I was there and remember this bit well. Sheena Easton was an Ill-advised inclusion at this stage in the day, but she was big in America at the time so she probably wouldn't have accepted another slot. The music just wasn't going with the groove of everyone else, but her reaction just made the crowd's reaction worse. Pity, as the whole day was great.
Yes, her accent morphed into a strange MidAtlantic twist. Thats what happenes when you live in a foreign country for a prolonged period of time. Geesh, I wonder if Cary Grant ever got booed when he returned to England...
She was booed and things thrown because earlier in the day she had slagged off Scotland and it was shown accidently on the big screens. I was there, great day out. Wet Wet Wet @ George Sq was superb :-)
Seem to be a few small minded resentful Scots here. Those who pelted her and the ones with negative comments. Does she deserve that? She took off to America in the 80's as in the UK nobody bought her music! There was a lot of crappy stuff about here at the time but she recorded a lot of good pop songs. Mind you I don't think much of this. Good luck to her: she's living somewhere where her talent is appreciated. Doesn't need Scotland -or England. Some actors make it abroad, why not singers?
@Tam1297 where you say, "but I do have a problem with 'crappy old Scotland'.
I'm a deep proud Scottish Nationalist. I was their when S. Easton got (rightfully so) boed off stage, under a hail off bottles & cups filled with pee. This is a 100% sanitised version , edited by her PR Peeps, both audio & video. I'm totality indifferent to her.
She swore she would never return to Scotland after this, "as I'm loved in LA & dont need Scotland now". Good riddance I say. What an ego, for zero talent
Scots luv local peeps that do well. Prior to her arrival at the Big Day, she had made some derogatory remarks to The Press, very belittling in her tone & comments. Was as if we should be over the moon & be ultra pleased that she had graced her with her presence. Now Scots people don't like that & made it clear with the bottles of urine that where thrown at her to get her of the Stage We didn't want her their & with that kid on accent.
Wrong place to get your ego massaged. Stay in La La Land!

I seem to remember everyone was booing because she had left Scotland and moved to the US of A.

@Tam1297 No worries....and I really do want to visit Scotland someday. Not a narrow-minded bigot here. I'm more liberal than a lot of Americans.:)

@Tam1297 I was teasing. I hear Scotland is gorgeous, but it sounds like you have a chip on your shoulder about Ms. Easton. God bless.

Who needs crappy old Scotland when you can make it big in the United States. We welcome Sheena with open arms!
