I wore a bonnet to bed and it was kinda mushed on one side this morning..is that just 1 of the things I'll have to accept when wearing this, or do I need to sleep like 'The Thinker' all night with my chin propped on my hand? lol...I know u r into art too, so u will understand what I mean...but help me out

  • Hey girl! So sorry ....I still owe you a holla back but life has me going in circles. Whole Foods in Alexandria is my spot too, as well as Trader Joes on St. Asaph Street. Maybe I'll run into you again soon. Hope you are Blessed!

  • I just love your videos. I'm going to try this again after i take these yarn braids down.

  • Do you use the same moisturizing technique in the summer and the winter? Also, when you use kinky curly curling custard aren't you suppose to remove all the oils from your hair. The maker of kinky curly suggests using her shampoo with baking soda to remove oils properly. However, I know how alkaline baking soda is and would not want to try this. How do you remove the oil buildup on your hair before using kinky curly curling custard.

  • Hi, Kimmay!! Just a few words to say "Thank you". Your videos are always very informative and always extremely well made. I can see you put a lot of your time educating and sharing with others and furthermore I think they are the reflection of a very strong woman! Hope it's not too cheesy, one more time thanks for your videos.

  • love this vid =)

  • Hi, Kimmay! Once again i'd like to thank you for making these wonderfully informative and inspiring videos. I'd like to make a request. Could you please address the whole greasing the scalp thing? I personally don't believe in greasing my scalp even though that's what I was taught. I'd love to know your thoughts on this. Thanks!

  • Just waiting for the book Kimmay! You ROCK!

  • you are so beautiful :) this hairstyle is awesome!

  • I wanna show ppl what Im working with!!

  • Lady Daisey user from the Caribbean shouting out to Kimmay!!!! Oh Yeah!!!

Who would have thought that a hair dryer would help me feel connected to you ;o) kidding lol.

Love your videos and the wealth of info that you take the time and effort to share. They've changed my perspective on how I view and handle my natural hair a lot. I've hit a major stumbling block/s of split ends, easy breakage and shedding but you keep me encouraged. Thank you and God Bless you in your endeavors

    Love from T&T :OD

  • One thing I noticed that you did unlike what I typically do for my two-strand twists is you loosely wrapped your twists during twisting whereas when I do my two-strands to wear as is I roll the hair when doing the twists which causes them to look more like finger coils once separated. It seems that doing them the way you did makes them appear flatter instead of round. Hope this makes since. Anyway, I can't wait to try this! And your hair looks beautiful as always!

  • OMG!! this is sooo gorgeous! I will be doing this style instead of the crazy straw set that I bought like 100 straws for !! This is way easier and simpler to do! and I can totally refresh and retwist when the style gets old!

  • It looks soooo BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

  • Hi Kim, my daughter and I love your info-vids. QQ: my daughter swims a lot over the summer..she adores the protective styles you wear, but a easy fav of mine are her two french braids. Last summer, she ended up w a blonde streak in the front of her hair, sun& chlorine, just being an outdoorsy type kid. Any suggestions on keeping her hair from getting dry over the summer (no, she doesn't use swim caps..she has a lot of hair and they fit uber snug). Hope you can respond.. TY xoxo

  • You look sooo cute with this! Your hair is so thick and gorgeous. Love it!

  • lovely hair, beautiful growth, such an inspiration. Do you take any vitamins or are there any that you would recommend?

  • Woo! with your videos, I couldn't subscribe to you fast enough! Thank you for all your hard work and the professionalism that shows through in each and every vid you make :0)

  • thank u... ur a doll. i will do this for my 21st birthday

  • Just want to thank you for your videos!!! Great channel!!!

  • Love Jojoba Oil, its so light and does the job!

    ~keep it real *thumbs up*

  • loves it! your curls are so bouncy! :)

  • u r gorgeous, kimmay! i want to do more protective styles but i love my afro!

  • Thank u soooo much for this! Ur totally right. Just trying to get over the "its not fair, we should be able to..." complex.

  • @kittrin I have that same problem. I find myself constantly saying "I wish I didn't have to do so much. Other races don't have to..." But I realized when I do reach my goal (and I will) my victory will taste SO sweet! :)

  • Your hair is so beautiful!!

  • Ms Kim, have you had days when your hair did not turn out as curly; as if there wasn't enough hold to form a proper curl? I am currently having that problem and I am wondering if the "wrap and roll" by Jane Carter would help. My hair is the same length as yours with very similar texture. Looks great! Thank you so much for sharing! Excellent quality videos and information!

  • Do you ever do wash and gos?

  • Stunning! And your shoulders and biceps are amazing...

  • Kimmay, i know you stress protective styling. I would love nothing more than to incorporate this into my hair regimen as i want to retain length and moisture. However how can individuals with TWA, like myself do so? BTW your hair is beautiful.

  • Thank you so much for your videos!! I am still a fairly new natural (just about 6 months in) and I have seen so much growth and beauty since beginning to use ur videos as an education source.. I am grateful that u are doing this...I was one of the girls told that my hair was too "nappy" to be natural...Now I understand how foolish that statement is and I can care for my daughter's hair and help her see the beauty in it as she and it grows! Thank you

  • Your hair turned out great! You look so pretty! Im going to order that book soon, there's still so much for me to learn although my technique has shown pretty good results. I just did a straw set on my TWA with your leave in conditioner and honay it's helped a BUNCH w/moisture. Thanks alot and keep up the good work, you're very inspiring :)

  • before i applied your methods i use to think my hair did not have a curl pattern...but your hair journey truly inspired me to take the time to take care of my hair, and your methods showed me how...now it has curls & i love my hair & it is thanks to you...keep up the good work & thank you sssoooooo much :) this video just gave me insight as to how much my hair will grow if i keep treating it right.

  • Very Nice:-)... You are very educated ma'am..lol

  • Girl, be glam to run your errands and proud of it! Uh huh!

  • awesome awesome awesome!

  • Shake Shake Shake...shake your hair! LOL

  • oh i do love your videos

  • This is such a beautiful hairstyle! I use Curlformers to curl my twists, but I never attempted to separate my twists yet...I don't know what is holding me back (maybe the frizz?), but I will attempt it this weekend now that I know to use a natural oil for slip. :)

  • Luv yah! Great video! I am loving the curls. Can't wait until your next video.

  • You're gonna go insane constantly defending yourself against viewers who challenge your every hair move. Just do you- and if others don't wanna get on the boat, then let em drown. No, actually I don't want them to drown- I'm just saying- you're doing what obviously works for you and could potentially work for others. Everyone has their own practices, which may or may not work for them and perhaps they feel threatened by your knowledge.. anyway, I'm rambling. just keep up the good work!

  • This reminds me of Corinne Bailey Rae's hair. Very pretty.

  • Kimmay what a coincidence, I'm on my way to whole foods for KCCC today (I'm getting my giovanni from walmart)...I'm not glamorous tho LOL. BEAUTIFUL CURLS!

  • wow just lovely I am going to try this style on friday...Thanks so much for sharing your style with the world God bless you!

  • Thanks for making your videos! You were one of the many Youtubers that inspired me to go natural! Now it has been two weeks since I did the BC and everything is great! So thank you, Kimmay!

  • Thanks for making your videos! You were one of the many Youtubers that inspired me to go natural! Now it has been two weeks since I did the BC and everything is great! So thank you, Kimmay!

  • Ohh pretty pretty pretty..aint nothing wrong with looking fierce while grocery shopping! lol. Such gorgeous, healthy hair Kimmay. :-)

  • Love the style! Your videos inspire me to take better care of my hair. I learn so much from your videos. You've also inspired me to really educate myself on proper hair care of our hair through research. It's been 4 months since I did my bc and I've learned so much info in this span of time. Keep the videos coming! :-)

  • I'm in awe at your hairgrowth. You are truly an inspiration.

  • Very pretty!!!

  • I love your curls they looks so cute...lol @ you're just oing to the store lol, I do that too sometimes, ain't nothing wrong in looking good even if its just to go to the grocery store :)

  • You are so doggone cute.

  • @keebs1981

CONGRATS on your graduation! Go for it! :o)

  • @keebs1981 I actually did this style, with a few tweeks, for my graduation and it came out great!!!

  • @keebs1981 I actually did this style, with a few tweeks, for my graduation and it came out great!!!

  • Your hair is beautiful! Thank you yet again for another video and the information that you provided in the description box. I keep my hair in two strand twists and I am really seeing lots of growth. I did try to step out of my comfort zone by doing a rollerset but...it was not successful. I will wear my hair our for a few days then shampoo, condition and twist back up (I love two strand twists!).

  • Kim I love those curls, I am using your suggestions and I am gretting good results, I am know where near your length, but I have healthy hair. Thanks! sooo much for all you do.

  • I am glad I found your videos, Jesus thank you a whole new guide to natural hair gosh fantastic like I said you are the business. I got the book by Cathy Howse and I am reading and slapping myself because of all the helpful tips and information in there

  • @mszeee

Cathy Howse-- I LOVE that woman! lol.

I honestly owe a lot of what I know to her. Her book set me down the right path for hair care. I'm glad I'm sending folks to her Amazon page because she totally deserves it. Between her and Chicoro those are th only books I found worthy of mentioning to the public. Keep in mind, I own a LOT of hair care books. Enjoy!

  • Thanks so much for sharing "Kimmay"

  • @nappilyevaafta

Hey lady! Thanks for taking the time to drop me a line. I smile whenever I see your name. :o)

  • Thanks for being so generous in sharing what you have learned and for bringing facts to the forefront. Your hair is beautiful as usual :)

  • @kemacoils

    No problem! My pleasure. :o)

  • This is beautiful!

  • @BrianluvsKrissy

    Thank you! :o)

  • so pretty

  • @NuNaturalness

    aw, thank you! :o)

  • I like this technique very much,, I want to try it for the upcoming weekend for a dance. I'm just wondering if after a few days , doesn't this hair get dangled? And how do you get that style to wash out? Do you use that dangling method you have shown. Or do you comb through first , then use that method? Thanks much love..Keep the vids coming .. You most helpful..

    xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

  • @cgrepresentative

    Thanks! :o)

Kinky afro textured hair, in it's natural state, is always tangled to some degree. Because our shed hair doesn't fall freely from our scalp. Once I'm done with this style, I detangle, wash and conditon my hair like normally. I have a few videos showing this already.

  • Cute. I do something similar with two strand twists when I want my hair to look shorter. Yours turned out quite similar and bouncy :)

  • i think your videos are very well done. i must admit, i never do protective styles. i only use all natural products. seems to work for me. not sure if you know of others like me.

  • @Trinigirl4real

Products and protective styles are two different subjects. Products don't preserve hair. The products I use on my hair has nothing to do with how I handle it on a daily basis which protects it from wear and tear. So honestly, I'm not sure of the point you're trying to make. You can explain further if you'd like.

  • I'M ABOUT TO HAVE A KIM-GASM! I just finished your pre-poo/detangling method. I lost much less hair and I doubt I even had to finger detangle.

DIVAS ON A DIET: Pre-pooing + exercising= healthier hair AND body!

I hate it when I'm mid-shower and I forget the next step to your routine! Keep the videos coming!

  • @MizzMilk

Ya'll are wild! LOL. These comments crack me up. I love my subs! Thanks for posting.

    :o)

  • @MizzMilk LOL! I thought I was the only one that got in the shower and forgot the routine! Need to write it down and put it in something waterproof and take it in the shower with me!

  • Fab!!! as usual... I wish all I needed was 20 inches to reach waist length. I am 6 foot 1, and like you my mission is to grow my hair to it's longest potential..I have a long way to go I am currently at shoulder length. Happy Growing!!!

  • Wow your hair is really beautiful can't wait to try it out.

  • I have been wear my hair in protective styles for the last few months. I been add water and leave-in conditioner to my hair every few days, and pre-poo with conditioner to detangle and this help minimize breakage. I have already seen hair growth. Thanks Kimmaytube!!!

  • @sanaa979

Awesome! Thanks for letting me know about your results. Keep me posted! :o)

  • just lovely.

  • GORGEOUS!!!!!

  • Glam it up, lady!

  • Havent you become quite the D!VA. More confidence from your earlier videos. Thats great

  • I love those close-ups of your hair, they reveal the beautiful sheen/shine your hair has! Now, that's "good" hair! :-)

  • Thanks Kim! Your vids are so helpful-

  • I know you've already got the products that you loved, but I was wondering if you've tried out Miracurl. It's an all-natural product that apparently gives better curl definition that KCCC, at a lower price. If you get the time, please try it out for us!

  • @ashababe56

lol. I've already said that I'm not going to go out & purchase products solicited to me on Youtube for the heck of it. :o) Yes, I've heard good things about Miracurl, but unfortunately it never seems to be in stock. I'm sure the owners know that I'm here if they're looking for free advertising. Besides, the price of KCCC is a non issue for me. Because I don't use it everyday like some feel the need to do.

  • very nice...after that I'm ready for a Kimmaytube Summer Fashion show!

  • YES KIMMAY YES! You better work it!

  • You're fabulous! - But I'm pretty sure you're aware of this! Thank you for providing us with a high quality resource, there's no excuse for not knowing how to take care of afro hair if you've got a computer and can spell 'kimmaytube'!!

  • i loved the eyebrow lift at the end...lol...im so silly :)

  • Aww, your hair looks cute!

  • Love it! As usual

  • wooow kimmay 16 inches! I was wanting to know that for the longest I'm at 10'' I cant wait until I get to 16. I was wondering how long your hair was because your shrinkage didn't look to be as much as mine but now I see why lol. I like this look

  • Thanks for another great hair video and especially the important information about OUR hair, I too have my hair in protective styles 90% of the time. :)

  • Love your vids/tutorials. They are so informative. Your hair is beautiful!! I have been reading lots, getting educatedon proper hair care techniques and trying to establish a healthy regimen for my hair. My last relaxer was in January '10 and big chopped at the end of March. It has been a challenge at times balancing moisture, trying many products, etc. You are a true inspiration. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, time and encouragement.

  • I like your voice it's like I'm really watching a commercial.

  • Your eyes are gorgeous!

  • Just Beautiful Kimmy, Love your videos. Please tell me which setting product you used, beore rolling your hair. I really like the results, it looks smooth.

  • Love it another KLove special! lol

  • Gorgeous style! I figured you were looking/laughing with him when you looked off to the side. Great video Kim. Keep up the awesome work. I had a dream that I saw you sitting on the stage of the Oprah Show. She was interviewing YOU as a natural hair Guru Phenomenon that blew up because of your knowledge, personality and ability to constantly keep it real and tell it like it is! Here's hoping my dream comes true for you!

  • @CurlyCaprice I forgot to say, if I hadn't have gone to sleep watching your video I probably would've dreamed about spiders or worse...work! ; ) Everybody was so proud of you in my dream...

  • That is so pretty! Also, you give great advice - not just for black hair, but for all curlies - I love watching your vids and reading your info boxes. Thanks again...

...And thanks to your hubby for sharing you with us ;) x

  • @rosalynanna HA, I just realised that that sounded kinda creepy - sorry, it really wasn't meant to!!!

  • Love this style now I have to still it and try it for myself..

  • another great vid, thanks for the lesson.

  • yet another informative video....i just wish i found you before :)

  • very nice! i love the "ooooh this is gonna be cute!" twinkle in your eyes as you're taking down the curls.

    Thanks for the vid!

  • y would u dislike this vid?...lol..they prolly pressed it by accident

  • Beautiful!!!!!

  • this video helped me so so much...i have much shorter hair and still really confused about my hair type..lol...but i was just crying about my frizziness...and had to wash my twist out and wash and go...this was awesome..... do you have any protective styles for shorter hair. my hair is about jawline in the front and not quite to the shoulders in my back we can say it's all jaw line..LOL

  • I ABSOLUTELY love it!!! You look gorgeous!

  • Very well put together. I love your music. Makes me want to go to a cool happy hour spot for libations!

  • Hey Kimmay! Excellent vid as always. Thanks.

  • I just love your hair!

I'm trying to get with the protective styles, but I like playing in my hair too much!

  • pretty!

  • loved this vid, especially the part about you heading to the grocery store with your hair do.. You rock it even to whole foods. lol

  • I love the way u take care of ur hair....I want to telll u thanks for your videos because now I understand what I have to do with my hair... kisses from Italy!

  • I know exactly what you mean when you say you would like to wait until your hair gets at an imressive length for you before you flat iron it, I am the same way. People are always asking my "when are going to straighten your hair?" (no time soon). I've been natural for 2 years and stated I would probably until 4th or 5th years in before I straighten my hair. I too want to be SHOCKED!!!!

  • LOL i almost choked on my food when i saw that little annotation:

know how to 'ak' with your hair out! hahaha you better WORK! haaha great vid

  • i love how you kill 'em with the facts! lol lol so true and as always...thanks for doing this!!!

  • LOL @ your hubby in the room, mine does the same thing. I see that is something that occurs with a lot of us when we try to "do our thang." Gotta love 'em!

  • wow, didnt know you were in the area (alexandria), gotta love that 6.99 coconut oil 365 brand!

  • Great video Kimma.... I've been watching your channel for about 4 months now and I finally did my big chop 2 days again to acheive beautiful and healthy hair.. Thx for your time and positive energy.. I already know how difficult it can be to create these excellent videos for us girls.... Thx for the daily and necessary knowledge...

  • another fabulous video!

  • Great video Kimmay.... Your always on top of your game!!

  • Protective styles, yeah yeah yeah. But I need to know where you got them EARRANGS!!!

  • Love this vid. Keep up the great work. Kim could you please sell some cute flowers for the hair, in your store.

  • Hi Kimmay, just want you to know that I love your videos!

  • Hello Kim , thank you for the items I ordered from you store. I love this vid. Could you please sell some flowers for the hair, I notice that Goody have some pretty flowers for the hair, but you will have to drive to all the stores to find them. Please collect us some pretty flowers that we can just clip in our hair.

  • I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS

  • Fabulous!!!

  • Is it sad that I look forward to videos from you just as much as I do some of my favorite tv shows??!! hahaha

Your hair looks fab, as always! And my protective styles are looking even better with the hair accessories I finally received from LuvNaturals. :)

  • Look to the left, husband's in the room LOL :-D

  • @niaevans I thought that was funny too!

    *clippers buzzing in background*

  • Thank you soooooo much for all you do. Please know that your work is NOT in vain. All it takes is one person to start a revolution :-) I am just starting my journey and I plan on telling everyone I know about the choices WE have as kinky-curly women. May God continue to bless you and your business.

  • great video,

I love to see your hair growth. I have been natural on and off for 13 years, really natural for the last 4 years. I am on my own hair growth challenge, I want to preserve length so I am gonna try the protective styles because nothing else has worked. BTW I recommend your channel to all my natural friends and they luv you too. Keep up the GREAT work!!!! I have learn more about my own hair from you....Thank you for all of your knowledge....(0:
