@DanielConnellyMM Definately, agree with you 110%. Like most bands the demo tracks that never make the cut are usually the best and most raw versions of the songs that you will ever hear. I don't like staind anymore( since about 2003) but if you listen to their unreleased shit, it is soo much better than anything that they have put out in the last 7 yrs. yeah, i like modest mouse's old stuff too. i'd like to add that theres some great live performances on youtube of modest mouse. they improve alot in some of their shows. i like the 99-01 shows best. one i'd recomend to get u started is if u search "modest mouse 2 hour" first hit (image is close up of guitar-in-hand isaac). pretty wild.

Hard to do since they have a few that were very hard to get and a lot of the early congs were reworked into other songs. But I agree, as good as they are now, the earlier stuff is the best, and I mean the best their is.

Look up The Fruit that Ate itself, not definitively the earliest but as early as you can get and still call it an album. Listen to it like 20 times, how much it grows on you will blow your mind.

yep, it was absolutely the rawest sounds from them, and went so well with both their styles and the themes of their music. I'm really surprised they're into the over-produced sound they're doing now. it just doesn't seem to fit, but I guess no one wants to make the same music/art for decades..

Amazing song. They're old stuff is better in my opinion, but the new stuff is still amazing. If they kept the same sound and didn't evolve they would bore all their fans away. Them making new sounds and such is what keeps them original and unique in the first place.

Just saying: If you listen to something pre-Good News and the music that was popular around that time and then listen to Good News-We were dead and the music thats popular now, in my opinion, the newer stuff is more different that whats popular now. I can see why new MM is very much liked, it is nice like the other new alternative music. But you cannot blame people for being mad they had changed.

These fans discovered beautiful origonal music and hoped to grow up with this amazing band, looking forward to more of what origonally drew them to MM. Fire it up, Dashboard and Float on are pretty easy listening songs, but certainly not pop. The rest of the songs are different in style to the first few albums, but definately arent main stream.

I like their old shit A LOT more than their new stuff, but in reality, I would probably get sick of their music if they kept releasing the same shit.

Bands need to evolve, the new stuff is still good.
