55% of the Russian people do not want the State-Socialistic system back. They keep voting for Putin (though I use the word 'vote' in a lose sense when it comes to Russian democracy). The older generations share nostalgia for the 'glory days' of the USSR, but the new generations are increasingly entrenurial and capitalistic. Although I am myself a socialist, capitalism is not experiencing a crisis. The international market may be turbulent, but nobody is seriously considering any alternatives.

I agree that capitalism seems to be going through a crisis, but alternatives are not being considered in mainstream politics in any developed nations despite all the economic and political unrest (Alternatives are being tested in nations such as Venezuala under El-Presidente Hugo Chavez). Indeed, socialism is the future.

Soviet Union collapsed because the communist system fell apart. No trade, no competition no free enterprise. At the beginning USSR was running fine but because of that the economy eventually died out and thats when the people began to starve.
