  • does the pilot has now Parkinson?

  • Emergency checklist:

    Engine: Cutoff

    Fuel Supply: Off

    Electrical Master Switch: Off

    Emergency checklist: Complete

    RUN LIKE HELL

  • WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO YOUTUBE? LOW QUALITY, NO FULL SCREEN?????

    somebody tell me something!

  • @leeroa1 Um, I think its your computer :P I have both fullscreen and standard quality :/

  • @leeroa1 upadate or reinstall flash player. Hope that helps you

  • this is a british airtours company yes? well on 3:28 where it shows the booklet at the top it says british airways!

  • @natalieheppnstall British Airtours was part of British Airways.

  • @natalieheppnstall it's subsidiary of British Airways

  • MY FRIEND IS IN THIS EPISODEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!! HE'S THE BOY IN THE YELLOW T-SHIRT!!!!!!!!!! XD

  • anti spoiler vote up

  • With the report of the fire, the captain should have stopped the airplane right away on the runway and evacuate passengers immediately. Unfortunately, he taxied around the airplane trying to find a parking spot.

  • @fruitfast777

he had to get somewhere that was safe and away from the runway... how can you not figure that out?

  • we heard a dog fart? (04:45)

  • The captain looked and sounded like a broken man :(

  • WTF mate, did it occur to anyone about the large number of air crash fatalities the year of 1985?? It just now occurred to me when I saw this.

  • those checklists are dummy!!!!! evacuate means leave the location immediately, not doing soo many pages of checklist. but hats off to the crews specially the quick decision of the pilot and the heroic action of the female stewardess for saving the girl.

  • @britoin Well u need to do the checklist so it wont go worst like if u dont do the check list as soon as u get out of the plane the plane could go KAABOOM n more ppl or rescue creww would die

  • @britoin

what's it like being an idiot? no, don't answer... i'm not that interested!

  • Why was the right overwing exit not used? Why were the flight attendants not using walkaround oxygen bottles to look through the smoke for passengers at the rear?

  • @jhwenger right overwing exit was used - opened by a passenger and many people got out that way.

Portable oxegen wouldn't have helped - the cabin was pich black and the crew would have been blinded. The crew at the back were among the first who didn't survive.

    Any other questions?

  • Wow, those safety improvements really made a difference. Anyone remember China Airlines 120? Just 2 days before the 22 year anniversary of the Manchester crash, it's engine caught fire after landing in Japan, and quicly spread to the cabin. The events are actually so similar its scary. That plane was even a 737, but a newer one.

The only 2 differences: the China Airlines plane's right engine caught fire instead of left, and EVERYBODY survived.

  • It seems that August 1985 was a bad MONTH for flying, because in addition to this, we had the Delta 191 crash at DFW, plus the worst single-plane disaster with JAL 123, in which over 500 people died.

And you know what else is scary? I was born in August of 1985.

  • @Tubewings If you believe in reincarnation, do you believe that you are a reincarnation of one one of those who died?

  • @Tubewings

you need to change your birthday ;)

  • @Tubewings Yes,August of 1985 was one of the worst periods of time in aviation history.

  • @Tubewings you are a fucking disaster then haahahahah ! ;)

  • god, 1985 was a cosmically bad year for flying...

    btw,

i thought they had an in-engine fire extinguisher mounted inside it, just for these sorts of occasions. if you pull it, you won't be able to restart the engine but at least you would have put out the fire. or was that another after-thought?

  • @saveusmilkboy depends which model of 737 it was, only the later ones had fire extinguishers

  • @greendayforever2k9 thanks.

  • lol the plane is on fire screw a checklist I'm gone lol

  • I like how the flight crew member is really putting his shoulder into that plug door, as though he can get it to open that way.

  • How stupid can one be , pilots starting to read 4 bloody pages instead of opening door for people to evacuate ! Stupid , stupid stupid , welldone to the flight attendance for her guts !!

  • @tavvenbizzy07 Sounds stupid (whilst 4 pages is excesive and probably reduced and learnt from this accident) there could be a logical reason for this and that being making the outside environment safe for the passengers to get off and out.

You also had the fact the aircrafts costed a lot and therefore the airliners priority is not just the passengers but the aircraft also

  • @tavvenbizzy07

you idiot. the checklists are there for a reason: safety. the checklists are there to ensure that the aeroplane is made as safe as possible for an evacuation to be made. the flight attendant was foolhardy and bloody lucky. she put two lives at risk rather than one.

i'm amazed how many people are as stupid as that: to not think clearly before proceeding with some action. sometimes, they're lucky, but more often they're not.

    grown an IQ.

  • @psychobollox

    grow*

  • @psychobollox , you have just proven how moronic you are ! Is that all you can say ?? Shame this world is packed with dumb fools like you muppet ! Start thinking out of the box and maybe your low life can improve and your mental sickness might also improve ...

  • 02:30 wtf lets go..

  • I wish that this accident made a big impact in air safety. I hope you all could learn from this accident.

  • Is it just me or are the flaps on that aircraft wrongly configured (Left retracted) rather a stupid mistake even if it is a dramatization. As for firefighters they have very specific rules in weather they're allowed to enter a building or aircraft, they have to follow regulations like anyone, in fact more than most people. More times than not it saves lives. 1TmanTM also has a good point, it's rather difficult to get a ladder up to a plane.

  • That woman had a lot of guts... she's a true hero. Flight Attendant Joanna Caston and Purser Arthur Bradbury saved many, many lives that day! Hats off to them!

  • Woo someone with a Mancunian accent on tele :D

  • The Flight 28M is dramatised in the episode "Manchester Runway Disaster" of the Canadian television documentary series Mayday (Air Crash Investigations, Air Emergency). The episode shows an inaccurate sketch of the 737 escape routes from. wikipedia

  • All those investigation companies are really corrupt, if the crash happens in a plane like a boeing or a airbus they always blame pilot's, mechanics or other poeple.

  • @juventusfan8 I completely agree :) that's the way it is, American investigators never ashamed to blame airbus for an crash, but never blamed boeing, allways the pilot was the one who blame... :)

  • @juventusfan8 they're not companies - they're independant government bodies

  • The Firemen were Incompetent, they were there at the scene on time, & had all the equipment they needed, & yet none of them borded the plane to try & rescue the passengers trapped by smoke. The flight attendant showed more courage than the firemen!....The Rescue Should have been They're JOB!!!...Bottom line is these Firemen were INEPT & Incompetent!...Pussy's!

  • @01Chitoman No, youre wrong. As firefighter the first thing you learn is to not put yourself into certain danger. You have to judge on the situation, and this one got worse every second. Anyone who would have entered that burning plane would have violated that basic rule. In case of the flight attendent I can understand her, but I guess she wasn't able to judge the danger she was in properly. Glad she made it out alive.

  • @svenktown

absolutely. 01Chitoman's comment was disingenuous and stupid.

  • @01Chitoman I was thinking the same exact thing as I watched this. Granted boarding the plane would have put their lives in danger, but their job is to save people's lives. Many more lives could have been saved had they gotten on the plane to rescue people.

  • @xxblodlustxx How they post to get ON the plane? They can't really run up a chute that is covered in fire resistance foam.

  • @01Chitoman I can gaurantee you that the rapid intervention teams at the airport and later the gmfrs and cfrs when they arrived at the scene both conducted search and rescue attempts. this documentary does no adress this because the actions of the various fire services mobilised that day because they were never in quesion. to board whilst passenegers may still be self evacuaing would be the worst thing to do.. if youve ever turned out to such an incident you would know we would itching to get in

  • @01Chitoman

i hate to say this,, but you're a fucking idiot. there are many reasons why, and it is not my job to tell you what they are. it is your job to find out and put those problems right. svenktown's response to your idiotic comment was nicer than you will ever deserve. as for the flight attendant... successful as she was in getting the girl off the place, she put herself in danger, and that could have lead to her and the child dying. she was foolhardy and put two people at great risk.

  • @01Chitoman Lets see you go into a burning plane.

You fools are completely oblivious of the fact that you can't say somebody should have done this and that in a situation like this, because YOU NEVER EVEN TRAINED AS A FIREFIGHTER. How do I know? Any sane firefighter who cared about his family would not have gone in there

  • that little girl was lucky that the women went back into the passenger seats

  • the captain looks like he has parkinson disease
