I love this track. I was just listening to Ice house- hey little girl and I never realised before how much their lead singer sounds like David Sylvian.
Each to their own. I was drawn to this song by comments about another band and thought I'd check it out as I'm not familiar with Japan. Very Bowie-esque or early Roxy/Ferry but sorry - not particularly catchy. Please don't bag me for saying that. Just an opinion, nothing more.
the difference between Roxy Music and Japan...drama. Ferry was cool, but Sylvian and MK really knew how to make you feel nervous and unsure, wanting something grand, but not wanting to see it in the light of day. Ferry had the pose, Japan the gravitas...
Did not get my first record player till around then for my birthday. Remember running to record shop to buy this. Even after all these years still love to listen to this guy.
@DrChuckBMD Yeah, Whatever you say Brisbane..I don't have time to deal with neophytes such as yourself...Don't bother me with this..You can take a nap now..
If you took Simon LeBon, John Taylor & Nick Rhodes from Duran Duran & mixed all their DNA together to create a human ....this human would look exactly like the singer from Japan.
the group JAPAN was decades ahead of its TIME. still is, because they produced real AVANTGARDE MUSIC. these days its...wait, black eyed bears, or something..no i am wrong, these DAYS there is NO forward future music.
@Bunty1962 You are so right in stating that they were under-rated group. David Sylvian's voice and their music was ahead of its time. Simply brilliant!
@801liveable If you can't make the difference beetween Roxy and Japan, it's a real problem. In fact, music taste is not a matter of beeing ahead or behind of time, innovative or what else ! OPEN your ears, your heart and listen to japan's alchemy THE BEST group of the late and first 80's
Japan and David Sylvian!

This really is good, 70s glam rocker myself, and the verse on this is a bit too sub-Ferry, but the chorus is sadly beautiful, underrated song.

Such a simple song but haunting..........Japan a fantastic and under-rated group in the 80's. Love this song, what a voice.
