@T16Akatsuki mogwai do not run on any time zone, their time is dependant on the sun. the midnight rule is just much easier to use than the actual formula required to determine the actual time (which is much closer to 1am). you can start feeding them again once the sun rises, because the sun weakens the mogwai it does not allow their metamorphosis to occur.

@Mastersonic90 That was the beauty of the design of the film. It was a warm and fuzzy appearance, but quickly descended into a nightmarish tone, mixed in with comedy. It really is a unique film and genre of it's own. Joe Dante---the film's director---also directed "The Howling", so naturally it had some of the same feel to it as that film.

I literally just watched this movie for the first time. One of the best movies ever made. I love how it goes from a cute holiday movie to a monster movie in like a minute. And the funny thing is that it was marketed as a Christmas movie, but not a monster movie. So parents took their six year olds to see it. Not quite what they were expecting, I'm guessing
