  • you are so good!!!

  • @dubbhe27 Thanks!!! --Emma

  • I've been playing the flute for 2 years, I don't take private lessons though I play at my school. You are like the best flutist I have heard in my life!

  • Do you have a B flat foot joint on your flute? From the watching many of your videos it appears that you do, plus it looks a lot longer than my foot joint which is just a normal one that lets you go down to C. Thanks

  • @Japangirl1997 Hi, Yah I have a b foot. I think alot of people have them now but it does make the flute longer. Have fun playing your flute!!! --Emma

  • @GeoRockMin Yeah I wish I had one but my flute is really old, It used to be my mothers from when she was in high school so it was a rather long time ago

  • Noooo!!! Marry me! :D

  • @IHUGANASIAN :) :) !!! --Emma

  • Marry me.

  • @exe163 Awwww!!! My first proposal!!! --Emma

  • You are soooo amazing. xD I'm guessing perfect pitch comes naturally?

  • @iMeloxx Hi, Thanks for watching!!! I don't know how I got perfect pitch but I kind of think of it like learning letters and colors or anything. If that makes sense?? --Emma

  • Increible sinceramente, ¡Eres muy buena!

    ¿Cuántos años tienes? Alucinante! :)

  • @snoopii03 Hi, Thank you!!! I was 8 in this video but I'm 11 now.

    --Emma

  • Do you have perfect pitch? i'm just wondering how you got into flute so young

  • @casmimi Hi, Thanks for watching!!! Yah, I can name any note or chord that someone plays. It's kind of a fun trick that makes people laugh!!! I started playing the flute when I was 3 because I thought it was the most beautiful sound in the world. I still do!!! --Emma

  • @GeoRockMin that's so awesome

i guess you're basically never out of tune then :P

    --Emma

  • ur my new role model!!!!

  • WOW!!! I can't stop watching your videos!!! :) Thank you for posting.

  • how do u lay the highest note i forgot lol

  • Amazing! I have been playing for 3 years, (I just turned 15) and the highest note I can hit is A6, and the hardest song I have learned is Canon in D, unfortunately I'm not too good at vibrato yet :/ But you're my inspiration to get better and keep practicing and someday maybe reach my goal of preforming professionally one day (: Thanks. Any tips to help my vibrato? My band teacher told me I tongue too hard as well. How would I fix that?

  • @horsegrl12 Hi, Thanks for watching!!! It's great you play the flute!!! I guess I'd say the same thing about vibrato and tonguing. Make sure you mostly hear the tone of the note, not the articulation or the vibrato. Your air makes the beautiful flute sound, not your tongue, not the vibrato. Think of articulations and vibrato as decorations on a cake, but the cake (the tone) is the most imposrtant part. Hope that helps!!! Let me know how it goes!!! --Emma

  • 凄すぎる♪末恐ろしき才能ですね。

  • Congrulations! I'm brazilian, and i loved you play! What the model of flute do you play?

  • @thomasbrummg Thanks!!! I have a Powell Conservatory flute. I love it!!!

  • Thank you so much Emma! It makes me feel wonderful that you take the time to respond to my questions! And that is great advice, I'll be sure to try that and keep practicing, I hope someday to be able to play as smooth as you do, I'll follow your advice!

  • this is one one of my favorite vidios of yours! Its as if the song can't decide weather to be bad or happy and takes on another wavelength completely! I love it, it carries me along, i just started flute but you are like my idol and who I aspire to be like in the future! ps. Can you give any tips on smoothness? cus yours is amazing!

  • @hamster0flute Thanks!!! I sing and whistle my pieces alot and I think that really helps with smoothness. It's kind of thinking more about the sound and the story rather than the notes. Hope that helps!!!

    --Emma

  • Is that the: 1st and 3rd finger on the left hand and then, the 1st finger and pinkie on the right hand --Jason

  • What's the highest note that you can hit?

    --Jason

  • @SuperPike8 Hi Jason, F4 is the highest note I practice. --Emma

  • what kind of flute do u have?

  • @ORANGESNOWFLAKE84 Hi, Thanks for watching!!! I have a Powell Conservatory flute. I love it!!!

    --Emma

  • @GeoRockMin

It´s really great to play a Powell Flute. I´ve got a Powell Signature Flute and i really love it! <3

Thank you for your videos. You are an amazing flute player.

  • I played this for Christmas! It's really fun but i didn't memorize it! I also played over the rainbow and my grandmas cried because they though it was so beautiful. I was honered. Please reply back. I also think you can play this much better than me!

  • @mrsfluteluver Hi, Thanks for watching!!! If your Grandma cried you seriously played it great!!!

    --Emma

  • You are so good. I'm so jealous.

  • i person is jealous of her amazing talent! emma i think your amazing at the flute!

  • She's soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. I wish I could play like that!

  • Holy crap! And I mean that in a good way! You've got some skills! I love your playing and how not only you are good but you also look like you are enjoying the music! Some people are talented, but lack that 'enjoyment' aspect. You are truly gifted :]

  • pretty :)

  • I remember this song, where is it from?

  • @R4bot12 Hi, It's just a little piece by Ravel. I think lots of instruments play it. Don't know if it was in a movie or something. --Emma

  • Hi Emma how long have you been playing? you are really good for your age! can you give me some tips on how to move my fingers faster?

    Kiana

  • @mr1beyoncefan Hi Kiana, What I do is start at a slower tempo and move the metronome up one or 2 clicks every day. Before I know it I'm playing faster and even too!!! Let me know how it goes!!!

    --Emma

  • @GeoRockMin Okay, definitely i will try that. I'm also taking flute lessons. Thank for the tips and i will let you know how i am doing with that!

    Kiana

  • Hello Emma:

Your vibrato is amazing! I have been playing the flute for 9 years and I don't think that my vibrato is as god as yours. Would you give me any tips to improve my vibrato?

    Jose

  • @cabci Hi Jose, Thanks for watching!!! For vibrato try metronome work. Set it to 80 then do 2 vibrato pulses to a beat on a scale. Then 3 to a beat, then 4. Then every day make the metronome I click faster. In a few weeks your vibrato will be better!!! Let me know how it goes!!!

    --Emma

  • how can i learn to play the notes faster? Im very slow and i dont know how to move my fingers over the keys faster. Im trying to teach myself i have a book and my teacher said i need to catch up with the other band memebers.

  • @palmapanfu Hi Palma, Try to keep your fingers really close to the keys. Don't lift them way up when you change notes. Also make sure you practice scales and arpeggios alot, not just your pieces. And maybe your teacher can give you some suggestions too. Let me know how it goes!!!

    --Emma

  • I'm outstanded. truly amazing. Who is your teacher? I've been playing for about 5 years and working on the stamitz concerto in g. brava and I wish you great success!

  • @jaysed96 Hi, Thanks!!! It's great you play the flute too!!!

    --Emma

  • Wow, you're really good, little girl ! :)

  • emma!! your amazing at flute!!! :) dou you know how i can maybe play a little quiter on my high notes?? i always end up blasting them out...- thanks!!

  • @quinnbeeloved Hi, Thanks for watching!!! Yah, high notes are tricky and take alot of practice all by themself. You can trying practicing high note scales really slowly and softly. Figure out the smallest amount of air you can use and still get a sound. For me high notes are really about finding the exact right spot my headjoint, they really don't need more air. Let me know how it goes!!!

    --Emma

  • So beautiful. Do you have any tips on having a better tone?

  • @mickeylotz13 Hi, Thanks for watching!!! I do the descending chromatic tone exercise that alot of people recommend. Also, for me, I really think about my air alot, and not my fingers and tongue. Hope that helps!!! Let me know how it goes!!!

    --Emma

  • hi emma! you are so good at the flute. :) how long have you been playing?

    --Emma

  • wow! how on earth did u get this good?! ive been playing the flute for three years and your amazing!! : )

  • You know, check out Gabriels Oboe. I know its a stunning solo for oboe but I have seen it played in Youtube for/by flute. It is absolutely beautiful even for trumpet. There is even a duet with oboe and flute. No matter what plays it, its humbling to hear and play..

    --Emma

  • i played the flute for 2 years now and i wish i was as good as you . My Flute teacher says that i hav an exam soon so if you've got any advice i would love to hear it . thanks

    Kate

  • Thanks for watching!!! I think the most important thing is to tell a story with the music and have fun telling the story. Don't let your music exam be like a math exam. Show everyone why you love to play the flute!!! Let me know how it goes.

    --Emma

  • @GeoRockMin yeah i agree thank you :) i will definatly let you know how it goes thanks .

    Kate xo

  • This is really beautiful, Emma! How long have you been playing now? I've been playing for about nine years, so I suppose that would make me about 8 when I started playing. I wish I had started as young as you!

  • I just posted your Chaminade video to my Facebook page.

I have been playing flute since I was 11--I'm 27 now, and I didn't play Chaminade until I was 24.

You are an inspiration to us all, Emma. Keep playing, and I want you to someday sign my practice journal right next to Sir James Galway.

What an inspiring performance here! Wow. Very mature performance from such a young artist. Congratulations!

  • Thanks!!! I have so much fun playing the flute!!! It's the most magical instrument in the world!!!

    --Emma

  • I really wish i was going to the NFA convention this year to see you Emma! You're incredible! You motivate me to practice more each day. Which is good because I am going into music education this fall at college :)

  • You're very good-- I play the flute as well-- Just finished with this piece. And I really like it.

    Thanks for sharing

You should check out Dominique and Valerie Kim.

They are a bit older than you, but the video of them playing this piece is a little old, so Dominique (flute) is about 11 i think

  • have you ever been playing the piece Tambourin by Gossec? You´re absolutly wonderful!

  • I haven't played that piece, but I'll check it out. Thanks :) -- Emma

  • Do you learn everything with or without notes? I´m just more and more impressed. What about sicilienne by gabriel faure?

  • Yes, I use the music, and I try to learn the piano part too. I love Faure's music!!! Especially the Fantasie and the Pavanne!!!!

  • Wow, I still can`t believe that you´re so young! I started to playing when I was around 11 and never been very interested, no it´s just so cool! You realy inspire me :)

  • I used to play flute when I was in 5th grade, I am now in 9th, and I am starting to play again. I loved it! Your peices have just inspired me even more to pick my flute up again!

  • I'm so happy you're playing the flute again!!!! It's the most magical instrument!!! Let me know if you post any videos. --Emma

  • I definately will. It will be a while before I post anything at all though. I will have to do a lot of practice before even thinking about adding to youtube. I agree flute is the most magical instrument!

  • what i'd love, is for you to get discovered on a massive scale, but when you are at least 16. I'm sure your parents will agree also. Anddddd umumum i was wondering what made you first want to pick up the flute? because i can't remember. I think it's something to do with how faries were always seen with flutes or something/ hmm. MArvelous aswell this is indeed it is :) Xx

  • I liked how shiny the flute looked, and the sound is so magical!!! I'm glad you love the flute too!!! We'e both lucky to be musicians!!!!!!!! --Emma

  • I agree with that! I love the opportunities and resources for music/musicians nowerdays, and I love how music is such a major part of our societies. I think it's amazing how we can look at the dots on the page and see something so different to a non music player, and I agree, I think it's fantabidosar that our human brains can co-operate enough to play music. Becaus eit's ace. brill. Mega super. Best thing there is. :) Xx

  • love youㅠㅠ

I hearld almost everything about yours today!!!!!!!!! I hope I can play like you!!

  • Wonderful job! I just happened upon you while I was looking for a recording of a piece. I am currently a flute performance masters student, and am amazed at your talent!! I hope I get to hear you at the convention! Keep up the great work :)

  • Hi, Thanks so much!! Please say Hi at the convention. I hope to meet lots of my YouTube friends!!!!

  • Powells are the best! I figured that was what it was! I have been playing on mine for about 16 years now.... Keep up the hard work.... I'll be looking for you at the NFA... Hopefully i'll get to hear you play in person. Best of luck Emma!

  • I am so amazed Emma.... I studied the Carmen for a semester before playing it on my Junior recital in college! What kind of flute do you play on? Who is your teacher? What age did you start? How long do you practice each day? Am I correct in assuming that you are home schooled? Very very nice playing... you will have a recording lable in no time!

  • Hi, Thanks for listening!! Yes, I am homeschooled, play on a Powell flute, and practice about two hours a day. The flute rocks!!!

  • What I cannot believe is the amount of improvement from just age 7 to age 8!!

  • I have front teeth again. That really helped my playing!!

  • how do u memories all of this?!

    absolutely fascinating!

  • Hi, I'm not sure. I just love the flute!! Thanks for listening and commenting!!

  • This is such a beautiful piece and you played it so well! :)

You should look at Peter and the Wolf, it has a great flute solo!

Keep the videos coming, I love them!

  • Amazing once again! It cracks me up... I hear her playing something then I'm motivated to go learn it and I find myself listening to an 8 year old for interpretation ideas. Scary :-)

  • you are fantastic as always!
