The principle of the bridge between the two microphones to get different combinations of strings resonance with an electric guitar was already used in early 1987 by the guitar player and composer Mathius Shadow-Sky:
very cool! but don't you lose the justly tuned harmonic relationship between the lengths of string on each side of the metal as you use frets? Or was the relationship pure to begin with?
@JLMoriart : The harmonic relationship occurs on certain frets: open, 5, 7, 12, 19 and some other where high pitched overtones all of the sudden occur. Some other frets are more death when it comes to the reverberation. I tune the guitar to the composition in such a way the dessried resonance or the desried lack of resonance occurs on the played tones.
@yurilandman Gotcha, that's sweet that it's a dynamic thing depending on what you want to get out of it. It'd be awesome to play with a guitar tuned to just intonation so that almost every fret was a sweet spot with the extended bridge, or even to go fretless...
