@video: Revenue and taxes are different. The Fair tax eliminates alot of wasteful spending, which means to have the same revenue you have lower taxes.
Also Ron Paul is in favor of a flat tax, not a no tax. He has been saying it over and over again that he would love to remove the tax, but it is impossible too. So he would still have a small flat tax.
Ron Paul and Huckabee are both in the right direction, they have different ideas how to eliminate the IRS and give back power to the states.

To say the "Fair Tax" is "revenue neutral" does not mean we'd all be paying the same amount of taxes. The rich would still pay the most, the middle class much less, and the poor nothing. But MORE people would be contributing to our tax system who currently do not (illegal aliens, foreign tourists, drug dealers, hookers,etc) So while it would be "revenue neutral", most of us would still end up paying less taxes.
This video is a bit misleading about the FairTax - yes it is revenue neutral, but you wouldn't be paying the same amount of taxes -- you are NOT taxed on your income, only on your consumption OVER the poverty line. Revenue neutral means the governmnet would still bring in the same amount of money - now illegals & tourists are paying taxes there for widening the tax base.

A fair tax, while not as great as Ron Paul's "flat tax" of $0, is still preferable to the income tax, simply because it is based on consumption, not earnings. The more you spend, the more you are taxed, while those who prefer to save or donate are not penalized.
However, Ron Paul's tax involves cutting down the size and scope of government, overseas military expenditures, and moving the private sector from oppression to prosperity.
Both are better than the current system. Vote smart.

Actually the income tax goes to pay the interest from borrowing from the federal reserve. a majority of services that come from taxes are actually your state taxes and other fees. They are not saying do away with taxes, rather just the income tax:) We are actually funding our mega military by borrowing and overspending.

Savings are surplus after tax income. $20,000 in the bank right now will buy you a $20,000 car (net of existing sales taxes). When this tax goes in, that same $20,000 will only buy you a $14,815 car (assuming 35% fair tax, net of existing sales taxes).

fairtax isnt all that fair. In order to preserve revenue levels the national sales tax would have to be about 30%. That means on every item you buy under the fairtax system you pay an extra 30% There will be no one who gets tax relief under this plan because there is no way of sorting it out.
Senior retired citizens will pay just as much in taxes as their working children and grandchildren. Sure the tax is more fair in that everyone pays the tax and its distributed evenly by the amount of goods bought, but the way this will shift the debt burden around is simply wrong. Paul will get rid of the income tax and replace it with nothing, not a sales tax, not a property tax, nothing.
Huckabee will replace the income tax with a burdensome sales tax which might as well be an income tax, the poor aren't big savers they spend the little that comes in

This is in fact the reason for those get cash now stores in poor neighborhoods, its for those who need the money before their paycheck gets there and are willing to pay a price. and about drug dealers... no drug dealer is gonna add a sales tax to something he's selling illegally. or are you implying they'd pay more elsewhere. Drug dealers make little to no money. Drug dealing is usually done in a heirarchy, the top few levels make the money, and more often than not they don't live in the U.S. Don't know as much about arms smuggling, but im sure there are some similarities.

I supported the Fairtax long before Mike Huckabee ran for President. His Fairtax endorsement has sealed the deal of me. Ron Paul said he would sign it if it comes to his desk, not push for it like Huckabee. Mike's got my vote.
So you would rather pay a flat tax than zero tax..... there is no law requiring you to file a federal income tax... find the law and you win a cookie.... abolishing the irs is the ocnstitutional thing to do and replace it with nothing.... suprem court decision 90 years ago stated a mans labor for wages is an equal trade and not taxable and that ruling has been dis reguarded and not reversed for since we began the income tax ... why?

I support a replacement for the income tax, not abolishing the federal government...not a bad idea but one thing at a time. Fairtax makes the cost of Government transparent, not hidden in the cost of goods and services. Read the Fairtax Book and see for yourself.
I would take the fair tax over the current system but it is still unconstitutional and shoved down our throat as well as unneeded to pay for anything we need to do as a country ... 100% of all personal income taxes goes to pay the interest on the money the federal reserve creates when the government (congrewwss) could do it themselves without that interest......

Even though I'm a Ron Paul fan--I endorse the Fair Tax. Yes, I--like everyone else--would like to see an end to the Personal Income tax advocated by Ron Paul, but I'm not sure replacing the income tax with no taxes is feasible. It it were possible to do so, I would all for it. If not, the Fair Tax would be the next best solution to the problem.

@video: Revenue and taxes are different. The Fair tax eliminates alot of wasteful spending, which means to have the same revenue you have lower taxes.
Also Ron Paul is in favor of a flat tax, not a no tax. He has been saying it over and over again that he would love to remove the tax, but it is impossible too. So he would still have a small flat tax.
Ron Paul and Huckabee are both in the right direction, they have different ideas how to eliminate the IRS and give back power to the states.

To say the "Fair Tax" is "revenue neutral" does not mean we'd all be paying the same amount of taxes. The rich would still pay the most, the middle class much less, and the poor nothing. But MORE people would be contributing to our tax system who currently do not (illegal aliens, foreign tourists, drug dealers, hookers,etc) So while it would be "revenue neutral", most of us would still end up paying less taxes.

This video is a bit misleading about the FairTax - yes it is revenue neutral, but you wouldn't be paying the same amount of taxes -- you are NOT taxed on your income, only on your consumption OVER the poverty line. Revenue neutral means the governmnet would still bring in the same amount of money - now illegals & tourists are paying taxes there for widening the tax base.

A fair tax, while not as great as Ron Paul's "flat tax" of $0, is still preferable to the income tax, simply because it is based on consumption, not earnings. The more you spend, the more you are taxed, while those who prefer to save or donate are not penalized.
However, Ron Paul's tax involves cutting down the size and scope of government, overseas military expenditures, and moving the private sector from oppression to prosperity.
Both are better than the current system. Vote smart.

Actually the income tax goes to pay the interest from borrowing from the federal reserve. a majority of services that come from taxes are actually your state taxes and other fees. They are not saying do away with taxes, rather just the income tax:) We are actually funding our mega military by borrowing and overspending.

Maybe I'm missing the point, but I still have a problem with destroying the IRS, I'm not in favor of it by any means, but a flat tax wouldn't work, call me a commie pinko but, I would like to see an agency that can give back to the lower and middle class, without giving massive breaks to the rich, oh god, set myself up there! I'm a Ron Paul supporter. I've voted for him. I've donated to him. I also like Huckabee. I dont agree with him on everything, but I'll take him over Romney or McCain.
When Ron Paul talks at the debates and McCain and Romney start laughing no matter what he's saying, Huckabee actually listens, even if he disagrees. Ending the IRS is a step, even if the FairTax takes its place, its BETTER than what we currently have, even Ron Paul agrees. I would hope if Huckabee won, he found a place for Paul.

Also since the Federal reserve is a private bank how do we know if their owners give two cents about Americas interests. Our founding fathers opposed this as explained in the constitution if any one within recent years cares to pick up a copy and read the dam thing. Well our income tax that all US citizens are supposed to pay gets put back into the machine we know as the Federal Reserve which is a PRIVATE COMMERCIAL BANK and not one that is affiliated with our government other than being in charge of unconstitutionally coining money, levying taxes and changing interest rates. Here is a question Gov Huck -- did you call any nursing home, and ask what they will do when you make them pay 23% sales tax on their patients? Did you call Cancer hospitals, and ask them? Did you call realtors and ask them about the 23% sales tax on new homes? Did you call the Pentagon and ask how they will pay for 23% extra cost on all they buy?

I agree that consumption taxes are fairer. However, if implemented, how will the government phase this tax in without double taxing anyone who has savings?
Savings are surplus after tax income. $20,000 in the bank right now will buy you a $20,000 car (net of existing sales taxes). When this tax goes in, that same $20,000 will only buy you a $14,815 car (assuming 35% fair tax, net of existing sales taxes).

fairtax isnt all that fair. In order to preserve revenue levels the national sales tax would have to be about 30%. That means on every item you buy under the fairtax system you pay an extra 30% There will be no one who gets tax relief under this plan because there is no way of sorting it out.

Senior retired citizens will pay just as much in taxes as their working children and grandchildren. Sure the tax is more fair in that everyone pays the tax and its distributed evenly by the amount of goods bought, but the way this will shift the debt burden around is simply wrong. Paul will get rid of the income tax and replace it with nothing, not a sales tax, not a property tax, nothing.

the poor would have their entire check, so they'd probably be more inclined to save. and what about all the the really expensive things rich people buy? 20% of that that is a lot of revune. Plus, people who make money illegally (e.g, drug dealers, arms dealers etc) would pay a lot more than what they are now - which is nothing except a small sales tax.

the poor dont make enough money to save much if anything. More often than not they spend their entire check as it comes in. This is in fact the reason for those get cash now stores in poor neighborhoods, its for those who need the money before their paycheck gets there and are willing to pay a price. As for the Rich, they tend to buy stuff out of the country, those that don't would certainly recieve a high incentive to very quickly.

and about drug dealers... no drug dealer is gonna add a sales tax to something he's selling illegally. or are you implying they'd pay more elsewhere. Drug dealers make little to no money. Drug dealing is usually done in a heirarchy, the top few levels make the money, and more often than not they don't live in the U.S. Don't know as much about arms smuggling, but im sure there are some similarities.

I love how Ron Paul talks about how he is so American. I love how he promises the people that he will get rid of the IRS. I love how he tells the people how he will bring home all of the American troops stationed around the world. He is truly not American. He is going to the most naive group of people and telling them how he is going to do all of these things. He is really a hypocrite. Getting rid of the income tax is virtually impossible.

Property taxes goes to public education (which kinda ticks me off 'cause my kids go to private school...why should I have to pay for other kid's education, but whatever that's not the point here) Income taxes, to my knowledge, goes towards paying off the interest on our national debt. THE INTEREST! How about we CUT SPENDING so we have LESS national debt. Now THERE'S an idea! No more spending on this pointless war.

Huckabee is just copying Ron Paul's ideas because he sees that they're popular with the American people. The difference is that Ron Paul has been saying the same thing for 40 years and has been backing it up. Huckabee has a record of doing the exact opposite of what he's saying now about the IRS and taxes.

I would take the fair tax over the current system but it is still unconstitutional and shoved down our throat as well as unneeded to pay for anything we need to do as a country ... 100% of all personal income taxes goes to pay the interest on the money the federal reserve creates when the government (congrewwss) could do it themselves without that interest......

3.Corporations/businesses don't really pay taxes..their corporate/payroll taxes are built into the products we buy....hence "taxing the rich" is a tax on the middle and lower income consumers.

1.) federal judges have zero to do with a presidential order abolishing IRS
2.) he didnt sponser it becuase it is a still a tax on the people on their wages from their labor which in a supreme court decision pre dating the irs ruled that a mans wages from labor are an even exchange and thus not taxable.. Even though I'm a Ron Paul fan--I endorse the Fair Tax. Yes, I--like everyone else--would like to see an end to the Personal Income tax advocated by Ron Paul, but I'm not sure replacing the income tax with no taxes is feasible. It it were possible to do so, I would all for it. If not, the Fair Tax would be the next best solution to the problem.
