What a rocker ahead of his time. I moved to Australia in 1982 from Assen, where Herman was born and started with Harry Muskee in the band Cuby and the Blizzards. He lived like a real rockstar/artist.
RmonSP good point, the Stray Cats WERE Rock'n'Roll, but the mainstream scene at the time was jerky dancing, electronic, all a bit less directly from the heart than the music I love. Oh, and we had pastiche soul like Boy George, great voice, but everything became once removed and theatrical like a musical.....
Hey look me up of facebook, lots of musical links, plenty of early rock'n'roll too (as in 40's music!) :) Rik van der Velde in Perth, Western Australia.
Have seen Herman several times live in the early and mid 80´s, always great ass kickin´ performances. The 1983 paradiso (Amsterdam) concert I´ll remember as one of the best live concerts I´ve ever visited.
Miss you so much, Herman! Seen you through the 80´s & 90´s every year in early december with this line-up. Was always a great experience and a lot of fun. Thanx a lot for posting cobain94!!!
the song ladykiller is written by HarryVanda&George Young, aka Flash&ThePan,wich can be recognized by the phrase "walking in the rain, wich was the B-side of Hey St.Peter.
George Young is an elder brother of Angus, from AC/DC.Small world isn"t it?
Yes, he does, and he's awsome and always will be! His name is David Hollestelle Jr., to be precise, David Hollestelle, his dad, was a famous dutch opera singer.
Fantastic to see this again; I was the (Australian/Dutch) soundman for some of these shows: this band rocked, remember, it was a very un-rock'n'roll time, the early eighties....
@rikvee yes,but this song was from the 1970ties,as are most of his other famous songs.
I did see him live, in brunssum, south of limburg, holland in 1978,he was so drunk and stoned that i ask myself if he even knew where he was,but the gig was okey, especially' ' saturday night''
@D1rtyDuck i do not know if you live in another world, but herman brood was on drugs, most of his life, and he also drank regularly, and i am telling you, he was doped on this concert,he was pretty much ''far gone''as they say because of booze and drugs
@mitsupitsu44 yeah but what I'm sayin he didn't really smoked much weed or something , he used speed and heroine and that stuff, don't tell me, ;) he always doped out on stage, he wrote his songs doped out, I know everything about it, I've been "Studyin" this guy

Don't you remember the Stray Cats?
They were VERY popular in the early 80's, and they played Rock N Roll...well, the played Rockabilly but it's similar to rock'n'roll.
