I have a moderate case of this secondarily through fibromyalgia. Noticed especially during massages when my feet and hands were ice cold but the rest of me was warm.
Great video. I also have Raynaud's and wrote an article about Raynaud's and 'Ways to Warm Up'. I used your video as an example of how cool & warm water affects people with this disorder. Here's my article - thanks for the video! squidoo.com/31-ways-to-warm-up-raynaud
I've got Raynaud's too! I'm always just like "dammit, my fingers went all derp on me again..."... warm water is the way to go for sure. I can help it out by putting them on my body or in front of a heater, but it's a lot faster to use water because of its high rate of heat transfer.
I love this ..I have it and i live right outside philly thinking of moving south for the warm weather..I have diffused Schleraderma too anyone have any advice?? Love and God bless to all!!
"Bid my blood to run".. haha perfect song choice. I have Raynauds.. sitting with a hot water bottle, cup of tea, slippers a jumper and a panda hat atm! =/
Learning medicine while listening to Evanescence... Perfect. I've never seen it in my career but i never thought it was so evident. Thanks for uploading
I remember I was on holidays in France when it first happened to me! I was totally freaked when I saw my finger! It's never too bad with me though I can just feel my toes going numb in school on cold days but I wear tights to school so I can't exactly take em off and stick it under a tap lol! I'm always sort of fascinated when it happens though!

Your hands are as bad as mine. Have you found a way to stop it during the winter or cold seasons and weather? The only thing i got is to wait until the blood returns.
It does hurt a bit and sting when the blood returns to the fingers. Raynaud's in my feet is much more painful, but the pain does go away when they warm up (Usually in about 15 minutes).
ive had this since before i can remember, i get it once a day, the worst its been was when it went to my wrists, there is no cure its genetic, gingko biloba leaf helps apparently but i cant be arsed buying the stuff so i just get on with it...over the years my hands have turned into rocks a little scolding water fells like fresh air after what my hands have been through :D
@TheElement328 mine started way before that im 15 and its quite bad. if i was you id start doing more exercise and other thing to improve your curculation cos it can get bad speaking for experance.
Interesting presentation! I got this today for the first time and it scared the sh** out of me. Had never heard of it. Probably since it doesn't usually get as cold in Texas as today.
I got diagnosed with Raynauds Disease today :( its so painful, and people just don't take it seriously. i work in a place where there are some heated areas and then freezers and chillers, so its hell for my circulation x
@justjessicajane Okay so yesterday my hands turned blueish purple but they didn't hurt at all I was outside, wasn't wearing gloves or a thick coat and this happened.. do you think I might have raynaud's or is it just that i didn't have enough circulation to my hands? please help!
@Tayuya12611 -- I wouldn't like to 'diagnose' you as I am not a medic in any way, I'm just going off my own experience... Personally, when my hands get like this, it's very painful :( my hands tend to go completely white, then they turn blue and when the blood is properly circulating again my fingers swell slightly and are red/purple in colour... The best thing you can do is go to a doctor just to make sure. There's no cure for Raynauds, but there are plenty of preventative measures.
I always use lukewarm water and make sure it touches my palm before it reaches my fingers. Can't feel my fingers and don't want to scald them....
Raynaud's disease is a vascular disorder that causes intermittent interruption of blood flow to the extremities. See your doctor right away if you have a history of severe Raynaud's and develop an ulcer or infection in one of your affected fingers or toes.
I have this too. Don't your hands HURT when they get like that?? My hands are so painful when they get cold, I can't stand it. No idea why I'm living in MINNESOTA!!! LOL! Even with mittens my fingers (and toes) freeze all the time. De-frosting the freezer is TORTURE.
i have raynauds syndrome.Ieven a supermaket is too cold for me.Try to refrain further iirritation to the hands. Tasks of dishwashing is not good. My hands change color with each season. I no longer can work an outside job. Take Care of you hands.
I don't get it quite as bad as that. I once put my hand in boiling water when my fingers were white and I could feel my blood boiling. Worst feeling ever.
@Obsidian1392 The phenomenon, also known as Reynaud's syndrome, is caused from a variety of other health issues, while the disease has no cause or cure. To be sure it is not the syndrome, one must undergo a series of tests, (quite a few vials of blood need to be drawn, might I add,) to indicate that there are no known underlying illnesses that would cause such a phenomenon. Speaking from experience, I'm glad to have the disease, rather than the syndrome. :P
@Obsidian1392 disease is the primary disease, while phenomenon is secondary to something else, mostly autoimmune disease like Systemic Lupus Erythmatous
a friend of mine was just diagnosed with this and she didn't really say much else other than that her fingertips get numb in cold weather and turn blue. Her's is apparently life-threatening. It may be secondary to her cervical cancer.
