Yes. Bruce Lee has explained certain things that will help learn this technique. It's not only about the importance of breath control, but also muscle control. He often said that you must know when to strain your muscles, and that is immediatelu upon, or rather before, the impact.

That ultimately is the same technique with percussion and drumming as well. The movement is fluid & relaxed, whereas the only moment should strain happen, is upon impact.
