You play this piece extremely well, it must have taken alot of time and immense effort to get it under 4 minutes with few mistakes. Could you please tell me what notes you hit at the start of the finale where the right hand plays the D# and the octave higher D# (sorry for the bad description), it sounds like what Kemal Gekic did at the end of his recording, I'd like to play it the same way
Waw, I just discovered that you also have recordings on your own here -- and you play so amazingly well!! I love the sudden little accents and sforzandi throughout and your use of rubato. This is a much more "living" performance than many by well-known pros. 5*
Truecrypt, don't make any excuses for yourself. Your playing speaks for itself. You risked some technical baubles to seize the inspiration that gave rise to this piece. I wish more pianists did that!
good job! i once played this and it was the greatest fiasco of my life... when i played it in public everything just went sooo wrong lol! i notice some slips here and there while you play, but they don't mess with the overall effect. in fact i liked it very very much! i want to steal your hands!! right now!!!
Last time I tried to post a comment here, I forgot to click the button. That was a case where I followed the score and noted some very original ideas. It could be said that this recording would make a person famous in all of the world. But here on the tube it gets less than 5 stars because people don't know who it is that is playing it. I give it 5***** and that's only because that's as many as it will let me give it. Bravi!
of course you are russian and that explains a lot,and it's not a surprice for me after hearig many of your uploads.......and for sure nothing to do with argerich, not because i don't like her playing, but here you have controlized playing,so not exactly argerich......... bravo!
Try to turn your R.H. to the right (elbow insight) so fingers 4-3-2 are actually above the single key. This way you won't need to change the position. So, the palm is not perpendicular to the keyboard but almost parallel. The tips of your fingers will align with keys and repetitions will become much more comfortable to play.
@truecrypt sorry, do tou mean "so the palm IS NOT PARALLEL but ALMOST PERPENDICULAR" or you mean the oppsite (as you wrote), because I 'don't understand. Thank you
Palm is *parallel* to keyboard but the wrist is turned right so tips of your fingers (4-3-2) would be aligned over the same key. By doing so you can eliminate extra motions and be more precise.
@truecrypt Kudos to you for your playing, and for accurately describing a position in enough detail for someone to learn it. So many music teachers can't describe their way out of a paper bag, and expect you to just feel out crap like that.
Good, very good. Muy buena interpretación, no sabía que Vd además de tener tanto gusto musical (lo digo por los videos que ha seleccionado) también tocara, pero era de imaginar que con tan buen oído y gusto no lo haría nada mal.
Pretty damn good! A bit heavy-handed for my taste, but you can obviously get around the keyboard, and with some flair! Please post more of YOUR readings. You have great force and courage in your playing. And lest I forget, thank you endlessly for the extraordinary historical recordings you have shared with us. I have had so many hours of joy and learning thanks to your efforts. Bravo!!
You are just awesome! This was incredible!! I want to play just like you!! This is a great La Campanella! Precisely played! Its my dream to play this piece! Amazing recording!!! =)
If my ear is not playing tricks on me, this sound A LOT like Jeno Jando, the only thing is that I´m used to hear flawless recordings from Him. Anyone out there´s with me?
@truecrypt there was an italian pianist who did not play abroad for many years and getting old he accepted to play in germany. I speak about Fiorentino. the Siemens foundation and conservatories did open their concert hall for him and we have quite some good recordings thanks to these concerts which additions to the official recordings of his youth and the live recordings in italy... maybe such a travel to germany could stimulate you too and bring other contacts.... its never too late....
Your performance underlines what a great pairing Liszt and Paganini is, 2 who laughed at difficulties, and played with joy. This joyful, devil-may-care quality is what you bring out. What do you admire in Ginzburg's performance? His neatness?? This piece is not at its best done neatly. It needs what you give it (the same thing that Friedman gives it!).. carefree joy in playing. I'm sure the audience (leave it in!) appreciated your playful music making, which makes them a part of the fun!
it is beautifully phrased. i agree the beginning was a bit of a shock. I tended to play them just more in the distance. when I performed and yes it s on tape it has many more wrong notes.
I know - it's far from perfect - many missed keys, too rough, probably *over*-excited. This is a payment for taking risk and lessening control. "Passion and control" are Scilla and Haribda while navigating through such piece on stage.
This is the only recording I have... It was recorded 7-8 years ago. I played piano for half a century. Yes, I studied and played Transcendental Etudes ;) Yes, I have big hands! ;)
Being over-excited is even BETTER! I think people just want to hear the 'gradual' and basic dynamics, that they themselves are boring! They don't know what they talking about at all. They can't even play a thing, so we shan't care about what they say! You are not boring, and when I hear all your playing, you are so different. This is exceptional, excellent and exciting! The mistakes you make, make it even more lively and wonderful! I love your passion, energy and love.
Have you played the Feux Follets . it s the only one worth playing with Chasse niege but it s exceptionally difficult. Im not talking the pagannini of course. It s a real pity we can t see you though :( (or are you Mikhails twin brother)
No he is BETTER than Mikhail! You know the first time I heard this man I didn't sleep all night. I tried to figure out who he WAS. (and compared his recordings with famous pianists.) He MUST be a famous pianist! (I thought.) And he just wants to TEST us! (to see if we can discover it.)(I still don't know.)
truecrypt,
this is a very professional and note accurate performance. How old are you and when did you start playing the piano?

BTW, when I say that the piece is not at its best done "neatly", I speak of an approach, not a result. A better word might have been "cautiously".
