That's true. I'm not racist or anything but around my way there's plenty of caucasian's with dreds and it just looks.... Wrong and nasty i'm sorry. But some caucasian people can really rock the hell out of dreds though and they be all straight and thin which looks alright. for example i knew this girl who was real pretty she had braids before and rocked variations of braided Afro themed hairstyles. then she decided to do dreads and it did not suit her at all.

Some hairstyles are gonna look awful on some people maybe that was simply the case with sweet africa. just because one acknowledged it doesn't mean he has a fucked perception of beauty

@deionc hey girl i agree, i think that one of the issues that lots of women have with locs is that you mostly only see afro centric bohemian style women with dreads, which causes people like myself (contemporary, funky, vintage with a little afrocentricity thrown in) to feel like dreads arent a good option. However I intend to change that thought process so more women will be interested in dreads, and not feel like they have to change their clothing style.

i am black but from what I have seen, with straight hair you should go to a salon to get it started and parted out the way you want it. from there if you palmroll and latch you should be able to achieve that look. are you on facebook because there are alot of groups with white & black people with dreads and they all share their methods and pix and everything!

i actually got my old locks in a salon, and they looked good at first, but then after a month or so, there was loose hair falling out everywhere. i used the palmroll method everyday.
