  • nice vid

  • Definitely my weakest shot, too many times I clear from the back, but only into the smash zone, I can't seem to generate the power so my technique must be way off. I think though tis down to my moverment and placement on court so am rarely in the right position to start. Are there any vids about tips for placement and movement on court in doubles?

  • The female's clear is actually a lot better, she generates much more power from her wrist. Nathan Robertson (the dude) has less wrist power, and a big armswing.

  • i thought this was a vid on how to backhand slap a person.........oops wrong vid

  • i can backhand but not as good as this. I dont know when should I backhand? Its hard

  • thanks dudue

  • nice...but showing the angles and the hieght at wich u shuld hit etc... tbh thatz jus pointless...no one will be able to look for those thingss

  • Thanks for this video

  • thnks for the upload...

  • hmm sorry. wad does it means by whipping ur wrist?

  • Comment removed

  • use power in your wrist = flick

  • thanks for posting, it helps a lot!!!!!

  • Lol. Last class, I was trainign my backhand clear. My teacher said: want a tip?

    I answer yes.

He said: you whip your wrist to osoon and throug hyour motion, whip it later. Do it slower if you can't do it full speed.

As I stepped my foot in the back choir, just move my racket very slowly, but whipped later. OMG it traveleld the whole shit and very high.

LOL, my best clear was made in slow-mo. Thsi confirms: no power, only motion.

  • yup...that's the trick. and once you learned how to master it, you could do a lot of crazy stuff with it. backhand smash if your risk is really strong like the pros. haha

  • Need to get on to that...thanks!

  • she has a better clear than he does. Just hear the sound; you here a whip crackign when she sens it from lien to line, while you hear a creapy bing when he does it. The sound on impact never lies and you can see easily her's go further and quicker.

  • Didn'T thought about that at first. This difference in sound might influence my eye judgement too. Thanks for the info.

  • happy to help ! ;D

  • thnx now i'm pro at backhand ! thnx !

  • = O dat's the court were i played in my year 9's badminton tournament.....aww.......wish them 2 were there...^_^ would have been so much better.....

  • one of my weakest point...backhand shot...i better do forehand to have a control...

  • =O I have Badminton Tryouts tomorrow and im trying to learn to do a backhand smash... lol i just cant get it right.. but good video

  • great explanations

  • good video, i love it

  • good advice for back hand shots!

  • I always use overhead shot, but this one is very usefull when your in big trouble. This shot still the hardest for me!

  • Yeah he's using the thumb grip. Position your hand higher or lower on the handle if you are looking for power or a nice quick shot :)

  • i really wanted to learn this......thanks....;)

  • good posting but there's another important part that the video doesn't even mention- the grip! hammer grip or thumb on the side vs. basic grip. Unfortunately it is not visible in the show so it would need some verbal explanation or demonstration.

  • Eh I don't really think this is important. You use the backhand grip which you are more comfortable in,which the fingers are closed and the thumb needed to strengthen the racket. This is the basics...

  • it is easy back hand

    but

back hand smash its very hard

    good video

  • can some one give me a tip on doing this ifind it really hard :(

  • wow mang,

    great video ,

    sooo procise!

  • if u play doubles u should never have to use a backhand... single players if anything u need to work on ur back hand at least 30 min of every practise u do...

  • i use backhand quite a bit in doubles i mean why not? for me to not use back hand requires about 2 more steps which by then would be too late to take the shot

  • its front and back or side and side it should require only 2 steps to get from any side of the court to the other with proper footwork... my nationals coach,,, all he did was teach my footwork... u have more opportunities with a forehand... yes use the back if u have to but try to avoid it.

  • i bboy and it's all about using my wrist. try putting your body weight onto your wrist for atleast 20 seconds. it's strong if you could hold it for that long

  • i can backhand but its not powerful enough xO

  • look...

i need help on using my backhand...

i mean when people smash me hard how can i return back the shuttle using back hand to the base line ???

  • overhead is a better suggestion n if its low just hit it barely over the next thats how i hide my weak backhand.

  • love3ever, the secret is u must streghten your wrist.badminton needs strong wrist. take a squash racket and swing backhand without shuttlecock. do this for a few times. Always practice this

  • why my backhand cannot reach to base line ??

i always use backhand also very high above the net then people smash me...

    sad

  • same for me, fellow ^^

the backhand is my biggest weakness. i dominate a lot of my enemies until they discover that my backhand is really bad and start using that against me.

  • engros i do same as you.

and i also play for isle of wight.

  • hmm interesting backhand clear. What i just do is make a backhand slice to make the clear a lot faster and make the shuttle cock drop a lot faster.

  • Thanks for the upload! It is worth noting that whilst its not an agressive, point winning shot, it is still worth having it at your disposal. The more shots you have the more options you have and a backhand smash is no good if you do it every time its lifted to that side (predictable) so a clear is invaluable.

    Thanks again for uploading :)

  • dats a very high jump at 00:13

  • All good advice, but DONT shasset(sp?). Run on the court, its much quicker.

  • you want to shuffle around the court and use proper footwork because if you just run around the court aimlessy then your like a chicken with its head cut off you dont ave proper foot work. there are situations where running is better like from back to front in a straight motion but rarly you do need proper footowork.

  • Learning Learning, It's not difficuld

    i'm sitting also on tennis!

The important thing off all also!

Is footwork! And repeat and repeat!

    Bye ! =]

  • that shouldnt be the case though a forehand smash should be faster than a backhand. a backhand smash your not able to use your body to the same effect as you are when you do a forehand smash and that allows you to hit a harder forehand smash.

  • i can do the backhand, i havent need to train it! i smash always when i do the backhand ;P

that trick is just very simple

  • dude at least analysis how you done it. Your comemnt seems kind of not important to overall video. Maybe you shoudl tell us about your body size so we can noe more why you can back hand clear due to the fact that back hadn clear of the factor may vary

  • I MADE IT TO THE TEAM!!!thanks a lot guys!!!(really I mean it!)except that all my enemies didn't make it!!!I'm so happy!!!

  • I MADE IT TO THE TEAM!!!thanks a lot guys!!!(really I mean it!)except that all my enemies didn't make it!!!I'm so happy!!!

  • my weaknesses is backhand!!!..

  • you frickin ROCK this is the best when i was trying out my best friend was having trouble with this exact shot, i told him to watch this vid (cause it helped me in the past :P) and he made the team it was the first time he ever made the team out of his 4 yrs trying thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!

  • haha no problem, im glad that it could be of use to you and your friend as well, thats awsome he made the team. well best of luck to both of you and keep playing hard.

  • thanks!

  • thanks 4 uploading this video! Now I think I'll make it to the school Badminton team!

  • no problem, best of luck to you when trying out for the team just rememebr theres more to learn than just playing backhand shots.

  • 1 advice dun smash at the back!good luck!:D

  • ok thanks 4 the advice!

  • ok thanks 4 the advice!

  • u get a higher risk when u smash at the back cuz if smash at the back of the right(e.g.) the opponent can drop front left(e.g.)its genereal knowledge but still ppl make that mistake too~~!!!!goood luck!!!:XD

  • dude that is wat you think. And beside, if you smash is droped by your oppenent, then it means your smash is really weak. The best way is to smash, slice infront net when oppenet drops, and keeps on smashing. That is the way I played. And made regional. In addition, it is also the style played by international player Taufik Hidiyate and Lin Dan

  • lolx so isnt it like wad i said dont smash at the back o cmon get ur facts right

  • I dont get what you are trying to say. Plz restate your comments

  • This advice is correct for singles. Not so for doubles, where your vulnerable point should be covered by your partner.

  • Very good ... can i download youtube video's ?how?

  • you can go on google and type in save youtube videos and there are some sites all you ahev to do is enter the address of the video and you can save it in flash format and then can view it that way.

  • kellog's back hand is strong..but looks kinda funny.Hehe..

  • dun think backhad is like this ur wrist technique is wrong btu anyway its not ez to perform a perfect backhand especially in front of the camera

  • considering there international players doing the demo in this video its valid. that is the basics of backhand and how it should be preformed from coach to coahc and country to country things will be added or taken away though but yeah.

  • it is the right foot-work! about the wrist technique i dunno but it is effective. =)

  • everyone has difernt foot work.. and write technique, depends which ur used to

  • U are right

  • cool.. thanx smashmaster!

  • no problem glad you liked it

  • i'm suprised at how so many ppl responded to my question earlier :)

thx for all your suggestions! ~ i think i'm just using too much wrist in my backhand clear.

  • Can we see more of this videos? (specialy with this method of learning)

  • i can try and get soe more of this type but yeah might be hard to find some but ill do my best to get some more.

  • arigato!!

  • yea i agree with mejigalbo, anytime when i try to back hand clear.. my wrist hurts x[

  • i have a feeling your trying to use a lil to much wrist when backhanding then, same as mejigalbo.

  • this shot is a arm+wrist very precise shot so keep on trying!

  • my wrist hurts when i do a back hand clear.

    what am i doing wrong?

  • maybe you dont have the arm follow through correct and you try to use more of your wrist for the power in clearing the bird

  • i have a feeling your trying to use pure wrist when doing abackhand then which is wrong technique. you want to use your arm and wrist to an extent.

  • you might be using not enough arm,or you're gripping the racquet too tightly. A loose grip is important in any shot, ESPECIALLY this one.

  • probably you are holding the racquet wrong, or you are trying to hit too hard. Start slow, so your wrist can get stronger.

  • i like how the lady talks XD its like how the attendants talk when you board an airplane. ANYWAYS.. cool video.. siked me up to play

  • sweet...!

  • thx for the upload!!!

  • lol np
