  • lol the plunger thing is called a fire piston, but good vid

  • Cool way to extinguish fire lol.

  • Very nice video I love the mighty boosh shirt!!!

  • its gonna turn out one day he's gonna be lost and use all of his matches and be pissed cuz he ould.ve used those :)

  • @TechnicalFreak. You can light a fire in all those weathers anyway if you know how.

  • I think if i am honest that the morror is more truble than its worth sorry, i just prefer i good old steel with a flint rod, i loved the flint lighter though i might try that thanks

  • could you take the wheel out of any lighter?

  • i have never seen the last one very amzing way

  • you had to take it apart

  • THE MIGHTY BOOSH!!!

    Cant Wait for the Movie

  • I see you have firesteel, but do you have Swedish firesteel? It creates sparks at 3000 Celsius. You can light a fire when it's raining, snowing or during a smaller storm. They say that you must use the steel scraper that comes with it, but I could use my knife to create sparks.

  • interesting vid

  • i have a black matte zippo :), any ideas how to get scorch marks off of the metal casing? (where the oxygen holes are)

  • @recurveninja before you use it for the first time cover the casing with washing up liquid and then when the scorch marks appear just wash it carefully and it should come off, it works with billie cans over open fires so i don't see why it shouldn't work with the lighter.

  • @Forgotten26196 ive already used it... note the scorch marks..

  • @recurveninja oh well that was just the only way i could think of sorry :(

  • u shud buy a swat lighter the like metal kind of zippo lookin things but thiner and with a grip usually a long blue flame from em not made to use for cigs or anything cos the flame is quite big but it is rather good for survival conditions as its windproof and a big flame unlike normal lighters which sometimes u have to rig to get a decent sized flame

  • hey mike! you know you can make fire with a condom and some water. you take the condom (works better if it is not colored or anything and obviously should not be used) you fill it with water until it is roundish, tie off the end so that there is no air in it, and you can use it as a manifying glass to concentrate the sun into a small spot on the tinder.

  • @busyhands94 XD kipkay

  • i actually heared that from one of my friends

  • we get those damp climate matches free here in Florida after hurricanes

  • very nice

The last one is very nice and would work

    well

  • Coolness,I always Carry a Fire steel with me. I have an aroura Or how ever it's spelled. You can see it in my EDC video and cutlerylover did a video on it.

  • the plunger thing ur talking about is called an air piston

  • @lazymurderer actually its called the fire piston and it uses the same concept of the diesel engine, thats where the creator of the diesel engine got the idea

  • THE MIGHTY BOOSH!

  • where do u live at cause here the only thing here are zippos and light and matches

  • how cold are the winters in the UK. it can get to around -50 degrees celcius here in alberta. even lower.

  • depends on where in the uk in the highlands roughly -15 in the lowlands -7 degree's celcius

  • in the northern part of Norway it's -50 degrees celcius at least 1 time every year. thats why i want to move southXD

  • go alberta i live in red deer where do you

  • i live in devon, a little town outside of edmonton

  • in the summer you shoud do a demonstration on how that round miror thing

  • You could also use Steel Wool and a 9Volt battery, just rub the positive end on the steel wool and add sticks, leaves, grass, ect.

  • Thanks great tips, i've added your links to the more info section of this video, Thanks mate,

    Mike.

  • No proeblem, Glad I could be of assistance!

  • u mentioned not liking the book of matches due to the fact that they may possibly become wet. in one of my survival books they advise that it is a good precaution to light a candle at home when setting up kit and drip wax onto each candle because it makes them waterproof and all you have to do is pick it off before striking them.just thought this may help !

  • sorry, I should have explained better, what i meant was if the cardboard match part gets wet they then become near to impossible to strike.

    Mike

  • i should do a video on how to make a firewick, they are dirt cheap, easy to make, burn long and hot without any smoke and are made from ordinary stuff you might throw out!

  • You can also start a fire using steel wool and one of those rectangular batteries with the two different things on the top. Heheh, sorry if that's a bit weird, I don't quite remember their names.

  • Great stuff

  • u can use zippo lighter after the fuel evaporate ... the tinny sparks u can make fire

  • havent you shown the parabolic mirror b4 ? i know ive seen it b4 maybe a different sub dunno

    ★★★★★

  • If you don't like zippos because they evaporate then you should look up the peanut lighter. It's the best lighter I've ever owned. Had it for about 3 months, and if you like the peanut lighter you should also look up the permanent match. Never had one but I'd like one. Great video. Never seen that parabolic mirror, gotta get me one.

  • Ever since the begining of mankind, he's been asking him self .... how long!? How long before I discover fire and quit freezin' my ass off in this here cave!? How long!? I know where there are some Afghan tribes who are asking that same question today! Hahaha

Very familiar with the MRE matches...LOL

    5/5 Ed

  • i have seen the mirror in outdoorsman shops and mythbusters. oh and the edge lol in the movie they use ice though iv alwies wonderd if it would really work.

  • reminds me of the 'different forms of contraception' lesson at school lol

  • lol,

  • i find the clipper insert a little uncomfortable

i cut off a pice of pen plastic melt one end closed and then place the insert inside if you make it big enough you can put extra flints in the pen part(hence why you melt that end closed)

  • great idea mate, thanks for sharing that with me, i may have to try that.

  • man im a fan of this guy but come on i know lighters and matches make fire

  • lol, read the info in the more info section of the video, sorry to disappoint,

    more weapons coming soon.

  • i liked the last thing it was cool

  • 5/5m8

  • Nice video, thanks for showing us, Mike. Even though I've already seen this methods of fire making it was interesting to watch. Definitely a good collection of fire making items.

  • That tissue you've got in with your "strike anywhere's" would double as fire tinder in a pinch.

    That's a good idea Mike.

  • the funny thing that i found out is that lipstick or lipbalm (i used a normal labello) also works to soak cotton wool

if you have vaseline or a candle with you thats probably better but i think that when you need it you are much more likely to have a Chapstick if you carry it on a daily basis, like for your survival kit!

  • also could try pottasium pronaginate and glycerien special forces use these

  • p.s these chemicals produce a massive chemical reacition and burn like a flare for 30 secs or so

  • mre's are gooood,we eat them at army cadets whenever we go out on field training exercises

  • nice vids......... very informative, good job!

  • Thanks Chaintek, glad you liked it man.

    Mike

  • Hey Nima, glad i could share a new thing with you, and glad you liked it too mate.,

    Mike

  • thats sweet

  • Thanks Dewnayguhlomow

  • Another great trick is dipping the cotton in melted candle wax or rubbing it in vaseline. the cotton will stay at a steady flame for quite a while. possibly ten minutes

  • Really itm7575?

    That sounds really cool

    Mmmm need vaseline

  • great tips man, i have heard that many times , bit still haven't tried it, glad you liked the video.
