  • ha! omar was pissed!

  • i hope they do this at coachella for lols

  • I'm from Chile, and the people from here, we love moshing and body slaming in concerts, but we're always careful of not hurting or crushing people, or at least that's what my experience has been, so IT IS possible to do it without it being dangerous. Thing is, I actually love ATD-I, but I think its so... contradictory that a band violent and energetic like them on their performances, ask people not to go nuts, I just don't agree with it

  • cry baby. go to a hanna montana show if you don't want to deal with what happens at a punk rock show

  • Heroin is a hell of a drug.

  • fuck this band. and fuck that cedric shit head.

  • I love the band. They're one of my favorite bands ever but I can't say I agree with them on this one. Moshing, slam dancing, etc. is just part of heavy music in my opinion.

  • Every fucking time I go to a concert I have to dread some big stupid socially retarded neanderthal who has to compensate for a low IQ, lack of social skills and/or malformed genitalia by headbutting and running headlong into anyone in the near vicinity while other people are trying to watch the show. It's a big deterrent for a lot of people.

  • i used to think cedric and omar were pompous assholes, and you know maybe they kind of are, but in this situation I actually completely agree with their sentiment because what the FUCK is a girl supposed to do with some big neanderthal knocking them around, or one crowd surfing on top of them? It wouldn't be fun, and I know a lot of people don't want to mosh at a fucking rock concert, go see some band with masks (lawl) if you want to mosh.

  • i agree...even if i was a little slam dancing punk in the 90's, but CMON CED. you were playing music, that for the most part, was VERY closely related to punk (not so much hardcore, or "emo"...but punk). OF COURSE you were going to get slam dancers.

  • Omar's like "fuck you guys! I'm going home."

  • slam dancing = not cool. surfing in moderation = totally ok with. IMO

  • Omar just flips shit lol.

  • Seriously slam dancing gets so annoying because people who usually do that don't honor the mosh code and just fucking stomps around and do fucking karate kicks.

  • think they should do some other music. what idiots o.O

  • wow Cedric, if youre a simple "rock n' roll" band fuck off, fuck "rock n' roll" and fuck you. at least HARDCORE bands understand the crowd just wants to have FUN. fuck this pretentios artists, crowd surf, dance, mosh, do what the fuck you want, because its YOUR SHOW TOO

  • @br4ve no

  • The only idiot in this vid is Cedric, if he considers their music art, who the fuck is he to tell people how to enjoy it or to single out one guy in a crowd and blast him for having some fun

  • Wow, I'm glad he stopped for that rant, the song was awful. Doesn't this guy go crazy and throw stuff, jump on people's backs and climb walls? Then he gets pissed off because the fans are crowd surfing. What a whiny idiot.

  • Omar gets so fucking pissed right before they stop. fuck yeah!

  • Music does certain things to certain people, who gives a fuck; let people do what they want. This is why I like Crica Survive. Same kind of music, but better structured and they encourage the crowd to do wtf they want.

  • dude, as much as I love them, over-reaction much? And honestly, they were post-hardcore. so it counts.

  • @woogawooga22 Yeah same here, and i was at the front thinking was going to get crushed.. Nothing. But it was great thought.. means i can enjoy and pay for attention to the show and not have to worry about getting hurt.. why pay 80 pucks to come home with a black eye.. I fully agree with Cedric and the rest of the ATDI crew that moshing is for tools.

  • Fuck I wish people werent pussies these days about moshing and crowd surfing, Cedric should stop playing music and take up work as concert security, I missed the good old days with cool bands who didnt give a fuck if you were crowd surfing or stage diving, the good old days of Black Flag and the good old days of GG Allin.

  • @GEETARS3

Some of us go to concerts to hear music and to dance. Not to get hurt/hurt people.

  • @MykeMetyll

there are plenty of places were you can dance, the pit usually only takes up 10% of the room unless its like Slayer, were everyone goes to mosh anyway.

  • How would you feel if you were the guy crowd-surfing though? You'd be so gutted, he got absolutely blasted just for showing his love for the band. Sure, moshing can be annoying for people who don't mosh, but At The Drive-In surely warrant that style of dance with the nature of the music they play. They may not be a straight hardcore band, but it's still heavy music. If they don't like crowdsurfing, fine, but I don't think they were really that fair with this.

  • Just play the fucking music. I didn't pay to hear you bitching about the dangers of crowd surfing or mosh pits. Those who partake in these activities know the risks. God, there's warning people to be careful and courteous and then there's just being a preacher.

  • @shitdavidblaine That's not the whole point. Ramifications of some idiot getting hurt at their show can affect the band, on top of that some douchebag whirling around could hit someone whos minding their own bussiness. If I pay good money to watch a show and get there early enough for a good spot up front I dont want to watch for arm spinning and tornado kicking cunts who get their shits and giggles by ejecting sweat from their shirtless body to my face. I applaud what Cedric said.

  • @espChris93

Good point. However, I think there may be a better way to get the point across without coming off like an asshole. Maybe there's not though. Personally I'd be turned away from the band if I had to hear this myself, but other (more loyal) fans cheer in agreement. We just happen to want the same goal, (no douchebags hurting other people purposely in the pits) but disagree on how to get it done.

  • @shitdavidblaine I definitely agree with you on that. I dig the message not the way it was delivered. Cedric and Omar, obviously they're both well spoken, educated musicians but even in interviews they can come off douchey and pretentious. At some point they must get tired of making the same speach at every venue for months, but I bet there is rarely someone moshing with actual bad intentions. Usually it's just someone who doesnt think about the negatives so he could've handled it better

  • @espChris93 Actually there's a surprisingly large number of people who mosh for the sake of hurting others. Especially during the late 90s and early 2000s when shows started getting more violent due to old hardcore goers hating on the newer, younger generation. But I see what you mean and you're right even now they're like "yeah our band is fucking great, you wish you were us." I love ATDI and The Mars Volta but if I ever met them I feel like it would ruin my opinion of these guys

  • Can anyone transcribe what the fuck he is saying? I think my ears are broken.

  • i love atdi and tmv...but cedric is a hypocrite. dude threw a fucking mic stand into the crowd

  • I love how the guitarist just slams his guitar down in anger haha so good

  • WE ARE NOT A HARD-CORE BAAND!!!

  • Haha, it's so funny how anal he is about that. I guess it's cool though.

  • Moshing is all well and good in my opinion, in the right environment. If I go to a Black Dahlia Murder show and stand in the middle of the floor, I'll understand if I get pushed around. Then again, I understand why someone would get mad, or annoyed at some asshole slamming into them, or kicking them in the head at a Mars Volta show. You don't go to this kind of show for that. This music makes me want to dance and sing, not hurt people.

  • @woogawooga22 Yeah...he's from space

  • Cedric is a bitch. He and his band labeled themselves a hardcore band on their first album. Fuck him...He is a crybaby. And a Sellout douche.

  • @JohnnyXneverlistens nah moshing is just for dumb asses immature fucks and when did THEY label themself as a hardcore band?

  • @JohnnyXneverlistens right back at ya, slick.

  • @JohnnyXneverlistens ??????????????????????? Get the hell out of here with that, you must be one of those moshing/slamdancing idiots...

  • Absolutely agree with and adore Cedric. Such a great person.

  • Fuckin Idiot.

  • come on guys, they are not whiny babies. it's their show, they have their rules, and if you're going to go see their band at their show, you should have to follow their rules. if you throw a party and said "no alcohol and no drugs", you'd be pissed if some guy brought a keg.

you do not have an entitlement to mosh. the band does not have to do what you want, it's the other way around. if they said "don't smoke", then don't fucking smoke. if you want to mosh, go to fucking warped tour.

  • lol they cant understand him

  • I'd have loved him to grab me like that, i would have ripped his fucking fro off.

  • @woogawooga22 agreed. Cedric is gay fag hipster boy. Needs a beatdown, stat. What a goddamn, whiny baby. Seriously.

  • While I do agree with Cedric's point......Omar's reaction is priceless!!! xD

  • A few ppl here are missing the point that a band jumping around on stage is different from a massively crowded floor with idiots 'moshing'/slam-dancing while other ppl are just trying to get outta the way and move like normal ppl. I am 5'3" 120lbs....that shit can be dangerous....I don't wanna get crushed by idiots 'cause I went to see TMV. One person was killed at a show TMV played at a while ago...I mean come on. It's just fucking stupid.

  • @woogawooga22 Yeah, what a wimp. Scary like he's gonna scold you if you get out of line. He is the first Hipster Dad. Yay for PC indie rock! Fail.

  • punk is for pussies!

  • @MrMeddled yeah, that always bothered me too. i sort of put up with it because cedric is plain crazy, and because i'm not a hardcore fan.

  • @havenet You'd be surprised (or maybe not) how many people find people moshing / crowd-surfing around them to be extremely annoying. I love seeing people get into it and not standing there like lifeless drones, but I think the band could tell that people were being hurt by the reckless actions of people that didn't give a crap who they were knocking around, so long as they were having fun. It may seem 'dumb' to some but I would feel the same way if I was on that stage

  • @SiN3MATIC-That's too bad. It's even worse that the band had to be good cop/bad cop about it. Incidentally, they spazz around so much on stage and their music is so spastic, they kinda outdo proper h/c or even metal bands for that matter. It seems to me like they're just hogging all the attention like the autistic pretty boys they wanna be. Fail.

  • @SiN3MATIC

cedric threw pridgen's cymbal into the crowd when they played sasquatch music fest. does that not exhibit the same recklessness and disregard for others as a crowd surfer?? not very consistent with what he seems to advocate in this vid.

  • @SiN3MATIC

I dont care about people who dont like Crowd Surfing/Moshing then should learn how to party and stop going to gigs.

  • @havenet after a band reaches a point of attention any injurys of deaths can be pinned on them, remember on the news bout my chem being blamed for mosh injurys at there show a few years back? i dont blame him, but ha i like how he grabbed him and told the other guy off

  • @PhilUpProductions sorry, i don't follow my chem romance. irregardless, homeboy in at the drive-in was out of line. it's not his job to monitor the crowd; it's the job of security. i've been to countless metal shows and there is an inherent self-policing going on to insure against dumb people getting stupid and hurt. maybe that clown cedric needs to go to some before he gets on his high horse. fail(again). so lame.

  • @havenet i know there is sucurity, and cedric isnt so anti violence anymore, ha there is a clip of tmv where he is throwin shit in the crowd. maybe he wanted to make a positive influence in his younger days?

  • @havenet they did the same thing in big day out..and guess what a girl got crushed to death..u shouldnt be going to a concert thinking u might die or get severly injured

  • @tanvo93 that sux.

  • @havenet They made a speech about anti moshing at a show before. Later that day a person was killed from a mosh pit at that same show.... I guess Cedric was right

  • @havenet Agree with Sinmatic. Not to mention that at almost every ATDI show they asked the crowd very politely and non pretentiously to not mosh during their set. Omar and Cedric were particularly against it as to them ATDI wasn't regarded as a post hardcore band, they simply played music they enjoyed but hated being grouped together with "hardcore" kids. The rest of the band were into emo and alternative so I doubt they wanted moshing either.

  • @Grunge00125 yeah, sure. Irregardless, their music is dance-y, if not 'mosh-y', so it's stupid and gay that afro-boy would get all big brother about kids just 'dancing'. play in a goddamn church with seats if you are so into people not moshing. anyway, cedric can suck a dee. what a douchebag. :)

  • @havenet the most ignorant comment on youtube ive seen in awhile.

  • When I saw this vid I read "Rant at the drive in" and lol'd.

  • how was he singing but not having a mic near the beginningish...???

  • I'm sorry. I love at the drive in. I think they are one of the best bands ever but at 1:33, I cant help too laugh cuz omar looks like a 2 year old who didnt get a cookie. :)

  • So, it's not okay to mosh or crowd surf, but it's okay to hurt someone who is by pushing them over?

  • I saw them in July, 2009 at Somerset House in London... The band and music were great, but the audience were a bunch of Octahedron moshing dickheads. A couple of mother fuckers even tried to start moshing to THE WIDOW... For fuck sake this is what is wrong with music: The audience.

  • @Dan070 how can ppl come close to slam dancing to octahedron let alone THE MOTHERFUCKING WIDOW! >:| fuck ppl are so stupid these days! if you wanna slam dance go to hardcore shows if u wanna dance then just blast music in your room or go to a concert such as a the mars volta concert. damn! btw nice comment u make a good point

  • I love how Omar throws his guitar at the fan!

  • i dont speak english, so anyone could tell me wath cedric says?

  • Can the GERMANS in the crowd even understand what they are saying??? Surely not all of them...

  • dont crowd surf? haha what a loser. but really, why would he even care.. what does he have against crowd surfing or moshing. i understand moshing can suck a bit when some hardcores get in there but.. crowd surfing? dude seems controlling.

  • @woogawooga22

at the first mars volta show i was at, cedric kept encouraging us to dance instead and thanked us once we did (easily the best show i've ever been to) and the second, i guess there was some moshing going on stage left and he said "i see there's a lot of testosterone in this area. just shake your hips instead, man." and then all movement stopped for the rest of cavalettas, but resumed to cedric's delight afterwards and they gave us a sick show.

  • Awesome.

  • That was pretty raw, the most intense actions i've ever seen from them. WOW.

  • lmao

Jim - "Do not crowd sur-"

    Cedric - "YOU'RE A FUCKIN IDIOT!"

  • @Supaduck0 hahaha classic.

  • NICE

  • 5 stars!!! well done cedric!

  • not trying to be a dick, but what exactly is the point of this post? it has already been posted on youtube in superior master quality.

  • I wasnt aware. Besides, you've probably gotten a few more blog views from this vid, so everyone wins

  • hahaha

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

    nice
