@kafata1 yes they do, but he is being a hypocrite to some degree. For example, in science all the atomic masses of atoms comes from the average of their Isotopic masses. Scientist have to observe all these Isotopes. Why is it he isn't also talking to educated Creationist, such as doctors and research scientist? How can he say he follows the laws of science if he does not follow the scientific method of recording all observations.

Richard Dawkins has a great way of finding the most ridiculous religious fanatics. He is also doing the same thing that the religious fanatics are doing. He's taking the Bible completely out of context. He's a genius, and very good at arguing, absolutely brilliant with many other things. But when it comes down to it, he's as much of a religious fanatic as the people he puts the spotlight on, and tends to skew biblical scripture to prove his own points and to enact his own personal vendetta.
@Jeffason1 There is not much context. it's literally there, the cruelty. The point is, for the bible to be a moral guideline, you must first apply your own inherent morals to it and ignore the bad stuff. Hence you never needed it in the first place to know what is moral and what is not. What good is a book supposedly the word of God if it can have various interpretations and contexts? One would assume it to be a bit more absolute than that in which case you cant ignore the terrible parts.
@JCviggen1 There's definitely context. Every situation you face in life has a context. In real life, when some one does something wrong, you don't just look at what they did. You look at why they did it, what caused them to do it and many other factors that could have attributed to it. The book doesn't have several different contexts, but because of when it was written and how different that time was compared to now, you do of course end up with many interpretations.

@direhitx, Grazimoto1 is talking proportion, say if you only have 1000 people in the us, of which 900 are religious, 100 are atheist, that means tha 10% of americans are atheist right? now if out of those 1000 people you have 100 people are in jail, and only 10 of the ones in jail are atheist that means that 10% of the people in jail are atheist that is proportionate to the same quantity of people outside of jail right?

Fuck, I got sent to one of those "Hell Houses" when I was 12 and I only just realized what it was because they called it a "play." That's what made me get baptized too. Worse decision of my life. The episodes provide line by line religious beliefs/texts, provide scientific evidence, and are made in easy to watch 10 minute episodes covering diverse subjects. Richard Dawkins has a great way of finding the most ridiculous religious fanatics. He is also doing the same thing that the religious fanatics are doing. He's taking the Bible completely out of context. He's a genius, and very good at arguing, absolutely brilliant with many other things. But when it comes down to it, he's as much of a religious fanatic as the people he puts the spotlight on, and tends to skew biblical scripture to prove his own points and to enact his own personal vendetta.

The point is, for the bible to be a moral guideline, you must first apply your own inherent morals to it and ignore the bad stuff. Hence you never needed it in the first place to know what is moral and what is not. What good is a book supposedly the word of God if it can have various interpretations and contexts? One would assume it to be a bit more absolute than that in which case you cant ignore the terrible parts.

@JCviggen1 There's definitely context. Every situation you face in life has a context. In real life, when some one does something wrong, you don't just look at what they did. You look at why they did it, what caused them to do it and many other factors that could have attributed to it. The book doesn't have several different contexts, but because of when it was written and how different that time was compared to now, you do of course end up with many interpretations.

"And with a male you shall not lay lyings of a woman" This may refer to male sex in a woman's (wife's) bed which may refer to a threesome, adultery, or dirtying a woman's bed which was considered sacred. Or it may refer to only male prostitutes in pagan temples as the context points to, and other passages refer. Other passages, such as the Sodom story refer to rape.

Btw you call it truth, but if you think it is the truth you should be able to explain why, but you cant, only list some BS documentaries. Let me guess, as a child you were probably raised to see the Bible as factual. If you were born in the middle east you were trying to tell the truth of Muhammad rather than Jesus.

The only thing that atheists have in common is that they reject the idea that a God exists, nothing more or less, apart from that they might all have different ideas about life. And I don't think anyone should die, where do you get that idea? I don't twist the truth either, just because you think something is true, doesn't make it a fact. The movie shows how they scare children into religion, THAT's immoral btw.

Abraham didn't have to kill his son because God doesn't what human sacrifices. Jezus is indeed a lot better then many figures from the old testament. That St. Paul made a dogma is not Jezus fault is it? Two weak points in Dawkins otherwise strong, sharp and usually true comments on religion.

And if there was i did not get any that was for the specific cure of the ulcer this city has major incompatence in medical treatment

Native Americans revered gays. Asian cultures had no issue with it. The Greeks had no problem with it (Hell, Alexander the Great was gay). Just because it is mentioned in the Bible a few times does not make it evil. The Bible also says that eating pork and shrimp is evil, yet I see many Christians eating that stuff.

Clearly you haven't read the WHOLE bible. Leviticus and duetronomy are full of sick, twisted laws from god through moses. Jesus promoted slavery; 'all slaves should obey their masters' or something like that. Women are still made to be subservient to their husbands, fathers etc. even in the new testament. I used to be Christian. I read the whole bible and i saw all the horrible things that were written in it. i could not reconcile the vulgar acts of inhumanity and bigotry within it and the idea of an all knowing, loving and powerful GOD. IT DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE. God's standards are lower than mine. I and almost everyone on this earth is more moral than god.
