Blueman & RobinCarmody if your like me you will remeber the good old days when there were meetings like this on TV alot and i wish channel 4 could bring back these along with Greyhound racing. They used to when meetings were called of show greyhound races from Hackney,Harringay etc as part of the ITV7 and Thanks Robin for posting this. Yes RACING UK are taking all full clips away and why ? cause they dont want us to watch these great races or meetings
@therecipenetwork NO IT ISN'T. Ra Nova was a completely different horse, and a much classier one. Good job they never ran against each other- that would have been "a commentator's nightmare".
I remember the race at Chepstow if im not mistaken was the Birney Inns Novice Chase final. It stook in my memory bib time with the leaders falling all the way down the straight boy how the internet layers would have a field day with that race today. As for the last 1 it was the first full race i posted on youtube and had loads of views until racing uk closed it for copyright so hope your shortened version lasts on here for ages. The shortened version doesnt quite do the race justice its a classic
Yes, that was the Chepstow race - 1st December 1973, when all other racing was frozen off and many horses were withdrawn because the going was considered dangerous. It was also a rare ITV visit to Chepstow, hence Raleigh Gilbert's commentary.
The first race here is from Towcester on 3rd April 1976, the same day Rag Trade won the National, the third is also Towcester, 20th December 1980, the fourth is Doncaster, 25th February 1984.
He (Tropenna)was remounted and was the only horse to finish the race. He went on to loose his remaining eight races. As a matter of fact, that was the only race he won in his 23 race career.
Gees, I must be getting old. I recall clearly the RA NOVA race. There was a Stewards Enquiry

Run Over, 1.05-2.08, still one of the most amazing performances ever seen.
