  • wtf is thaaaaaat lol c:

  • great species

  • Beautiful. I've been to insect fairs before, but they didn't have anything this interesting.

  • Eww,That spider was in Fear Factor!!!

  • I FORCED MYSELF to watch this video, to help me get rid of my arachnophobia... its.... kinda working.?

  • Woah, I hate spiders, I'm really afraid of them, but this one actually seems nice :3

I don't mind that one, strangely enough ;D

  • oh my god thats one scary spider looks like a hybrid between a camel spider and a crab and those long leg spiders!

  • Pfft. And everyone says Harry Potter is the only boy who survived an Avada Kedavra curse. Look! That bloody cave spider survived too!

  • that is one ugly madafacka!

  • CRUCIO? AVADA KADAVRA? IMPERIO?

  • I've heard that these spiders loves to cuddle. Is that true? :)

  • @Adso90 It's possible that one of their natural behaviors, such as resting, may look like cuddling and that's how that saying came about. Don't know for sure though... maybe one of the other viewers might know something... (please do tell if so!) =)

  • Did anyone notice the 'eyes' on it abdomen. Beautifull x

  • ewww! these are nasty!

  • Are they harmless?

  • @GoldenGuns011708 they are harmless, theres a video oh here of that old show fear factor and this ladie had to eat one

  • @itscodyw So far as I've heard they are very docile and make good pets... I've never heard of anyone being bitten, pinched, or otherwise harmed by them, unlike the characters in Harry Potter might like you to believe! :-) Thanks for checking it out!

  • God I'm in the bug part of youtube again

  • these seem to be relatively docile

  • @ZephyrColtan It sure seems like it - It never acted aggressive, and I never saw it move very quickly either. It may not be able to move fast at all... Thanks for checking it out!

  • Gah!

  • Ahhh evolution... what possessed you to make this creature?

  • @devolution1717 It indeed a strange looking critter! Thanks for stopping by :-)

  • It looks more like a crab then a spider. I believe its a spider, but its very similar to a crabs anatomy.

  • @AtomicStarBurst I believe that spiders (and insects) are somewhat closely related crustaceans, so the similarity is probably fitting... It does look more like a cross between a crab and a scorpion than a spider to me!

:-) Thanks for checking it out!

  • @JCMDInature spiders are no more closely related to crabs than millipedes are, while they look the same the only real connection is that they're all arthropods, spiders belong to arachnida while crabs belong to crustacea. So they are related, just not very closely :) nice videos btw i subbed

  • @ZephyrColtan Interesting... I couldn't find too much info on the arthropod genetic family tree, 'cept for what there is on Wikipedia... Thanks for the view and info! =)

  • I just caught this cavespider, better drink my own piss.

  • I would rip my arm off '-'... just sayin'

  • This is awful, i hate spiders with thin legs such this

  • For some reason that spider, even though I know it's huge and nasty, doesn't scare me. I'd hold one.

  • @EchoSP1 Once you get over the inital scary-looking visual, it's fairly easy to warm up to them as rather friendly and harmless... :-)

  • It looks scary ! O_O

  • @Camaro4Lyfe3 Scary indeed but seemed quite friendly :-)

  • CRUCIO!!!!!

  • OOO he's missing a whip!

  • @Stillwater900 I hear that they can grow them back, too! =)

  • They ate these things in Fear Factor, it was hard to watch

  • 0:27 It's a frog!!!

  • shit that's real?!?!

  • @saltypop13 Yea - I was surprised too - I thought the thing in HP was a creation of some animator...

  • does the missing leg regenerate like tarantulas do?

  • @Xyonon I heard someone say that they do grow them back, although it probably takes a while to grow back a really long one like that! =)

  • AVARDA KEDABRA ! ,....ouh shit it´s still alive !

  • i love how the advertisement for this video was terminix....

  • I usually find the commercials annoying at best, but some are actually pretty interesting or funny, and sometimes they are so ironic that it makes the feature video even better. The Terminix commercial would probably have been better at the END of this vid... "Got Cave Spider problems? Call Terminix!" XD Thanks for watching and commenting =)

  • what a beauty

  • @ohyourgoingdown Thanks so much for checking it out! =D

  • i fucking hate spiders !

  • Yep! I was surprised to find that these were real too! :-O

  • KILL IT WITH A PHONEBOOK! SMACK THAT THING SENSELESS WITH A SMASH BROS HAMMER!!

  • can u buy them?

  • I think so... You might try looking up the website for KenTheBugGuy and see if they can be purchased and mailed :-)

  • Aww.. One of its feelers broke D:

  • As I understand it, they can grow them back... :-)

  • harry potter

  • Tanzanian Giant Tailless Whipscorpion (Damon variegatus) , not spider.

  • I did notice that it's called by several different names (as noted in the vid description) depending on who you talk to and what local common name is in use in the region... Either way, it's a cool critter :-) THanks for stopping by!

  • @JCMDIweirdStuff

Yeah either way, very cool. First time I saw these was on some older TV program where they have people come in and do crazy things. Somebody ate 8 of these, live.....

  • @philonetic yeah how can people mistake this to be a spider??

  • this spider was made when a spider and scorpion mixed Xd

  • this spider was made when a spider and scorpion mixed ....Xd

  • It does look much like a strange hybrid! =) Thanks for checking it out!

  • I heard these spiders were very tame.

  • They sure seem to be... they say they make good pets for people who are into bugs and such =)

  • @JCMDIweirdStuff until they decide to chop off your finger with their giant claw things

  • Avada Kedavra it!!!!

  • interesting how ''big'' humans are scared of creatures 1000 and more times smaller than them :Ptalking of harmless ones that is

  • These definitely do look a scary, but like you say it's only by appearance. Funny how people are almost always creeped-out for some reason - maybe we're just so used to most things like this biting or stinging us...

  • that spider was eat Bear Grylls :)

  • haha bear grylls ate one of those xD

  • Well... We have the spider, now we just need Alastor Moody....

  • AVADA KEDAVRA.

  • Crucio that bitch!

  • You sir..have the biggest balls in the world ..

  • Holy shit, they're real?!

  • I was surprised to see this real bug at the insect show too - I thought the one in Harry Potter was just a ficticious animation! XD

  • @JCMDIweirdStuff on x factor you had to eat THESE UGGHGHGHGHNG *pukes Up Spaghettios* lol

  • i'll feed these to my scorpion

  • I'll have to rate it down for the description.

  • I love that one awkwardly long leg.

  • Aww, poor thing's 1st right leg is damaged.

  • I hear that they grow them back :-)

  • i saw these things being eaten on fear factor many years ago. But now i feel bad, minus those long arm lookin things with claws on the end, they seem scary.

  • They do indeed look scary... probably why they chose to use them on that show XD Thanks for stopping by! =)

  • @mikemyerz666 u mean this? /watch?v=WdB-WnWtDvo

  • Ah, the tailless whip spider. Fascinating creatures really.

  • I thought so =) Thanks for checking it out!

  • Um hate to ask for this but... Thumbs up if you checked the floor by your feet when you watched this.

  • @DoctorSargeMD Every 5 paranoid-filled seconds. D:

  • If that thing touched me, I would punch it in the face.

  • @slt223 your comment made my day lol

  • @slt223 Then Where's The Face? XDD

  • EEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

  • They ate them alive on Fear Factor. I couldn't do that for all the money in the world.

  • Yea, I think I would rather have them for pets instead of snacks any time! XD Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • A friend of mine lives in South Africa, and they are common there.

  • It would be interating to find these things running around one's backyard on a regular basis! =)

  • i would kill myself is that thing was ever on my arm

  • They sure do look creepy and dangerous - it was a good choice to use for a deadly creature in Harry Potter. Fortunately they're pretty friendly and hamrless. =)

  • @JCMDIweirdStuff really? that makes me wanna have a pet one if its harmless... i would scare the shit out of my sisterXD

  • @fle2livefree

Do us all a favour and kill yourself anyway

  • @fle2livefree Dude, these animals ''think'' you are a tree when you hold em, just dont make any sudden moves.(i wouldnt hold it to but just saying)

  • this spider is an accomplished actor, probably now has a penthouse suite in New your...or is it not the actual one for HP??

  • I'm sure this isn't the same critter used in the movie - but it could be a cousin or something... you never know! :-)

  • i love these. finally bought one not too long ago. people walk in my room... what the heck is that?! ... didn't i tell you i went to Hogwarts?

  • Hahahaa I bet that really freaks-out people who didn't know these were real critters in nature! XD

  • @entozrs12 ROFL! *high five*

  • Good tune.

  • Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed my music as well :-)

  • Wow, are they originally from Africa? Well I live in the north of Mexico and I found one of this guys at my boyfriend's house, I didn't even know they exist, and that they're harmless, and his mom said that many years ago, there were many of them in their house. I wanted to take it home, they're amazing creatures, but it wasn't a good place for this creature, so his mom killed it u_u

  • WOW! D:

  • Thanks for stopping by! :-)

  • hey isnt this a whip tail scorpion??

    regardless its creepy!!!!

  • Apparently they have a number of names (listed in the vid details)... Creepy indeed, but apparently quite docile and harmless to people :-)

  • wow, i remembered seeing those, i bought one of them for 15$..... i named it Tamland..

  • This was the first time I had seen one in person, and didn't know anything about them except what I saw in the movie! XD Definitely cool bugs :-)

  • does it bit or does it not have the fangs that other spiders have?

  • Apparently they aren't built like true spiders, and are probably more closely related to scorpions, although they don't appear to have any sting. There is some more info vid description and a link there for lots more :-)

  • freakin awesome

  • Thanks for watching - glad you enjoyed! =)

  • I was told you can keep them at room temp, but I don't trust that anymore. The temperature of a room can change from 73 down to the 50's or 40's. I read on a care sheet that 68- 80 percent is the range one should look for in keeping them. There may be some luck with breeding. Even though they are sometimes called cave spiders, they should be kept on cork bark slabs with soft substrate, not on rock. Rock can damage their legs and claws. These animals are seldom available at pets stores.

  • Yeah, I need to get some more of them. I miss them. They are nearly as cool as tarantulas, but not as good looking. Suprisingly docile. I want to put a planted cage of them in my living room.

  • I wondered how easy it would be to breed them, so you don't have to keep running to the pet supplier to re-stock when your older ones die-off...

  • I thought I'd add that these can also be found in Central America, namely Costa Rica, which is where I saw one a few days ago being schlepped up a wall and devoured by a scorpion.

  • Someone else had also mentioned a smaller South American member of this group of critters too. Interesting to hear that they are eaten by Scorpions! It's a bug-eat-bug world out there (glad I'm not a bug!) :-) Cheers!

  • I'm guessing it's not easy to pick up girls at an "insect fair"

  • Actually, there were quite a few women from all across the age spectrum, and surprisingly, many were into bugs as much as the guys. Ratio-wise, though, there are far more guys into this sort of thing than girls :-)

  • @jcmegabyte That looks like a very nice camcorder! Apparently my Canon HV20 is a bit older - it uses tape. Not sure about its macro capability. I haven't recorded anything with it in over a year. I'm using a Panasonic DMC-GH1 for all my video these days.

Not sure why quoting your answer wouldn't work.

  • Quite a strange looking critter! Thanks for sharing. I'm curious about what camera & lens you used for this and the giant millipede at the same show.

  • It is indeed an odd critter! All of my LANHM live HD video footage (2009 and 2010) was filmed with a Canon HF100, HD camcorder. The macro is quite good - it can focus down to an inch or so from the lens, which results in some remarkably detailed images at HD resolution. :-)

  • That's pretty cool... I appreciate all of nature, so I have nothing bad to say about any animal or bug of any kind. I just make sure I know about things before I go messing with them. I want one for a pet, lol

  • Dude that is a cool arachnid. It has 8 legs doesn't it? Six? Can't tell, lol. I actually have only ever seen the first Harry Potter, so I didn't see this bug. Those things at the top of its head... are those it's... eyes? Awesome. I love spiders, so this is pretty neat.

  • Indeed they do have 8 legs, but it appears that only the rear 3 pair are used for walking, while the front pair is highly adapted as extra-long feelers. Then in the very front, there are those pincher-like claws, like a scorpion or crab. Interesting critter - looks like a cross between a number of other creatures! Check out the link in the vid description... =)

  • these things are the grossest things ever, and now its totally turned me off from ever entering any caves......interesting looking, but as an arachnophobe, gross...

  • Most caves are kind of damp, dark and creepy anyways, let alone all the weird crawly (and flying) things that live in them. Probably best (and certainly safest) to stay outside and watch the exploration on video! :-)

  • Beautiful creature!

  • Thanks so much for the view and comment! :-)

  • cool one

    new and different

    unusual and weird

  • After seeing it in Harry Potter for the first time ever, I thought it was pretty cool to find one at the bug show in real life, and find out that these are real critters rather than just a CG animation! Thanks for the view and nice comment :-)

  • Very cool! I collected much smaller versions (~3 cm length) of these in Nicaragua.

  • Sounds cool - I didn't know this type of critter was so widespread. :-)

  • @jcmegabyte Amblypygids are world-wide in the tropics and subtropics. The neotropical species we were getting were Phrynus cf. pseudoparvulus, in a related but different family than yours.

  • I don't like the looks of that thing. Spiders freak me out.

  • Definitely not an ideal pet if multi-long-legged critters give you the creeps. Even so, while It sure does look creepy and dangerous, they're said to be quite calm and friendly... as bugs go, anyway. =)

  • wow what a strange looking fella

  • They're kind of like a cross between a daddy-longlegs spider and a flattened-out scorpion! Thanks for watching :-)

  • @jcmegabyte omg lol ur right

  • Yep...creepy and weird spider...but I had to watch it a few times...:-)

  • I seemed like such a calm and docile little bug... I almost wish it had moved around some more, which would have really given it some extra creep-appeal! XD

  • I love you :)

  • awweeeesooome i love spiders

  • This is definitely a cool one - thanks for watching and commenting! =)

  • @jcmegabyte lol yeh dude ur vids rule

  • Awesome! One creepy looking spider there!

  • They're said to be friendly and make good pets, too! Who woulda thought? XD

  • @jcmegabyte haha! I'll stick to cats!

  • Même inoffensif, c'est impressionnant ces pattes immenses

  • Yes they sure do look scary! Thanks for watching and commenting :-)

  • could it kill u?

  • @supradude2jzgte read the description.

  • @stefanomotors36 should of but someone already told me 7 hours ago...

  • Not at all - they're quite harmless to humans. =)

  • ese animal me da mucho miedoooooooooooooo

  • They may look scary, but they're quite harmless. :-)

  • that is sooo creepy, awesome

  • This is definitely one of the strangest-looking live bugs I've seen at the show so far, and definitely one of the coolest, too! Thanks for checking it out! :-)

  • Very, Very cool!!

  • Thanks for checking it out! :-)
