Newsnet UK have the licence to copy some of the TVS Pre-recorded VT sold throughout the 80/90's. So the Archive is spread to the four corners of the earth. The Archive is still in the UK i've been told. I expect Disney arnt to bothered about it just want the MTM stuff as its resaleable and part of the TVS Archive.
Yes disney own the rights to the Archive of TVS ENTERTAINMENT PLC But they dont have it all. IFE (Family Channel) to SABAN (Power Rangers) then to Disney. Each company retained bits and canal+ A (French Broadcaster) TVS shareholder also had bits so did Flextech who purchased the Maidstone studio's. Fairways house in southampton which held 1/3 of the VT archive was sold and some VT destoryed and rescued.
The really sad thing is they wouldn't have bankrupted themselves - ITV companies renegotiated the amount they pay for the franchises not long after the new franchises had started...
I once had this on video, that included the last SE TVS bits (Coast to Coast and handover etc) - It got nicked :( I do have a (good) sound recording of this promo though! I lived in the London Area 'til '87 so probably got the best years of TVS - of course they would have bankrupted themselves even if they had re-won the franchise - ITV is now a cash cow - not interested in "programmes"
Spot Fred and Fern towards the end... is that the only reason this version (3-A) is marked "South only", or are there any other bits featured that weren't known to South East TVS viewers?
Any chance of a better quality recording of this, or is it from a website?
I saw an alternative version many years ago that was shown in the South-East part of the region that I'm sure was identical to this apart from Fern & Fred being replaced by Mike Debens and Liz Wickham, the Coast to Coast presenters from Maidstone. It would be good to see that one again too ;-)
Good old TVS! They made some classic network contributions and were first class in local presentation and news... slick, modern and reflecting the affluence of the South in the Eighties
I remember this promo ! Would love to be able to hear the audio, is this possible somehow ?
