there actually plenty of cards you can use in mac pro , but officially only few are supported, fortunately in the next update it willl support gtx4xx and ati6xxx series, of course if you use windows on it, you can use any card

i run crysis (original) on my amd quad (3.4ghz stock) and gts 250 with 4gb ddr3 ram at round 30 fps max settings 1440x900 res (windows 7). i wish i had a 30in lol. i have a 19in screen atm.
quick question, do you have to use a video card from apple? cant you just buy 1 and pop er in? i just spent 120 bucks on a bfg gts 250 for my recent budget build and it plays modern games above 50 fps (exept crysis of course). gta 4 i get 50 fps and resident evil 5 i get 75 (locked) and cod4 i get like 250 lol
@TheCompyshop You can sometimes get a generic PC version of the card and then flash the code, but it's a little bit of a pain. I put that board in there because the ATI (x1900) ran HOT as hell and actually made the MacPro unstable. So, I went for system stability. The 8 core runs CRYSIS under Windows XP at "full everything', and it's driving the 30 inch cinema display, so no problem there.
my sony viao isnt plastic lol. and ibm laptops are very sturdy as well. and im pretty sure that 96% of the market share agree's with me. and btw, pc's have more programs than the mac to make all of those podcasts and photo editing most people do on there mac. if you want to start a war on youtube with me ill be glad to bring it.

In my studio I have a power mac g5 and I hate it! Over heat! Over heat! Then the freeze... Yes it is due to the g5 being so compact! 4 Drives and 16 GB of Ram should never have an issue... It's so sad I have a Dell 4500 with only 2 GB of Ram and the Radeon 3600 HD card in it.... AND THIS OLDASS PC WORKS BETTER! By Mac

@romodrummerjz don't know bout alfred, but i recommend a 8 core with atleast 8 gb of ram for HD video. But i assume by recording studio you are talking about audio, so in that case i would say a 4 core should be fine, and is much cheaper. and 6GB of ram should be enough. I almost have acquired a 8 core 3 GHZ mac pro 2,1 for 1300, with 18 gb of ram, so it will be a nice step up from my macbook pro. I'll get back to you once i have reviewed it and tell you if i think a newer four core will be fine

It was when they first changed the name from PowerMac G5 to Mac Pro. So back in the beginning of 2007 or end of 2006 I think.

Haha, wow I haven't done any upgrades to my computer since 2000, I am only running on 1gb ram 100gb storage and a Nvidia 6000 series... Wish I had a computer that powerful.
Another great video alfred, keep it up wiith the vids! They make my day no matter how good or bad my day has been.
