  • There are UFOs, there is alien life. Unfortunately for us, these aliens are not the UFOs that we see.

  • Wait a minute, he says there are less UFOs sightings by astronomers. Does that mean that there ARE UFOs sightings by astronomers? Of course, zero is less than any sighting, but he could have said "none" instead of "less".

  • I'd pay to see this dude in concert, stand-up style.

  • Nicely said, I don't buy into the extraterrestrial visitor hypothesis. We are just too far out of the way for such a casual encounter. Also, try to realise that any ET further than 100LY from Earth, would have little chance of actually knowing we are here.

  • Watch out, we got a badass over here.

  • UFOs make sense. Consider an advanced civilization 200,000 years ahead of us. Im sure they know a few things we dont. The aliens most likely have their own version of SETI. Earth would be a prime target to search. An analysis of our atmosphere would make interesting data. Objects peforming in ways we cant, would be a characteristic of craft from advanced races. Take an apached helicopter to the middle ages, and try to explain it. Thats only 400 years or so.

  • Futher more, when he talks about testimonial evidence, we can all agree that it is not the at all the most concrete evidence, especially when it comes from ordinary citizens in society, but you can not so easily discount the testimonial evidence submitted by military air force pilots, who's accounts can be verified on radar. soo UNIDENTIFIED flying objects are real, now believe what ever you want on whether or not certain governments have full extensive knowledge on UFOs.....

  • he enjoys attention, instead of really talking about evidence that are not witness accounts provided by Numerous countries including United States of America. The evidence "documents" that have been released by these governments show picture, and radar confirmation.

  • He's a brilliant man.

In the end though, he's not discounting ANYTHING about the alien or UFO phenom. He's just stating science can't make a claim unless they have proof, and the facts that lots of people might mistake natural phenomenon for the UFO. He's and he's BRILLIANT. But in the end he's still not seeing the bigger picture. There are some things that can't be mistaken. There are some things that cannot be unseen.Maybe many people are imagining ufo's.But I guarantee you many of them aren't

  • @cloud0123 Yeah, well, he's your typical science guy. Sometimes I think we'd be better off without the scientific method.

  • Based on some projection there may be several hundred times as many planets as stars. Even with this maybe half or so of the planets in the Solar System would not be known around the nearest star, at least a large fraction of the points in the night sky are not even one star but several close together ones and it is now known that more than half of sunlike stars have planets. Our universe is a big place maybe 10^10^10 times bigger than known think about that.

  • Three people couldn't grab the ashtray.

  • As much as I like Neil,....this argument/comedy routine is old.

Show me evidence...or it doesn`t exist....blah blah blah

There are crazy people...blah blah blah....

    Neil,..nice comedy routine.

Some of us wanted to hear some real thoughts on the subject.

  • he's right, but he doesn't need act like such a jerk about it

  • So they are not unidentified we just dont have a complete I.D. to detaill, they might be from other galaxys, other dimensions

or parallel universes that its possible, what is not possible and i refuse to believe its that millions of people

around the wourld are liars or crazy folks or people needing new glasses.Sometimes when something that seems

so miraculous or hard to happen is thrown so easy we have a hardtime aknowledge, thats all.

  • Next stage,if they are machines that fly who are certainlly not from earth and are stated to transport

beeings inside who must surrely be from the inteligent kind then we can assume we know what they are and even better

what they arent, they are not swamp gaz dr. neil and planets, comets or stars dont change courses specially several times

in few minutes or follow jacts like many pilots say.

  • And if he believes in those millions of people who saw it only then he should start thinking on severall aspects,

first aspect they fly PERIOD,second they are machines PERIOD,third they have beeings inside, fourth they are not from

our planet,to who believes in the sights these are all facts and cant be refucted otherwise than saying well i dont believe at all.

  • I love this guy, funny, smart as hell, smooth talker,he´s brilliant. But its here where our roads go separate ways,UFO´s are not unidentified objects, you must take things by stages, first dr. Neil before saying us to pay attention to the U in UFO must realize if he believes in the tellings of ppl who saw it,if he doesnt believe its over and he shouldnt even talk about ufo´s beeing whatever he thinks they are or what the U stands for...

  • @NLPCPNL And your credentials are? Are you an astrophysicist?

  • @camelotradio

Why does someone need to be an astrophysicist to realize that technology that doesn't exist on our earth, must be not from our earth? I'm not saying UFO's exist, but credible witnesses have stated that they saw flying discs with incredible technology. The only point I'm making is that Tyson is playing a word game that doesn't hold up when looking at the details of certain cases.

  • @camelotradio

Since when is identifying a technological phenomenon in the air, part of the training for an astrophycisist?

  • @camelotradio a minute, his premise is true, if something goes from mach 10 to 0 then it is probably being controlled intelligently. that is probably true. in this, if A then B. his conclusion is false. He says B, therefore there has must been an A. In this argument, he has already assumed that something is intelligently controlled, therefore it makes sense to him that it was going mach 10 to begin with, without even looking at the possibility that his eyes were mistaken.

  • @NLPCPNL And your credentials are? Are you an astrophysicist?

  • @NLPCPNL And your credentials are? Are you an astrophysicist?

  • @camelotradio can you ask that again? I didnt get it the first time

  • @camelotradio It's painful reading you attack his probable lack of credentials when there is an alarming and much more glaring complete and utter failure of logic in his or her post.

  • @NLPCPNL How could it be aliens if its unidentified ?

  • @mitchTwitch

How much is 1+1? People observe objects that are under intelligent control and make use of technologies way beyond our human capabilities. It's not strange to think they're alien. Or do you think they are controlled by dolphins or some other intelligent underwater species?

  • @NLPCPNL no i think its unidentified. i dont know what it is so i say that is something i cant identify.

  • @NLPCPNL what facts? his point is that he doesn't presume to know the facts, and doesn't think you should either without sufficient evidence, because witness testimony doesn't actually make a difference.

  • @raikoh05

He doesn't know the facts, because he didn't do any research. But hey, if the debunkers want to continue pretending that there is nothing going on be my guest. There are declassified documents that show that the US government takes UFO's very very seriously while there official stand is that there is nothing going on.

Just google "Twelve Government Documents That Take UFOs Seriously" and read the website and then tell me nothing is going on...

  • @raikoh05

Recenlty the Head of the UFO files in Britain Nick Pope, admitted that the government had an active policy of ridiculing UFO's. Why is that?

And go on youtube and watch the lecture The Black Vault and UFO Secrecy - John Greenewald, Jr. LIVE

This clearly shows the US government is blatantly lying about their interest in UFO's. They actually take it very seriously. But their policy of ridicule has worked very well, juding from Tyson's views and his arguments for it.

  • @NLPCPNL

Claims of UFO sitings definitely didn't start in this century, or even the previous century.

Recorded UFO sitings have been popping up from many different time frames of recorded history.

  • @NLPCPNL

    And you sir are ignorant^^

  • @SolsticeRyosake

Oh ok, I'm ignorant now. Can please explain to me what Trumbull Ohio was? Phoenix Lights? Hessdalen? Zimbabwe 1994? Westall Australia 1966? I bet you don't know half of these cases, so why would YOU call ME ignorant?

  • @NLPCPNL

Simple, there is no specific proof, until it's been released it never happened^^

  • @SolsticeRyosake

So what you're trying to say is that your parents are not your parents until they've taken a DNA test?

  • @NLPCPNL

Well, you can't know that for sure until you've taken a DNA test, that's obvious, can't you see how you're undermining your own argument here ^^

  • @SolsticeRyosake

Why are you trying to evade my point? Without proof it never happened, that's what you're saying. So you're also saying that you refuse to call your dad your dad and your mum your mum until they've taken a DNA test right? You don't even see it yourself, but science is not everything. Science is a tool that helps us understand the world. You're treating science as it's a religion.

  • @NLPCPNL

Not evading you point at all, You obviously do not have all the facts, i could find things on wikipedia claiming what you did, and that's a "Accurate" source, We humans could easily without the publics knowledge have made advanced technology in any form, and your examples are shit, if anything were to accelerate from 0 - 10 mach, within seconds, would, according to physics mean, that you die, i will rest this case, drche420 has already blown to many holes in you're arguments

  • @SolsticeRyosake

And if you have all the facts, as you make it out to be, put them forth(as if people haven't tried already) and prove the public and Neil wrong and so on, You are most likely to be ignored, as someone asked what you're Credentials are etc, can't see a reply, And also, where did Religion come into the picture^^ i don't believe, i prefer to know^^

  • @SolsticeRyosake

Exactly, according to our physics you would die. And that's the extra-terrestrial hypothesis can be a valid one. Apparently we are dealing with technology not of this Earth, or many credible witnesses are lying and hallucinating. But since you know it all, what is your opinion on the COMETA report and why should I take you more seriously than the high-ranking intelligent people who drew up this report and concluded the extra terr. hypothesis is the best to explain some cases?

  • @NLPCPNL

Way to make an argument from ignorance. You should have been paying attention. Just because you can't conceive of humans producing technology capable of behaving like you described, doesn't mean humans haven't. Your fallacy is obviously ignorance.

  • @drche420

I see what you are saying, but then you need to explain why secret technologies are being tested above towns and cities causing a panic under civilians and police forces and you need to explain why the airforce is scrambled time and time again to chase the secret technologies owned by their own government. This has all been documented very well.

  • @NLPCPNL

Irrelevant. If you see something in the sky you can't explain, then you can't explain it. You either can't explain it or you can. It seems like you're stuck in an argument from ignorance: "I can't think of how/why this could happen, therefore it must be X, Y, Z, etc."

  • @drche420

It's irrelevant from the point of cold hard evidence. It's not irrelevant when looking at the matter deductively. I'm not saying there is hard scientific evidence that proves beyond any doubt that we are being visited, I'm saying there are serious clues that point the way of alien visitation.

  • @NLPCPNL

I'm not interested in what you consider "serious clues", aka your intuition. I am only interested in what is demonstrable. Deductive reasoning fails us when our premises are false. Unless you can demonstrate your premise ( extraterrestrial technology ), you have no reason to believe either.

  • @drche420

What in the hell do I care about "believing"... believing is the same as saying that you don't know. I don't want to believe, I want to know. Nowehere have I said that I believe. And if you think that 400 witnesses from high positions within the military, intelligence services, airforce and so on are not credible and can't be taken seriously that I pity you. Keep on hiding behind science. At least I'm intelligent enough to know that science is a tool, not a religion.

  • @NLPCPNL

You're confusing knowledge with absolute certainty. Heads up, absolute certainty is useless. I only "know" something beyond reasonable doubt. If there is significant doubt, I do not claim to "know" something.

  • Comment removed

  • @drche420

You're playing stupid word games just like most "skeptics". We KNOW that at least 400 high-ranking people from within the military, airforce, intelligence services and so on say that it is likely that Earth is being visited or something of the sort. And these people share their stories with us, they don't just give their opinion. Either they are whistleblowers or they are all crazy. I think we should at least take them seriously and you apparently don't. Have fun hiding.

  • @NLPCPNL

Word games? If you think my sincere debunking of your idiotic comment to be a game, we are done here.

  • @drche420

So you think the generals and colonels in the Disclosure Project are all liars?

  • @NLPCPNL

Either they are lying, or they are mistaken. I do not presume to know which.

  • Awesome, the only mystery here is that 3 dislikes. Wtf is wrong with you, people?

  • Neil is like a modern Carl Sagan with a wicked sense of humor (humour for our friends in the UK.

  • @dondude69 Hes very entertaining :D

  • Great talk, funny stuff lol

  • @ViperRob42 Yea I thought so too. Hes a beast.
