar, ukelele and keyboard, but the bagpipes too??? As well as doing animations and having a great sense of humor?? And painting murals?? You are one multi-talented guy!!! Better than Krusty and Bozo any day.
