Great words. I often have a difficult time navigating the space between my desires and the expectations of those around me (parents, therapists, friends, etc.). With labels, at a certain point I began to question my identification with trans* at all. Sometimes I just say that I'm independent, but I generally vote in the women's primary, to use a metaphor. Or else I say I'm GQ, and involve myself in the project of womanhood.
