As a Portuguese speaker, I must say it's a wonderful experience to listen to Romanian songs! Not only for the pleasure of listening to such a beautiful language, but also because... it's so much fun! The words look familiar, but sound so foreign! :D Without @dyyacool's comments, I would never have understood some lines, such as "sunt ai mei frati", "cand vom canta pe partitura unui munte" and "luna nu va mai vedea flamandul lup plangand". It was hard to identify even such familiar words! :)
@BRDisney romanian is one of hte furthers easter roman latin based language. while portugese is the furthest most west i wouldnt be suprised i was just in a class discussion on the possible evolution of the latin dialects
@kaindrg That's true, the distance plays an important role there. Also, we must remember that the Iberian Peninsula was invaded by Romans centuries before Romania. Languages change a lot in decades, let alone centuries! :D
What I find most interesting is that I can understand a bit of written Romanian, while the spoken language sounds completely foreign. :)
SPECTACULAR! My bff was adopted from Romainia when she was litte. But she still remembers some of the language. And she taught me a bit. Mostly how to count. This is such a beautiful language. It reminds a lot of of Italian. I thought I'd hit the jackpot of rare versions of this song when I found the Hindi version. But this is just something else. Thank you very much for sharing it.
asta e vocea Alinei Eremia :)

Din rodul dulce-al viei sa gustam/
Sa ne-mbatam cu roua de pe grane/
Fara sea mai intrebam pe ea cat dam/ also known as the lyrics from 1:45 to 2:00?

@Robodl99 Come on run through the hidden alleys
(actually Din rodul dulce-al glie sa gustam) Fresh fruit from the earth to taste
Let us (get drunk/drink?) the dew from the grain
Without asking (on it as we give?)
Pretty close translation

FRUMOS! ÎMI PLACE VERSIUNE ACEASTA MULT!

@Hiraku7 me too, I speak French and Spanish fluently, and some Italian, but this just sounds so strange, beautiful, but so foreign
Joshua26ism 7 months ago
@Hiraku7 It's definitely the romance language that was the most influenced by other non-latin-based languages.
