the reason they gave them a hide skill is bc they start with one and it would be ridiculous to take away that skill when no other class has had one of their starting skills taken away. and rangers are the worst class i have ever seen when you first become a ranger. only class i have ever seen in any MMORPG that starts with a god awful grind that doesnt really end until lvl 19

Well, I know NCsoft from Lineage II. For example, paladins were supposed to have highest magical defense in there but all you had to do was launch an extra spell. Even if they survive and catch you, not to worry. They will be like chopping trees with a rusty axe. In a game like Aion or Lineage, it doesn't matter how low your defense are, if you can kill quick then you are good. That's why it's unnecessary to give hide skill to rangers, it's a big plus and not fair.

OP does not make sense. When you think about it, all classes have their own de-buffs. Bestial Furry on a ranger decreases their range considerably and makes them more vulnerable. I've honestly found Ranger an OK class. It makes a good ambush from HIDE class in the Abyss, ultra super support in mass PvP. Ranger in Dredgion PvP can either be a fail or win due to their high-priority status. I chose Assassin over Ranger because of continuous DPS, not burst.

@guitarking3221 fastest depends on play style, and best dps is situation oriented. ranger is arguably best single target dps whilst sorcerer is best AoE, however gladiators and assassins are very good, and spirit masters are considered by many as the face melters. personally, ive found that your damage output and leveling speed depends on how you play and what you like/excell at, eg i suck at melee characters and thus level slower and do less dps on them compared to rangers or spell casters

If you like dps its pretty obvious the choose Ranger, between the Ranger and Sorc, the sorc out dps the ranger til they hit lvl 45. Thats the point where the ranger out dps the sorc. And at 50 the Ranger is the best, and most successful class hands down. As for the templar, its the tanking class. The glad is more of and hybrid class. I dont know that much about the glad class. Havent looked into it.

@iNorway If u like dps then choose sorc. Rangers has the WORST DPS ( i play ranger) We are good for burst damage which is basically for the first 10 seconds which we are #1 in. Dont say ranger is the best either.. every class has the potential to be the better class but hands down everything is Equal. Temps= best tanks Ranger= #1 burst damage sin\sorc = best dps over time

THing you have to realize is that with rangers you have to kite. MOst people say o you run into mobs. Thats true, but can definitely be avoided if you rotate your camera. Also, jumpshot is key to rangers

elyos and asmo both get the skills, it's a chain skill, first is the black then the fire one, it's your endgame skills, lvl 45 and 50.

For those Rangers having a hard time under level 20, try this when fighting. No kiting required. Bring the mob to 75%-50% (depends on how tough the mob is of course), the switch to swords. Melee until you see the mob powering up, use Focused Evasion>Dodge the next attack>Counter Attack to stun them>get behind them and use Surprise Attack. This tactic is extremely effective. Make sure every manastone slot has evasion in it or accuracy. Rangers rock at ANY level if you know how.

I got a 13 ranger, and they are boring as fuck. I have TWO spells for my bow. Kiting is boring as most places are packed with pre-emtive mobs.

You get new spells every 3 levels, 3 6 9 12 15 18 etc. and I heard rangers get fun at 18+ but I just cba to level it so I made a chanter and I dont die and i deal quite abit of dmg :)

I think the ranger is good for soloing. The ranger do have a lot of damage but not too much and the armor is kinda weak, but that is no problem because they are good at dodging and stuff. They also have traps if you like that :)

Im just lvl 12 with my ranger, and they have not bloomed yet. From what I heard they become much more fun lvl 20+. My only advice is that to play ranger you really have to enjoy kiting. In Aion, more than in any other game I have played, you pick the class after your prefered playstyle.

yeah i played ranger up to lvl 14 in BETA. and after chosing ranger u may regret it as the damage seems very low. however i play a sorcerer now (which is very good fun) i am lvl 18 steadily plodding along :) the rangers that i see at lvl 20ish seem to be getting some nice abilities and seem to be able to kill stuff b4 it reaches them to avoid endless kiting which inevitably leads u into a pack of mobs.... Rangers r so fun, They use bows and also melee but to an extent. They Transform into Beasts at higher levels and also get traps ...and their spells look orgasmic. They don't take damage a lot because of kiting which allows you to level quicker .They are pretty crappy at low levels but its worth it when your higher

That was the point. The makers didn't want you too look like a fag, so most usable gear for your class fits with your style, and you can change a piece of gear to look like one thing and have the stats of another, so you always look cool :)
