  • Wish I had more than two years to study with Shelly -- that time is priceless to me! :-)

  • Wow, it's good to hear Shelly play again. I had the absolute priviledge to study under him back in the day (1990) at San Jacinto Jr College in Texas. That was the year before he moved to USC. We also played the Montreux Jazz Festival that year, all thanks to him. I don't play jazz/big band anymore, but I have continued to play various types of music and he's the reason. It was an experience that can't be duplicated.

  • Shelly is the most inspiring artist I have ever met. Not only is he one of the wisest music philosophers alive, but his music is selfless, brilliant, and soulful.

  • that alto player is amazing. who is that?

  • shelly is awesome

  • haha I would have liked to have studied under him, but I'm goin to his rival school UCLA next year :)

  • That's too bad. Shelly is probably the best overall piano player alive today.

  • i'm with the roosevelt highschool jazz band from seattle, and we actually played this exact chart, and I'm the pianist on this track from the kplu school of jazz cd we recorded in march. But i didn't sound at all close as good to shelly berg, he's killin!

  • he is a good player, saw him at USC jazz day
