  • I wanted to listen to Joan Baez singing Heinrich Heine's wonderful poem Die Lorelei and I found this unpoetical stuff

  • First time I've heard this live! Thank you for posting. Beautiful song.

  • Joan is a wise person without prejudice and I like this song. I just happened to be born in Germany after World War II. Me and many others born in the 50ies had nothing to do with what had happened. And it gets on my nerves being made responsible for the cruel things that took place during the nazi regime. I really wish that especially the English and also the Dutch would stop seeing nazis in all Germans.

  • this song is so overpowering tears fell long before the song ended. This is the best song ive ever heard her sing-the lyrics, vocal heartfelt thank you so much for posting this 5 star winner. victoria, bc canada

  • Sorry for whistling in the start, I knew that there was recorded a LP this evening, I was just 19, a little dizzy from the Beer and I had the chance to be on a Record.

It is a great Song. I appreciated being there. In the good old Times.

Didn´t she also said something about Franz Josef Strauss this evenenig ?

Ah yes it was raining - I rember too - I brought a Plastic Sheet and shared it with the others.

  • Maravilloso!! Wonderful!!!

  • thank you

  • Great song! Shows Imus was wrong when he said that Kinky Friedman's "Ride 'em Jewboy" was the only song about the Holocaust.

  • love you Joan

  • Beautiful! Thanks for posting it.

  • I love this song.....the message is strong and stands the test of time. Joan sings this hauntingly beautiful song like no other can sing it. Joan with such sad eyes as she pours her heart and soul into this song.

  • Ich liebe diese Musik und diese Frau nun schon seit 34 Jahren!!!

    Immer noch wunderschön, danke!

  • I joined this concert in 1980. And i keep it in my memory.

  • In her memoire, she wrote about how she'd started to experience problems with her voice in the mid 1970s (around the time "Diamonds & Rust" came out), and finally relented and started working with a vocal coach. This clip, recorded about four years later, and the fruits of four years of vocal training were apparent. Her voice was every bit as glorious as on her 1960 debut album.

  • Absolutely wonderful - Joan is still touring constantly, and a new cd Day After Tomorrow produced by Steve Earle will be released on 9th Sept 2008, and she will be out touring again.

  • I was there! Extraordinary concert. Joany on the height of her career!

I was an awful weather in summertime, raining cats and dogs, thunderstorm...and she made no break! just continued singing for all of us.

If you happen to have more from this concert, tell me! Thanks mate!

  • uhm... Joany's height of success was 1962- 1964.. many many years before.. she was a legend, OLD Fame, by this point. But still Fabulous.

  • Great song!

  • Peak form!
