  • Too bad tht beauty and talents masks true character

  • Her voice is so perfect.

  • i love the lyra, so bewitching !!

  • Thank you Loreena! Your music keeps me in the right dimension as I finish writing my dissertation on medieval Arabic poetry. I love what you do!

  • God, I love this woman's voice, especially on "Never Ending Road".

  • Is the bass guitarist playing a fretless bass guitar?

  • @612Matthew yes

  • @SonicGland Thanks! That seemed a little odd to my eye!

  • is it possible to find the DVD anc Cd togheter? I can't go on official site Quinlanroad because is under restoring or something like. This is one of the most beautiful song that you made Loreena!!!!Godess bless you Loreena )0(

  • Wonderful!!

  • Increíble. La voz de Loreena es como el viento del desierto cantando de viajes que no duermen.

  • ..breathtaking.....

    GREAT Performance!!!

  • I'm so pleased you have made more videos available. I have not been fortunate enough to see you live though I wish I did. Your music is refreshing and astounding. Thank you!

  • Why the MTV channel doesn`t show us that great music?!!!!!!

  • Oops I wrote wrong "Shakespeare" on my last message.

  • I love Loreena´s music! And I started to read Shakespeare since she began to sing about his work. Please Loreena, keep on singing more about Shakespearse, maybe a Sonet...or something of Yeats. Thank you for singing for all the world!

  • There is darkness about me. Her voice echoes in my mind. I am at piece and one with her. My heart rejoices in never ending dance

  • Does anyone know the name of that small violin type instrument the man with the glasses is playing?

  • The instrument is called a Lyra and the musician is named Sokratis Sinopoulous.

  • hi there mothball1972, the name of the instrument is cretean Lyra or in Turkish Classical Kemenche but name of the guy is not Sokratis Sinopoulous, his name is Stratis Psaradellis, i just wanted to correct the message below, they are awesome and as a Turkish man I am so honoured with the name of this song THE GATES OF ISTANBUL!!!!!

  • Expil, you are correct it is Stratis Psaradellis and not Sokratis Sinopoulous. I have no idea why I wrote Sokratis' name in the response above.

  • Hmmm, Sokratis Sinopoulos was the lyra player who performs on the official recording of 'An Ancient Muse' and 'Nights from the Alhambra'. Stratis Psaradellis accompanies Loreena as lyra player in her more recent concerts. Given that Psaradellis has long hair and no glasses, and given that I have met Sinopoulos personally (and that he wears glasses) I would say, with some reserve - because the face is not clearly shown - that probably the lyra player in this video is Sokratis Sinopoulos.

  • Not quite sure though... hmmm

  • @expil Yes, lyra although is not a turkish instrument but greek so the Stratis Psaradellis

  • @athas23 Who said Psaradellis is Turkish? or who said Lyra is Turkish? why unnecessary nationalism? I love this music no matter who plays or no matter what plays!!!

no doubt Turkish & Greek Culture has lots of similarities there are things Greeks got from Turks and there are things Turks got from Greeks, I do not mind at all, that is how culture is being created. I said I am only proud of the name of the song as a Turkish man, I dont think you would say İstanbul is Greek too...

  • hey what can I say but beeeeeeeautiful!

  • Wow I love it so much, thank you Loreena and QR! <3

When was this recorded anyway? I know in 2007 but in which city of her tour?

  • 2008, sorry

  • she is not from this world or ?

  • All I can say is BEAUTIFUL

  • Angel

  • Thank God I when I saw her live in Chicago I loved loved loved the live version of Gates of Istanbul and am glad to see it somewhere again.

  • Mesmerizing! To have such a beautiful voice is an amazing thing.

To also be one of the most talented musicians & songwriters on the planet is incredibly rare & unique...

  • I saw this show ! it was incredible :-)

  • Me to! Amazing Woman! Unforgettable

  • It must have been wonderful!!!!

  • Loreena is so great! I love her music so much.

  • What are the words to the song that she is singing before she sings "The Gates of Istanbul"?

  • That's just a vocalization that she does versions of as an intro to some songs. Basically it's stuff like "Na la la na ni da."

  • Thank you very much for the reply!

    You're awesome! :)

  • I MUST HAVE THIS DVD!!!!!!!!!

  • It's brilliant! :D You'll love it! I've watched mine three times so far *got it yesterday* and today let my history teacher borrow it. The Highwayman made me cry. It's a very interesting watch.

  • This performance of Gates of Istanbul just knocks me out...

  • A great video i only miss the harp too make it An Irish Celtic Harmony.

    C A Lancelot

  • I have it, it's great!!! :-))

'quinlanroad' you would add the words "Loreena" and "Mckennitt" to the Tags, this way it'll be easier people find your videos. Thanks Quinlanroad for the last summer great tour. I attended 4 of the concerts in Spain and all of them were fav, Loreena's team works as a Swiss watch even Santiago's clock bells wanted to participate ;-)) Laura&Jose

  • Hey, would you happen to have the actual DVD performances (full versions) that you could upload???
