  • I've actually never played Altered Beast. But I definitely will check it out.

  • I agree with James Rolfe on this one. "Altered Beast is a nut kicking feast I can't stand in the least."

  • WELCOME TO YOUR DOOM!!

  • sega genesis is the greates console ever made in my opinion....SEGAAA !!!!

  • Great review. Brings back memories as this was my first game for the Mega Drive. I played the hell out of it with my brother.

  • love the review!! You are amazing man, I couldn't get by the dragon part.. for some reason.. haha love it brother!

  • Nice review, this is actually one I've never played.

  • @implantgames (Faints. Falls over. Hits head on end table. Lies bleeding on the floor for a few minutes.) Uhhhhhhh....what? You've never played Altered Beast?!?!?! (Faints again.)

  • Nice review.

  • Altered Beast: Not a bad game for its time.

  • Wow, how did I miss this upload? Another great review, from both you and John. I loved it ^^

  • LMAO!!!! wow altered beast, I choose arcade version. Great review VVGG!

  • 1000 view

Like the review say are you going to start doing this were you bring in other youtubers for commemtary and comparrisons

  • @PhantomOfTheGamer If it makes sense I will, but mainly it will just be yours truly.

  • Loving the intro.

  • Awesome classic game. It's one of the few I remember from Sega. Thumbs up. Great video.

  • cool

  • Great video and review Vintage and loved the comparison between the arcade and mega drive/genesis that was a really nice touch and it was super idea to have John on board, you work very well together :)

  • hey I like sort and easy.....too many games to play and not enough time to do it in. Great video!

  • Nice review, and it was cool of you to have John on.

  • Yay, nice colab and nice video!

And you completely fixed the volume problem from the last video.

    Thanks!

  • I was kind of pissed when I got my first Genesis and it came with Altered Beast, and I already had Altered Beast on the Master System.

  • ALTERED BEAST!!!!!!!!! Sega System 16 games are amazing

  • morgan freeman and vintagevideogamegeek ... the greatest narrators

  • @ScottSchymanski LOL...awesome comment.

  • @PissedPlayinPimp Ok you're just being stupid nevermind.

  • @PissedPlayinPimp Lol!!! A couple of people making the bear look like they're having anal sex is your source? First of all i really don't care if someones gay but why would Sega be wasting time and money just to turn children gay?

  • Great Review man, I love Jūōki (Altered Beast) The Arcade has hidden speech and graphics in the roms but sega never finished it , I was told there was to be 8 levels

    :)

  • @PissedPlayinPimp You're joking right. I hope you're just trolling and i'm the sucker who took the bait.

  • @PissedPlayinPimp Homosexual agenda? What? O.o

  • VVGG AND mamecade! My mind has been blown!

  • always thought Altered Beast was overrated. though I did enjoy the arcade version a little (played on the Sega Ultimate Collection for 360)

  • Oddly enough, I have the Genesis cart for the actual system...and I bought the WiiWare version on the Wii, but I found out the Wii version is a lil bit harder for whatever reasons.

  • Great review! Can you do a review of the SMS version? Thanks!

  • @nihilistbr Yes! But it won't be for awhile.

  • @vintagevideogamegeek there was a famicom version of altered beast made in 1990 but it had 8 levels harder diffculty and 3 new beasts

  • @alteredbeastliker I was not aware of that. I'll check it out!

  • Great review of a classic arcade game! Fans of Altered Beast should definitely pickup a copy of Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for PS3 or Xbox 360 as it features both the Arcade and Genesis versions on the same disc.

  • nice review

  • Cool doing this duo presentation with John! :)

  • @markvergeer Yes, and I only made him redo his part once! LOL

  • Too easy? I find it impossibly hard.

  • @shaurz What version are you playing?

  • @vintagevideogamegeek Mega Drive. I've never got further than the second level, maybe I just suck badly :-(

  • @shaurz No joke? Try the options menu to give you more lives and energy. That's what I do! I believe you will want to hold down the B button and push start at the title screen.

  • I'm probably in the minority here, but I've never liked the game. Not in the arcade and certainly not on the home consoles. The Genesis/MD version is certainly not the worst home conversion though!

That said, fun review guys! Really liked that you brought John into the video too, I love these co-op video's!

  • @HalfBlindGamer Actually, there's a lot of people that don't like it....and they're all WRONG! :-)

  • Wise from your gwave!

  • @Harp00nX lol

  • I always thought it was his cousin he was looking for..anyway I maintain this game is not easy on the PC Engine. Great touch from John, I'm very find of those side by side comparisons. Lose the bear, keep the dragon.

  • @futurematt5 I like the bear. it's fun turning stuff to stone. Do you have the PC Engine version? Do a review!

  • Great review guys! a true classic that can never get enough coverage!

  • Sega barely tried to convert the Arcade version to the home. The Sega Genesis is plenty capable of Rendering visuals just like the Arcade , SEGA Genesis can do SCALING and Colors and Guts animations and Sound samples every bit as good as the Arcade. They probably just didn't want to cannibalize their Arcade market. What A-holes.

  • @stringanime I don't know, I thought it was okay...LOL

  • WiiiiiiiiiiiiiiISE frum da Guaaaaaaaaaaaave~

  • @ryanc519 Best video game line ever...

  • Rastan was my favorite back in the arcade days .... ya hear

  • @TheCornCobbers I do. MAMECADE did a good review of Rastan.

  • @TheCornCobbers I will check that out bro.... Thank you

  • awesome review! this game is one of my favs! NEVER GIVE UP

  • T'was a good review. i had no idea that the arcade version of this game has no parallax scrolling. i never noticed that when in front of the arcade cab. i also just noticed that the graphics differ slightly as well. Note that when you defeat an enemy, their limbs pop towards the screen in the arcade version. i never noticed that until I saw this video of the arcade version! Thanks for doing a different take on the first ever pack in game for the SEGA Genesis! :)

  • Two of my favourite tubers in one video!

Great work guys, love the review (:

  • @Broshmosh Yeah!!! What you just said!

  • I used to play this shit all the time back in the day! I love it. Even the music is cool shit!

  • wise from the geek.

  • @crippledbazooka Ha ha! Good one.

  • That was fun to do, take care VVGG.

  • @MAMECADE Yes sir, it was!

  • YES!!!! I Love this game! I was just playing it earlier! I have both the genesis and sega master system versions of this game!

  • @messyvideogamenerd Me too!

  • i remember how amazing the screen shots were in the magazines, it had so much detail it was amazing in your life when you got all this detail at home!!! i remember playing the arcade, there is a coin landromant with the arcade version you can play today in my city of santaana california, the genesis version is a nice job well done and i like the the bad guys voice better in the genesis version, i bet you can make a arcade perfect version on the super amazing sega badass 32x

  • @edotsuki333 You're right, I wish it came out for the 32X.

  • solid review

  • AND RESCUE MY DAUGHTER!!!!!

  • Awesome game, dude! I love the music in this game for the Sega Genesis. Someone by the name of .NAV composed it.
