I have a bose centerpoint surround system in my 09 Cadillac CTS and it is the best stock stereo i have ever head. Sound like your in the music and the ten inch sub really kicks a**!
Right can someone actually tell me why so many people hate Bose and Apple products? So many people hate them. I do understand there are overpriced products by them but everything they make is pure quality, yes you can buy stuff that sounds similar but long term you will probably end up spending more money replacing it with new ones than you would if you just went for the expensive bose... And also, most people only judge a car stereo and stereos by the bass, forgetting the highs and mids.
@calvinator9111111111 If you wanna talk why people don't like Bose, of course the main reason is that it sounds TERRIBLE for the money. What you can buy for the cost of Bose's systems is in no way comparable to what they make in sound quality. Watch my videos. They explain this quite well.
And yes that is true many people do judge car audio only by bass, and that annoys me. I go for sound quality when it comes to car audio. And again, for the price of Bose's car systems, you can do better.
@calvinator9111111111 Also, that's interesting you mentioned having to spend more money replacing components with other brands. Another thing Bose is notorious for is not keeping up with the most basic technology. They just came out with surround systems that have Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD, which came out on receivers 2 years ago. And, while new receivers are now coming out with 3D, Bose left that out on theirs. They have a whole history of being about 1 to 2 years behind the rest of the market.
@falkenlaser Okay man, i do see your point. The thing is, Bose is just one of them companies like clothes brands where everyone has to get that brand just to be cool. Bose aint all that bad but yes, they are overpriced and you can get something better to replace it but what sounds better for insecure people, i bought a couple of argos 6x9's and a alpine s subwoofer from halfords or, i have a Bose 15 speaker system in my car... I'm not like this but a lot of people are, it's all about image.
@calvinator9111111111 Bose certainly is a name people want. I love the n00bs who say "haters can't afford it".I think it's comparable to Abercrombie and Fitch. A&F makes low quality clothing, Bose makes low quality speakers, but they charge a shitton for them. But, what matters most is the name. Except, I think with Bose a lot people who aren't falling for the name get fooled by their marketing and end up buying Bose cause they think it's good for the money. That's why I made those videos.
@falkenlaser The thing is, i'm not sure if you are but a lot of people arn't audiophiles, you HAVE to remember that. I'm listening through some Bose over ear headphones right now, they do have fantastic sound however, i am aware you can get some cheaper with the same outcome, but the quality won't be as good, these are my mum's and i'm just using them instead of my Skullcandy ones. Seriously these pick up bass notes my £600 Technics stereo don't, and that has a 12inch sub wired up :/
@calvinator9111111111 I know most people aren't audiophiles, and Bose does not make products for audiophiles. But, Bose charges the same price for their products that can buy you audiophile-quality products. And, Bose leaves out technology that those audiophile-quality products (a lot of those products I wouldn't even consider audiophile quality) have.
If Bose's stuff just wasn't so expensive, and included up-to-date technology, then I, and most audio enthusiasts, wouldn't care.
@falkenlaser Yeah but what i don't get is this. I'm using the Bose on-ear headphones that i'm using as an example. I went into a Apple store, they had a huge table of headphones, i almost climaxed. There were Dr Dre beats, Adidas Sennheisers and Bose etc. I tried all of them on. (I was helping my mum out to get her a decent pair of headphones). Bose were comfy, the mechanics of them was smooth and they were lightweight, the others had equal sound but had none of them 3 which people forget.
@calvinator9111111111 falkenlaser's opinion isnt worth shit. He's a simple store clerk who hates bose because he can't afford it. It's why he made a two part video about it. Look at how he gets slated day in and day out for his two-bit opinion ;)
@falkenlaser I know the sound is the most important thing of all, but these Bose headphones sound amazing. People say you can get equipment that sounds the same if better for less, true, but they totally forget about everything else. I totally agree with you about Bose being a couple of years behind (Technology wise) however, i think they put a lot of research into the old technology in order for it to work at it's full potential whereas most brands have the tech, but it's not as effective.
@calvinator9111111111 I haven't really followed headphones for quite awhile now, so I'm not an expert on them. I was reading a post from a guy on an audio forum who was talking about going to a Bose store, and he said the headphones he thought were the best sounding things in the store.
My main focus, however, is their Lifestyle systems. The first time I heard the Lifestyle 48, I expected it to be somewhat good. But, it was worse than I thought. No bass, limited highs.
@calvinator9111111111 And compared to the $1500 Paradigm Cinema system I heard a week later, which blew the Bose system away, the LS48's $4000 price tag is an absolute crime.
And explain to me how Bose improves on older technology, and how other brands don't use it as effectively. I know most of their own technology, such as Waveguide, Acoustimass, etc. are old designs that they changed just a bit and patented. The technologies aren't better, just different, and that's the key.
@calvinator9111111111 In fact, no other audio brand out there has even attempted to copy Bose's designs. The Waveguide is just a transmission line, a technology that has been around forever, and has proven to be inferior. The Acoustimass module is just a bandpass enclosure; a VERY inferior design for a subwoofer. In fact, it cannot reproduce sub bass at all (I was told this by two Bose salespeople). It also plays too high, which results in bad imaging.
I'm not a computer enthusiast, so I may get some of this wrong. But, Apple came out with the iPhone back in 2007. Aside from the LG Prada, it was the first touchscreen phone. A year later, I got a LG Dare, which was an early iPhone "equivalent", yet it is NOTHING like the iPhone. And since then, it has taken a company 2 years to come out with something that even comes close to the iPhones performance.
@calvinator9111111111 So, it does seem like Apple makes stuff that other companies will take awhile to catch up to.
However, Bose is always about 2 years behind in tech, and none of their new products come out with something incredibly revolutionary like the iPhone. And, no other companies try to copy Bose's designs.
So, I think that's the different between Apple and Bose. Apple actually researches, but Bose just says they do, and uses their claims as BS marketing.
lol i love it how people think that bose is good hahaha
listen to klipsh spealer or any other good brand and you will notice that bose sound like shit compared to speakers that cost even less you pay big money for speakers that look like they have been designed by a fag bose is just looks no game
@cybernaab I have both Bose and Klipsch headphones. I paid $89 for both and to be honest, the Klipsch headphones sound WAY too tinny and do not hit nearly as much as the Bose do. Not saying that they sound bad, but Bose sounds better. I don't have too much experience as far as the Klipsch SPEAKERS go, but I am very happy with Bose.
Everyone has different opinions. I like more of a deep and balanced sound, which Bose gives. Some people like their music really high and crisp, which is Klipsch.
I have a Bose system in my audi. It sounds better than most standard systems, but it's far from amazing. I honestly think you can get a better sound from doing it yourself with kit that costs a fraction of the price. Mind you, whatever kit you have it's gonna sound crap playing music like this :P
Bose is the most advanced. Indeed, the Bose Companion 5 speakers play Surround, even if it has two speakers. And maybe also because I have the Bose. :-D Anyway, Bose is best. In my opinion. And Sorry about my bad English :-D
Bose is the most advanced....Despite the fact that none of their Lifestyle systems come with a Blu-Ray player (just regular DVD players), they lack 7.1 surround sound (they only have 5.1), and have limited HDMI connectivity (on the Lifestyle 18 and 28, you have to pay $300 for an adapter to even get HDMI, and it only gives you 2 of them), even while this is all the industry standard now, even on systems costing much less?
@Lolloz89 it took me a year to respond...i checked my youtube inbox just for the hell of it and saw your response...wow...thanks for the comment. its people like you that make it easy for the rest of the world to see how stupid we are...lighten up dude...i mean seriously it was a sarcastic comment i know how bose sounds...you see nothing wrong with someone paying a lot of money for a good stereo in their car and trying to show off how great it sounds with a crappy recording???
We have a bose system in our audi I don't think it's all that good it distorts at moderate volumes! we had a 2009 dodge charger with the standard 4 speaker stereo and it blew the bose system out of the water! I think with the bose systems can be beter, depends on the car shape mainly I supose
I own bose and everyone the truth is, you could go by two 4 alpine type s speakers, tweeters and crossovers and a headunit powering them for 500 dollars total and that to be honest sound so much better than bose. Bose stuff sounds great, but is way overpriced for what they give. They have nice speakers, but you can get equipment that sounds just as good for half the price.
@Haydog17 My audi a4 came with the bose system 4 speaker 2 tweeter and 1 sub and it makes more sense to keep it cause it sounds awesome then spend $500 more
Nope. All stock car audio systems suck, and the "subwoofers" they come with can barely be called subwoofers. If you want a real car subwoofer, you have to get an aftermarket one (particularly a JL Audio one).
Mercedes, or at least the newer ones, have H/K instead of Bose. But, I've heard Bose's flagship Lifestyle 48, and there's no way any car could have a Bose system better than that (they're most likely Bose's lowest quality speakers). The system in my car (about $1K), with just 2 co-axials in the front powered by the head unit, and a JL Audio W3v3 subwoofer powered by a JL A-series amp, sounds much better than the Lifestyle 48.
But, I think a Bose stock system would do just fine for most people.
Haha, you haven't even brought any technological knowledge into this debate, you just keep repeating "APPLE IS GOOD BOSE IS GOOD APPLE IS GOOD". Those ads really went to your head. Just because you own garbage, doesn't mean you can't see the light eventually someday.
Just google "Bose scam" and see how many audio engineers and audiophiles know what they're talking about. Judging by the crap you're listening to, no wonder you chose crap speakers for crap music.
Some people need to stop slamming Bose. I have owned various Bose speakers over a period of 20 years, with the oldest ones still sounding as good as they did when i bought them. And I surely don't treat my speakers lightly either...
The old Bose speakers were good. But, now they suck. Those little cubes are have cheap plastic enclosures and small paper drivers, and for the prices they charge (especially the Lifestyle systems) you could be getting something MUCH better. Those LS systems don't even have the latest technology. They have the outdated basic Dolby Digital and DTS and 5.1 surround sound, while even the least expensive Sony and Yamaha receivers have Dolby Pro-Logic II, Dolby True HD, and 7.1 surround sound.
Well, while I've never heard the 901s, I know they'd be out-of-date by today's standards where speakers are often most often used home theater systems, in which certain sounds are supposed to come from the front (left and right), center (straight on), and behind you (surrounds). The direct-reflecting 901s would defeat the purpose of the different speakers in a surround setup because they'd interfere with the other speakers; especially the surrounds.
Right, thats how i have my home theater set up. I've got 2 Bose Bookshelf speakers (Circa mid 90's?) in front, along with 2 Polk Audio Monitors (Expensive, but great sounding), A Polk Audio Monitor Center channel, and 2 Bose speakers for the surrounds (from ~1998?)...All in all, it has really good sound. However, I probably wouldnt buy any new bose, because i went into a bose store and got a demo of their new lifestyle system, which i was not impressed with at all...
Bose actually does NOT suck, at all, now. They not only use BETTER quality components and design techniques than ever before, but those "cheap plastic cubes" are actually made from very high quality, thick, dense plastic enclosures filled with acoustical stuffing.
The "cheap paper drivers" are made of quality, treated paper with quality, ELLIPTICAL (I saw these newer surrounds IN STORE as a Bose salesman LET ME TAke THE GRILLS OFF!) treated cloth surround - w/ HUGE MAGNETS!
But, Paradigm's Cinema 70 speakers, which are 7 in. tall, and have a metal dome tweeter, a plastic mid-range driver, and crossover; three things Bose's cubes lack. And, the Cinemas are much, much cheaper, and blow Bose's cubes out of the water. I don't see how Bose's cubes could be worth more than those.
Also, the Acoustimass Module is retarded. You shouldn't hear voices out of a subwoofer, and a sub should be omnipresent. A Bose salesperson even told me it isn't a sub!
Just because the tweeter is made of metal, doesn't mean it's quality; that's like the Bose advertising working on you the way you say it does on "ignorant Joe's", by having he metal be the "pretty" looking package, but having it really sound like crap - or at least to a lower standard than it should.
Bose doesn't NEED a crossover in the cubes! That point is moot. Plastic mid-range? Big deal. Paper is better anyways.
Point is: It doesn't MATTER the material so much as how it is used!
But the point is, the Paradigm Cinema speakers absolutely beat the living shit out of the D/R and Jewel Cubes without mercy. The day before I heard the Lifestyle 48, I listed to a $2000 or so system with the Paradigm Cinemas, and when I listened to the LS48, it was worse than I thought it would be. Then, about a week later, I heard a $1000 system with those Cinemas, and that system still walked over the LS48.
If you wanna see some REAL speakers, check out my video.
Also, Bose's Lifestyle systems totally do suck. For how much they cost, you should be getting 7.1 surround sound, Dolby Pro-Logic II and True HD (they have the outdated basic Dolby Digital), and a Blu-Ray player. And, there's no excuse for the $4K Lifestyle 48 being worth that much when I could get a couple Paradigm Monitor 7 towers and 4 big surrounds.
I broke it down, and if the Acoustimyass module is worth $1000, the media center is worth $1000, then the cubes are $800/pair. No excuse.
I DO agree the LS systems are overpriced, but you're an idiot if you think they TOTALLY suck. They're excellent in terms of sound quality, build quality, and ease of setup, but do lack other features that there no excuses for not being there.
The Acoustimass module is NOT "retarded". First of all, you're ignorant to use that word, as it means slow, not stupid. Secondly, with the latest AM module, the mid-bass is nearly omni-directional. Thirdly, the bass is deep to about 32-30Hz.
Sure, if the LS systems were $500, they wouldn't suck; but or how much they cost, and compared to what you can get for 1/4 the price, they suck goat taints. Even the cheapest receivers out there have Dolby TrueHD and PLII. It comes to the point where it's like "why even buy a Lifestyle system?"
I've heard the bass can play that deep, but you can still hear voices out of it. That means if you put it say, near your CD rack, it'll sound as if voices are coming out of your CD rack and not the TV.
No, that's WAY underpriced for the quality you get! If their LS48 - that comes with a VERY well built, pure metal video upscaler and switcher, a built in hard-drive, an AM module with essentially has a built in computer (as with the Media Center, which can simultaneously play music up to 14 different locations at ONE TIME!), were to be priced at around $2000, THEN it would be TOTALLY worth its price - no doubt.
It doesn't NEED TrueHD, AND it has it's own PLII (probably better than PLII)
If I can get 4 Paradigm Atom Monitors, a CC-190 center, a PDR-10 subwoofer, a Yamaha RX-V465 A/V receiver w/ an iPod dock, and a decent Blu-Ray player, for about $2K, then there's no excuse for any Bose system being worth $2K. The Monitors are big, made of wood, and have multiple drivers. There's no way the D/R and Jewel cubes are of the same build quality. The Paradigm Cinemas are built better, too.
There's no point in the LS systems because you can get better for the same and less.
Also, if you wanted a $4K small speaker system, you could get:
4x Paradigm Cinema 70s (2 as fronts and 2 as rear surrounds)
2x Paradigm Cinema ADPs (side surrounds)
1x Paradigm Cinema CC (center)
1x JL Audio f110 Fathom subwoofer
A Yamaha RX-665 receiver w/ iPod dock
A Sony BDP-S550 Blu-Ray player
A Logitech Harmony remote
This would be like $200 more than the LS48, but TOTALLY worth it, especially with that JL Audio Fathom sub in it. That ultimately shows just how overpriced the LS48 is.
Sure, in terms of pure sound quality, the LS 48 is totally overpriced, by about 50%, however, you do need to count in to the fact that not only does Bose have excellent customer service, their features of their system are worth the price to customers that are more simple and less caring about their sound quality, and want sleek, small speakers, EASY TO USE AND SETUP, and IMPECCABLE customer service.
Also, name one other system w/ HDD that can stream to 14 different locations at once?
I will say this: I would NOT, EVER, pay that much for a Bose system. I, personally, am past the Bose sound quality and have moved up.
However, Bose DOES have a VERY clean and crisp sound that is very enjoyable and appealing. They DO provice MUCH better sound quality than their made out to be, and in some areas, MUCH better build quality. They do dump a lot of money into research, and a lot of audiophiles are simply ignorant and insecure so they bash Bose to feel safe and secure. It's sad.
If they dumped a lot of money into research as they claim they do, they'd have:
- 7.1 surround sound
- Dolby PLIIx, TrueHD, DTS Neo: 6, etc.
- A Blu-Ray player
Things even the least expensive systems these days have.
But lol you just keep thinking their stuff is high-quality and worth the money. You're the only so-called "audiophile" that thinks Bose is high quality. Heck, a lot of people I know that aren't even into audio know Bose sucks. Compared to the competition, Bose stands no chance.
Sure, there really is no excuse for not having the advanced audio decoding features, and they HAVE systems that allow you to use a Blu-Ray player. They still should have one now in their DVD-Only systems - one is probably coming.
However, they don't offer 7.1 because it's not the mainstream, and most users will not want to take the time to setup 7 speakers, but simply have the normal five. You still have to realize Bose's MAIN market; folk who are more simple and less caring of features.
I actually talked to the salespeople at a Bose dealer, and they said their systems won't be coming with a Blu-Ray player in the foreseeable future. But then, you're right, Bose dealers are kind clueless.
For how much Bose charges, a system should come with 7 speakers. Also, Pro-Logic IIx converts 5.1 soundtracks into 7.1 surround sound.
Also, my roommate has a Companion 3, and its woofer is extremely "boomy" and "artificial" sounding. My 8 in. Jamo sub plays much lower and tighter.
That IS stupid of them, and un-excusable - at least in their LS line.
Yeah, that would be appropriate, but they understandably don't do so because A.) Jane and Jon doe aren't familiar with 7.1 B.) 7.1 is NOT mainstream. Also, their D/R cubes create more of that filling space that other speaker designs (it's really not a gimmick, it DOES add spaciousness), however, it would be appropriate to include extra speakers for the price, but it's part of the Bose premium.
Yeah I don't get why the $2000 LS28 doesn't even upconvert to 1080p!
Those D/R cubes would indeed be good surround speakers. They kind of remind me of dipole surrounds, which is what I own. They have an un-centralized sound field.
My Jamo sub I believe was $300. It has serious punch and power for a down-firing 8-incher. It's not mine; I stole it from my family's downstairs surround system. I really wanna get a Paradigm DSP-3100 for myself. It's $550, and is a BEAST!
That is ridiculous, but Bose has always been slow to adopt new technology.
The D/R cubes are excellent speakers all around, but, again, are overpriced. Paper is some of the best material to use as a speaker driver. Bose knows this, and THAT'S why they use paper, I'm NEARLY sure. No other material would allow them to get such smooth, clear sound w/o adding tweeters - most likely. I haven't heard other full-range systems such as Orb Audio, but I do know, for a fact, paper is excellent.
If Bose claims they're all about research, but it's weird their systems lack the most basic features.
I've heard paper is really good for big drivers, but not so much for small drivers. Also, I looked at the drivers in my roommate's Companion 3, and they appear to be made of untreated paper. Velodyne uses treated paper for their drivers, and the paper drivers in the C3 don't look anything like them. You just about can't tell a Velodyne driver is made of paper by just looking at it.
While there are people that buy Bose because they want a simple system, I think Bose's target is people with money. These people probably have room for bigger speakers, but what they want the most is the Bose "name", and they think it's the best because of that name. Most of the Bosephiles I've heard say Bose bashers don't like Bose "because they can't afford it." Don't they realize that there's systems that cost MUCH more?
Check out my video. It puts those people in their place.
I am an audiophile, but an intelligent one with an open mind about approaches and materials used for audio reproduction.
Just like a lot of Bose lovers see the Bose name and think it's good, Bose-haters see the name Bose - and because other audiophiles say "you have to hate Bose to become an audiohpile", they hate the product & crap, because other audiophiles do too. They also let this cloud any judgement of the actual product - because it's Bose.
When I first got into audio, I thought Bose was really good. Our family has a Wave radio, so I began listening to it. But, I noticed at rather high volumes, it seems to choke up. So, I figured it wasn't that good.
When I went to go listen to the Lifestyle 48, I had an opened mind; I was ready for any surprises. I actually thought Bose was decent. But, it sounded WORSE than I expected. It's probably that I heard a $2000 or so Paradigm Cinema system the day before, which blows the LS48 away.
Actually, in reality, Bose is TECHNICALLY shit. Have an audio engineer take one apart for you and he will tell you the markup on their products is LITERALLY 1000%.
The Bose Acoustimas is an utter scam. I don't know about their car gear, but I wouldn't buy anything from a company that markets to morons (like Apple) and sells speakers for $1000+ when they cost about $100 to make.
Apple makes TOP NOTCH quality gear, and anyone with half a brain would know that. Their OS is beautiful constructed from a core code stand-point, and is one of the most well integrated and secure pieces of software ever made given all of it's functionality. Period.
The Acoustimass systems are not a scam - at all. They're for people who want great sound quality in a small, easy to setup package with great looks (arguably). They're overpriced, but good.
You're just a consumer, unfortunately for your misinformed opinion, audio engineers would call YOU an ignorant idiot, PERIOD. Acoustimass are worth about $100 bucks and have internal EQ's to fool morons (like yourself) into believing theyre better. Paper cones and no banana clips for OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS?!! Scam. Apple and Bose put all their money into advertising. Any company that markets shuffling as their own invention is beyond sad.
You're absolutely PATHETIC and a DISGRACE to audio and technology.
Here's the facts, k? :
Apple makes VERY solid, innovative, and EXTREMELY high quality software AND hardware that no other company can match. Period.
The Mac Pro is one of the MOST POWERFUL consumer machines you can buy for the money. Apple also really lets you get into their superior-to-Windows OS by giving FREE programming tools and aid to get you on your feet.
Apple's OS is based on Unix, which you're too stupid to know.
Also, everything you're saying about Bose shows how ignorant you are:
There's no EQ employed to make up for deficiencies in the Bose cubes' performance - because there are none (or very little and very few); I hooked up two of the older, but current style (there are different internal designs of the bigger, older ones, and the better, newer, smaller ones) to my KLIPSCH iFi and they sounded INCREDIBLE!
Also, you're obviously ignorant in that you don't know that paper is one of the best materials for speakers. Period.
Bose sticks with older designs for a reason - they're some of the best!
Bose products ARE overpriced, but they're still HIGH QUALITY, Hi-Fi products.
Also, there's no NEED for binding posts (that's what you meant, not "banana clips" - they're "banana plugs" btw, not "clips") with the cubes, the high quality speaker cable that Bose supplies (copper cable & thick) is plenty.
Maybe you hadn't noticed, but pretty much Apple's target market are MORONS that don't know how to use anything and need someone to dumb it dowe. Garage Band, for instance is one of the most dumbed down childish programs I've ever used. Macs crash constantly, they're only benefit is that you get fewer viruses because less people give a fuck about Apples. "iPods" and "Podcasting" are also unoriginal/stolen ideas that they slapped their name on.
Apple's target market is for SMART, INTELLIGENT people who know what a quality computer is; superior hardware, superior software, superior company. Period. Unix-based OS, MUCH more secure than Windows, and superior integration.
You're an idiot if you think it's "dumbed down". It's more streamlined, and much more powerful than nearly ANY PIECE OF SOFTWARE Windows comes with. GarageBand is EXTREMELY powerful if you know how to use it, especially given it's low price. Apple is for smart peeps
This is pointless and stupid. You're obviously an idiot when it comes to technology, so I'm not going to even try, and really there's no point. I really don't care what you think.
Now, quite being so annoyingly ignorant, and have a good day.
Also, that comment of me saying you drool on your keyboard was a bit low, essentially me calling you retarded, however, it is very disgraceful to use the subject of retardation in an argument as it is disrespectful and low to people with mental disabilities.
No; my cat is more intelligent than you, and of course, our cats are the least intelligent creatures in our family - but of course, that still isn't saying much for our cats to be more intelligent than you.
I'm sure you go around sniffing butts, only to match the look of your face with the odor as well. Sad, but some people are simply disgraces to humanity.
See, there's no mentally disabled people in our family, however, it's called being respectful to people who are, such as yourself.
It's like using the word "faggot" - that's a nono, because it's disrespectful to gay people.
Same concept with the word "retarded".
However, you deserve that disrespect, and that says alot coming from me. You obviously have no concept of respect, and that's not surprising from the seemingly idiot that you are.
No, one in my family is retarded because none of them are like you.
No, none are, and you're maybe not, but you're tech dumb
I am an avid audiophile who enjoys - GREATLY - very high-quality sound reproduction. I also, though, enjoy the quality of sound Bose reproduces. It's not necessarily ACCURATE, but it's CLEAR and SMOOTH. A unique sound that is appreciable. I also really appreciate their technology and innovation.
Their latest Acoustimass module has two QUALITY 5.25" woofers that move air through 3 different ports simultaneously. The ports are different lengths for different frequencies. I'll send the link.
A Bose salesperson told me the Acoustimass module isn't a subwoofer because it can't play as low and plays too high. You shouldn't be able to hear voices out of any separate bass-producing speaker in a system. This means if you put it near your CD rack or wherever, it'll sound as if voices are coming from your CD rack and not the TV. Very poor imaging.
Also, I don't think I could find a more reliable source than a Bose salesperson for information on their systems.
If that sales person said it doesn't play as low, then he's an idiot himself.
First of all, play as low as what? There are "subwoofers" out there that only go to 45Hz! Or Even 35Hz!
Their SMALLEST AM module, their Companion 3 AM module, goes down to 33Hz! He's an idiot if he thinks they don't go down that low, because they respectably do.
The AM modules are designed to where the mid-bass really isn't that directional, as well as their latest incredible AM module of LS is verynondirectional
No everyone......Before you buy Bose, go check out Paradigm, Wharfedale, and Bowers and Wilkins. Those brands destroy anything Bose makes; even a system consisting of their least expensive speakers would destroy anything Bose.
This person most likely has never heard, or even heard of, these brands, just like all the other people that think Bose is the best. Don't listen to these people; they aren't the audio experts they think they are. REAL audio experts know Bose is overpriced crap.
i seriously can not believe that you guys think Bose is actually good. Have you ever seen what there made out of.....cardboard people...cardboard.....all Bose does is just feed off of its well-targeted audience which would be the ignorant, ill-informed, mass-market consumers who search for simplified hifi audio solutions
dude, srsly, if you don't like Audi, why even watch Audi videos? and bose was designed for better sound... like bass... if bose was made for crips sounds.... why would it have such big bass?
Its called a sub! and i didnt watch this vid for the audi..it was for the bose system. take away the sub and u got nothing bud. Thats the reason why i have a small 10 inch shallow sub. To give it alittle oophm. i preger clear crisp over heavu bass anyways.
doesnt matter what you listen to, any kind of music sounds good on a bose.. in my b6 audi a4 i find i dont have too much bass, its just right.. non-bose has more bass...

And also, most people only judge a car stereo and stereos by the bass, forgetting the highs and mids.
calvinator9111111111 1 year ago
@calvinator9111111111 If you wanna talk why people don't like Bose, of course the main reason is that it sounds TERRIBLE for the money. What you can buy for the cost of Bose's systems is in no way comparable to what they make in sound quality. Watch my videos. They explain this quite well.
And yes that is true many people do judge car audio only by bass, and that annoys me. I go for sound quality when it comes to car audio. And again, for the price of Bose's car systems, you can do better.
falkenlaser 1 year ago
@calvinator9111111111 Also, that's interesting you mentioned having to spend more money replacing components with other brands. Another thing Bose is notorious for is not keeping up with the most basic technology. They just came out with surround systems that have Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD, which came out on receivers 2 years ago. And, while new receivers are now coming out with 3D, Bose left that out on theirs. They have a whole history of being about 1 to 2 years behind the rest of the market.
falkenlaser 1 year ago
@falkenlaser Okay man, i do see your point. The thing is, Bose is just one of them companies like clothes brands where everyone has to get that brand just to be cool. Bose aint all that bad but yes, they are overpriced and you can get something better to replace it but what sounds better for insecure people, i bought a couple of argos 6x9's and a alpine s subwoofer from halfords or, i have a Bose 15 speaker system in my car... I'm not like this but a lot of people are, it's all about image.
calvinator9111111111 1 year ago
@calvinator9111111111 Bose certainly is a name people want. I love the n00bs who say "haters can't afford it".I think it's comparable to Abercrombie and Fitch. A&F makes low quality clothing, Bose makes low quality speakers, but they charge a shitton for them. But, what matters most is the name. Except, I think with Bose a lot people who aren't falling for the name get fooled by their marketing and end up buying Bose cause they think it's good for the money. That's why I made those videos.
falkenlaser 1 year ago
@falkenlaser The thing is, i'm not sure if you are but a lot of people arn't audiophiles, you HAVE to remember that. I'm listening through some Bose over ear headphones right now, they do have fantastic sound however, i am aware you can get some cheaper with the same outcome, but the quality won't be as good, these are my mum's and i'm just using them instead of my Skullcandy ones. Seriously these pick up bass notes my £600 Technics stereo don't, and that has a 12inch sub wired up :/
calvinator9111111111 1 year ago
@calvinator9111111111 I know most people aren't audiophiles, and Bose does not make products for audiophiles. But, Bose charges the same price for their products that can buy you audiophile-quality products. And, Bose leaves out technology that those audiophile-quality products (a lot of those products I wouldn't even consider audiophile quality) have.
If Bose's stuff just wasn't so expensive, and included up-to-date technology, then I, and most audio enthusiasts, wouldn't care.
falkenlaser 1 year ago
@falkenlaser Yeah but what i don't get is this. I'm using the Bose on-ear headphones that i'm using as an example. I went into a Apple store, they had a huge table of headphones, i almost climaxed. There were Dr Dre beats, Adidas Sennheisers and Bose etc. I tried all of them on. (I was helping my mum out to get her a decent pair of headphones). Bose were comfy, the mechanics of them was smooth and they were lightweight, the others had equal sound but had none of them 3 which people forget.
calvinator9111111111 1 year ago
@calvinator9111111111 falkenlaser's opinion isnt worth shit. He's a simple store clerk who hates bose because he can't afford it. It's why he made a two part video about it. Look at how he gets slated day in and day out for his two-bit opinion ;)
stepchangeable 1 year ago
@falkenlaser I know the sound is the most important thing of all, but these Bose headphones sound amazing. People say you can get equipment that sounds the same if better for less, true, but they totally forget about everything else. I totally agree with you about Bose being a couple of years behind (Technology wise) however, i think they put a lot of research into the old technology in order for it to work at it's full potential whereas most brands have the tech, but it's not as effective.
calvinator9111111111 1 year ago
@calvinator9111111111 I haven't really followed headphones for quite awhile now, so I'm not an expert on them. I was reading a post from a guy on an audio forum who was talking about going to a Bose store, and he said the headphones he thought were the best sounding things in the store.
My main focus, however, is their Lifestyle systems. The first time I heard the Lifestyle 48, I expected it to be somewhat good. But, it was worse than I thought. No bass, limited highs.
falkenlaser 1 year ago
@calvinator9111111111 And compared to the $1500 Paradigm Cinema system I heard a week later, which blew the Bose system away, the LS48's $4000 price tag is an absolute crime.
And explain to me how Bose improves on older technology, and how other brands don't use it as effectively. I know most of their own technology, such as Waveguide, Acoustimass, etc. are old designs that they changed just a bit and patented. The technologies aren't better, just different, and that's the key.
falkenlaser 1 year ago
@calvinator9111111111 In fact, no other audio brand out there has even attempted to copy Bose's designs. The Waveguide is just a transmission line, a technology that has been around forever, and has proven to be inferior. The Acoustimass module is just a bandpass enclosure; a VERY inferior design for a subwoofer. In fact, it cannot reproduce sub bass at all (I was told this by two Bose salespeople). It also plays too high, which results in bad imaging.
But to Average Joe, this all sounds great.
falkenlaser 1 year ago
@calvinator9111111111 Oh yeah....As for Apple, and how I think it compares to Bose.
And since then, it has taken a company 2 years to come out with something that even comes close to the iPhones performance.
falkenlaser 1 year ago
@calvinator9111111111 So, it does seem like Apple makes stuff that other companies will take awhile to catch up to.
However, Bose is always about 2 years behind in tech, and none of their new products come out with something incredibly revolutionary like the iPhone. And, no other companies try to copy Bose's designs.
So, I think that's the different between Apple and Bose. Apple actually researches, but Bose just says they do, and uses their claims as BS marketing.

DipsoBBerS 2 years ago
Bose is the most advanced....Despite the fact that none of their Lifestyle systems come with a Blu-Ray player (just regular DVD players), they lack 7.1 surround sound (they only have 5.1), and have limited HDMI connectivity (on the Lifestyle 18 and 28, you have to pay $300 for an adapter to even get HDMI, and it only gives you 2 of them), even while this is all the industry standard now, even on systems costing much less?

Mercedes, or at least the newer ones, have H/K instead of Bose. But, I've heard Bose's flagship Lifestyle 48, and there's no way any car could have a Bose system better than that (they're most likely Bose's lowest quality speakers). The system in my car (about $1K), with just 2 co-axials in the front powered by the head unit, and a JL Audio W3v3 subwoofer powered by a JL A-series amp, sounds much better than the Lifestyle 48.
But, I think a Bose stock system would do just fine for most people.

Some people need to stop slamming Bose. I have owned various Bose speakers over a period of 20 years, with the oldest ones still sounding as good as they did when i bought them. And I surely don't treat my speakers lightly either...
youtoshibaa1052 2 years ago
The old Bose speakers were good. But, now they suck. Those little cubes are have cheap plastic enclosures and small paper drivers, and for the prices they charge (especially the Lifestyle systems) you could be getting something MUCH better. Those LS systems don't even have the latest technology. They have the outdated basic Dolby Digital and DTS and 5.1 surround sound, while even the least expensive Sony and Yamaha receivers have Dolby Pro-Logic II, Dolby True HD, and 7.1 surround sound.
falkenlaser 2 years ago
Absolutely agree with you there. I was just saying that to some people who say things like "Bose sucks and has always sucked" which isn't true at all
youtoshibaa1052 2 years ago

However, I probably wouldnt buy any new bose, because i went into a bose store and got a demo of their new lifestyle system, which i was not impressed with at all...
youtoshibaa1052 2 years ago
Bose actually does NOT suck, at all, now. They not only use BETTER quality components and design techniques than ever before, but those "cheap plastic cubes" are actually made from very high quality, thick, dense plastic enclosures filled with acoustical stuffing.
The "cheap paper drivers" are made of quality, treated paper with quality, ELLIPTICAL (I saw these newer surrounds IN STORE as a Bose salesman LET ME TAke THE GRILLS OFF!) treated cloth surround - w/ HUGE MAGNETS!
Bose is quality.
FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
Whatever you say.
A Bose salesperson even told me it isn't a sub!
falkenlaser 2 years ago
Just because the tweeter is made of metal, doesn't mean it's quality; that's like the Bose advertising working on you the way you say it does on "ignorant Joe's", by having he metal be the "pretty" looking package, but having it really sound like crap - or at least to a lower standard than it should.
Bose doesn't NEED a crossover in the cubes! That point is moot. Plastic mid-range? Big deal. Paper is better anyways.
Point is: It doesn't MATTER the material so much as how it is used!
FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
But the point is, the Paradigm Cinema speakers absolutely beat the living shit out of the D/R and Jewel Cubes without mercy. The day before I heard the Lifestyle 48, I listed to a $2000 or so system with the Paradigm Cinemas, and when I listened to the LS48, it was worse than I thought it would be. Then, about a week later, I heard a $1000 system with those Cinemas, and that system still walked over the LS48.
If you wanna see some REAL speakers, check out my video.
falkenlaser 2 years ago
Also, Bose's Lifestyle systems totally do suck. For how much they cost, you should be getting 7.1 surround sound, Dolby Pro-Logic II and True HD (they have the outdated basic Dolby Digital), and a Blu-Ray player. And, there's no excuse for the $4K Lifestyle 48 being worth that much when I could get a couple Paradigm Monitor 7 towers and 4 big surrounds.
I broke it down, and if the Acoustimyass module is worth $1000, the media center is worth $1000, then the cubes are $800/pair. No excuse.
falkenlaser 2 years ago
I DO agree the LS systems are overpriced, but you're an idiot if you think they TOTALLY suck. They're excellent in terms of sound quality, build quality, and ease of setup, but do lack other features that there no excuses for not being there.
The Acoustimass module is NOT "retarded". First of all, you're ignorant to use that word, as it means slow, not stupid. Secondly, with the latest AM module, the mid-bass is nearly omni-directional. Thirdly, the bass is deep to about 32-30Hz.
FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
Sure, if the LS systems were $500, they wouldn't suck; but or how much they cost, and compared to what you can get for 1/4 the price, they suck goat taints. Even the cheapest receivers out there have Dolby TrueHD and PLII. It comes to the point where it's like "why even buy a Lifestyle system?"
I've heard the bass can play that deep, but you can still hear voices out of it. That means if you put it say, near your CD rack, it'll sound as if voices are coming out of your CD rack and not the TV.
falkenlaser 2 years ago
No, that's WAY underpriced for the quality you get! If their LS48 - that comes with a VERY well built, pure metal video upscaler and switcher, a built in hard-drive, an AM module with essentially has a built in computer (as with the Media Center, which can simultaneously play music up to 14 different locations at ONE TIME!), were to be priced at around $2000, THEN it would be TOTALLY worth its price - no doubt.
It doesn't NEED TrueHD, AND it has it's own PLII (probably better than PLII)
FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
If I can get 4 Paradigm Atom Monitors, a CC-190 center, a PDR-10 subwoofer, a Yamaha RX-V465 A/V receiver w/ an iPod dock, and a decent Blu-Ray player, for about $2K, then there's no excuse for any Bose system being worth $2K. The Monitors are big, made of wood, and have multiple drivers. There's no way the D/R and Jewel cubes are of the same build quality. The Paradigm Cinemas are built better, too.
There's no point in the LS systems because you can get better for the same and less.
falkenlaser 2 years ago
Also, if you wanted a $4K small speaker system, you could get:
4x Paradigm Cinema 70s (2 as fronts and 2 as rear surrounds)
2x Paradigm Cinema ADPs (side surrounds)
1x Paradigm Cinema CC (center)
1x JL Audio f110 Fathom subwoofer
A Yamaha RX-665 receiver w/ iPod dock
A Sony BDP-S550 Blu-Ray player
A Logitech Harmony remote
This would be like $200 more than the LS48, but TOTALLY worth it, especially with that JL Audio Fathom sub in it. That ultimately shows just how overpriced the LS48 is.
falkenlaser 2 years ago
Sure, in terms of pure sound quality, the LS 48 is totally overpriced, by about 50%, however, you do need to count in to the fact that not only does Bose have excellent customer service, their features of their system are worth the price to customers that are more simple and less caring about their sound quality, and want sleek, small speakers, EASY TO USE AND SETUP, and IMPECCABLE customer service.
Also, name one other system w/ HDD that can stream to 14 different locations at once?
FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
I will say this: I would NOT, EVER, pay that much for a Bose system. I, personally, am past the Bose sound quality and have moved up.
However, Bose DOES have a VERY clean and crisp sound that is very enjoyable and appealing. They DO provice MUCH better sound quality than their made out to be, and in some areas, MUCH better build quality. They do dump a lot of money into research, and a lot of audiophiles are simply ignorant and insecure so they bash Bose to feel safe and secure. It's sad.
FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
If they dumped a lot of money into research as they claim they do, they'd have:
- 7.1 surround sound
- Dolby PLIIx, TrueHD, DTS Neo: 6, etc.
- A Blu-Ray player
Things even the least expensive systems these days have.
But lol you just keep thinking their stuff is high-quality and worth the money. You're the only so-called "audiophile" that thinks Bose is high quality. Heck, a lot of people I know that aren't even into audio know Bose sucks. Compared to the competition, Bose stands no chance.
falkenlaser 2 years ago
Sure, there really is no excuse for not having the advanced audio decoding features, and they HAVE systems that allow you to use a Blu-Ray player. They still should have one now in their DVD-Only systems - one is probably coming.
However, they don't offer 7.1 because it's not the mainstream, and most users will not want to take the time to setup 7 speakers, but simply have the normal five. You still have to realize Bose's MAIN market; folk who are more simple and less caring of features.
FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
I actually talked to the salespeople at a Bose dealer, and they said their systems won't be coming with a Blu-Ray player in the foreseeable future. But then, you're right, Bose dealers are kind clueless.
For how much Bose charges, a system should come with 7 speakers. Also, Pro-Logic IIx converts 5.1 soundtracks into 7.1 surround sound.
Also, my roommate has a Companion 3, and its woofer is extremely "boomy" and "artificial" sounding. My 8 in. Jamo sub plays much lower and tighter.
falkenlaser 2 years ago
That IS stupid of them, and un-excusable - at least in their LS line.
Yeah, that would be appropriate, but they understandably don't do so because A.) Jane and Jon doe aren't familiar with 7.1 B.) 7.1 is NOT mainstream. Also, their D/R cubes create more of that filling space that other speaker designs (it's really not a gimmick, it DOES add spaciousness), however, it would be appropriate to include extra speakers for the price, but it's part of the Bose premium.
How much is your Jamo sub?
FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
Yeah I don't get why the $2000 LS28 doesn't even upconvert to 1080p!
Those D/R cubes would indeed be good surround speakers. They kind of remind me of dipole surrounds, which is what I own. They have an un-centralized sound field.
My Jamo sub I believe was $300. It has serious punch and power for a down-firing 8-incher. It's not mine; I stole it from my family's downstairs surround system. I really wanna get a Paradigm DSP-3100 for myself. It's $550, and is a BEAST!
falkenlaser 2 years ago
That is ridiculous, but Bose has always been slow to adopt new technology.
The D/R cubes are excellent speakers all around, but, again, are overpriced. Paper is some of the best material to use as a speaker driver. Bose knows this, and THAT'S why they use paper, I'm NEARLY sure. No other material would allow them to get such smooth, clear sound w/o adding tweeters - most likely. I haven't heard other full-range systems such as Orb Audio, but I do know, for a fact, paper is excellent.
FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago

Bose is serious quality, but overpriced.

It's not even a matter of debate, it's a fact.
newusername132 2 years ago
Technically, you're ignorant; Bose designs their speakers with intelligence and quality engineering.
A.) They use ROUNDED cube enclosures to cancel out standing waves.
B.) They use fiber-glass or pollyfill stuffing to deaden and cancel out standing waves.
C.) They use great quality, stiff paper drivers with cloth surrounds, cloth dust-cap, EXTREME excursion for such a small driver, and a HUGE magnet.
Have you ever felt the weight of a Bose cube? They're VERY heavy for their size.
FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
The Bose Acoustimas is an utter scam. I don't know about their car gear, but I wouldn't buy anything from a company that markets to morons (like Apple) and sells speakers for $1000+ when they cost about $100 to make.
newusername132 2 years ago
You're ignorant and an idiot. Period.
FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
Hahaha, you're beyond hope.
Any company that markets shuffling as their own invention is beyond sad.
newusername132 2 years ago
You're absolutely PATHETIC and a DISGRACE to audio and technology.
Here's the facts, k? :
Apple makes VERY solid, innovative, and EXTREMELY high quality software AND hardware that no other company can match. Period.
The Mac Pro is one of the MOST POWERFUL consumer machines you can buy for the money. Apple also really lets you get into their superior-to-Windows OS by giving FREE programming tools and aid to get you on your feet.
Apple's OS is based on Unix, which you're too stupid to know.
FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
Also, everything you're saying about Bose shows how ignorant you are:
There's no EQ employed to make up for deficiencies in the Bose cubes' performance - because there are none (or very little and very few); I hooked up two of the older, but current style (there are different internal designs of the bigger, older ones, and the better, newer, smaller ones) to my KLIPSCH iFi and they sounded INCREDIBLE!
Extremely clear and smooth.
The Bose cubes are excellent full-range speakers.
FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
Also, you're obviously ignorant in that you don't know that paper is one of the best materials for speakers. Period.
Bose sticks with older designs for a reason - they're some of the best!
Bose products ARE overpriced, but they're still HIGH QUALITY, Hi-Fi products.
Also, there's no NEED for binding posts (that's what you meant, not "banana clips" - they're "banana plugs" btw, not "clips") with the cubes, the high quality speaker cable that Bose supplies (copper cable & thick) is plenty.
FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
Maybe you hadn't noticed, but pretty much Apple's target market are MORONS that don't know how to use anything and need someone to dumb it dowe. Garage Band, for instance is one of the most dumbed down childish programs I've ever used. Macs crash constantly, they're only benefit is that you get fewer viruses because less people give a fuck about Apples. "iPods" and "Podcasting" are also unoriginal/stolen ideas that they slapped their name on.
newusername132 2 years ago
Apple's target market is for SMART, INTELLIGENT people who know what a quality computer is; superior hardware, superior software, superior company. Period. Unix-based OS, MUCH more secure than Windows, and superior integration.
You're an idiot if you think it's "dumbed down". It's more streamlined, and much more powerful than nearly ANY PIECE OF SOFTWARE Windows comes with. GarageBand is EXTREMELY powerful if you know how to use it, especially given it's low price. Apple is for smart peeps
FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
this comment is just shocking. you're brainwashed.
Apple even says in the commercials, flat out, "If you're retarded and don't understand anything, our computers are for you."
newusername132 2 years ago
I'm done arguing with you.
This is pointless and stupid. You're obviously an idiot when it comes to technology, so I'm not going to even try, and really there's no point. I really don't care what you think.
Now, quite being so annoyingly ignorant, and have a good day.
FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
Also, that comment of me saying you drool on your keyboard was a bit low, essentially me calling you retarded, however, it is very disgraceful to use the subject of retardation in an argument as it is disrespectful and low to people with mental disabilities.
Point is: I'm not going to stoop to your level.
FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
I guess you have a lot of retarded people in your family?
newusername132 2 years ago
No; my cat is more intelligent than you, and of course, our cats are the least intelligent creatures in our family - but of course, that still isn't saying much for our cats to be more intelligent than you.
I'm sure you go around sniffing butts, only to match the look of your face with the odor as well. Sad, but some people are simply disgraces to humanity.
See, there's no mentally disabled people in our family, however, it's called being respectful to people who are, such as yourself.
FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
Hahaha, you're pathetic.
Have you no concept of respect?

FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
A Bose salesperson told me the Acoustimass module isn't a subwoofer because it can't play as low and plays too high. You shouldn't be able to hear voices out of any separate bass-producing speaker in a system. This means if you put it near your CD rack or wherever, it'll sound as if voices are coming from your CD rack and not the TV. Very poor imaging.
Also, I don't think I could find a more reliable source than a Bose salesperson for information on their systems.
falkenlaser 2 years ago
If that sales person said it doesn't play as low, then he's an idiot himself.
First of all, play as low as what? There are "subwoofers" out there that only go to 45Hz! Or Even 35Hz!
Their SMALLEST AM module, their Companion 3 AM module, goes down to 33Hz! He's an idiot if he thinks they don't go down that low, because they respectably do.
The AM modules are designed to where the mid-bass really isn't that directional, as well as their latest incredible AM module of LS is verynondirectional
FeeLtheHertZ 2 years ago
you just need some subwoofers to go with that now if your not into bass i say get a nice 8' mtx just to put some bass in the car

I love Bose...i have the same bose speakers now for 15 years and it is still fantastic. Buy Bose!!
mathijsmug 2 years ago
No everyone......Before you buy Bose, go check out Paradigm, Wharfedale, and Bowers and Wilkins. Those brands destroy anything Bose makes; even a system consisting of their least expensive speakers would destroy anything Bose.
This person most likely has never heard, or even heard of, these brands, just like all the other people that think Bose is the best. Don't listen to these people; they aren't the audio experts they think they are. REAL audio experts know Bose is overpriced crap.
falkenlaser 2 years ago
i seriously can not believe that you guys think Bose is actually good. Have you ever seen what there made out of.....cardboard people...cardboard.....all Bose does is just feed off of its well-targeted audience which would be the ignorant, ill-informed, mass-market consumers who search for simplified hifi audio solutions

dukviper90 3 years ago
dude, srsly, if you don't like Audi, why even watch Audi videos? and bose was designed for better sound... like bass... if bose was made for crips sounds.... why would it have such big bass?
Evopoper95 3 years ago
Its called a sub! and i didnt watch this vid for the audi..it was for the bose system. take away the sub and u got nothing bud. Thats the reason why i have a small 10 inch shallow sub. To give it alittle oophm. i preger clear crisp over heavu bass anyways.

Bose is nice in the A4 for sure. But even Bose say they design car audio systems for real music...not boom boom rap music.
