  • It's in the DNA.

  • Elvis in his thirties absolutely Phenomenal. Totally outstanding. Had it all, looks, charisma, voice, personality. Totally outstanding

  • Great stuff, a truely great song , sung by the best person for the job.

Wow, just gets in doesn't it !

    From - Australia.

  • @schitzso Elvis Thats The Way It Is

  • jaja

  • This music reminds my dad as he has this original record home. And I was always listening and up today, almost 40 years later, it is a song that touches my heart so deeply that I feel a great deal of piece in my heart. Elvis, the one, the only! 4ever!!!!!!

  • elvis is the true americian idol the one and only

  • elvis is the true americian idol

  • Love to listen to his songs for more than 30 years, he's the great.

  • wow....what a voice, definitely once in a lifetime ....RIP Elvis.

  • really lol he must have liked elvis's version of it

  • this is better than Simon and Garfunkels by far

  • @fpbeast Paul Simon thought so, too.

  • Happy Birthday Daddy....Aaron

  • Absolutely incredible performance. Just came from S & G's version, and have to say that this one has more "soul", passion, and power. Saw both Elvis and Garfunkel live (many years apart of course). Garfunkel has a beautiful voice and enjoyed his concert. Elvis had charisma like no other, and it was a magical experience from beginning to end. Bridge Over Troubled Water was sung live at both concerts, and again, Garfunkels version was beautiful, but Elvis's version touched my soul.

  • What a voice, oh my god!!!!!!!

  • When Elvis sings this song, you know he means every word he's singing. Nobody can do this song with this passion.

  • This is one singer that song with his heart and soul and will always be remembered as that .

  • Aw Elvis, I'm crying! What a beautiful song and sang gorgeous, makes me want to just take him in my arms! xx

  • Many artists have recorded this great song and with all respect to Simon and Garfunkel, Elvis owns this!

  • one of hist best songs...

  • Very rarely are covers better than the original song...and this is no exception. Simon & Garfunkel did it first and did it best. This is good. But the original is the greatest and most beautiful song that I've ever heard.

  • Well that's you're opinion! I love the quotes by Simon himself:

After he saw Elvis in Vegas perform this song he said to a reporter:

"How the hell am i suppose to compete with that?"

    He also said:

"He sang it how it was written to be sung"

So if he could appreciate it's greatness maybe you can too. fyi, this is not my favorite of Elvis's version of Bridge...listen to one where he is wearing white jumpsuit with silver on it. That is the one that blows my mind with its power and tenderness.

  • jon bon jovi is the king of rock and roll. end of discussion. everyone go home.

  • @detectivesyme hahahahahahahahaha...hell no

  • @detectivesyme GOD! now i'm laughing

  • The best ! Elvis Presley !

  • The best yesterday, today and tomorrow! Hands down.

  • It's clear why he is called THE KING

  • An unbelievable voice. Simply amazing, never heard anything like it and doubt I ever will. I hope he is finally resting in peace.

  • Much better than Simon & Garfunkels version.

Elvis had a powerful voice and that makes the lyrics believeable. Garfunkel is hard to imagine as "bridge over troubeled water" as he sounds like suicide candidate himself.

  • @VienneseDelights - Finally a voice of reason!!! Elvis did 1000% better job on this song than Simon & Garfungus. I've been getting into to it with those jackasses in the S&G version because their bashing Elvis and I can't take that crap!!! NOBODY has a voice as awesome as the king, AMEN.

  • You cracked me up! XD he sounded like a suicidal candidate himself! XD ahahahaha..With the possible allusion to those that give up at the sight of trials and troubles or amidst them!

  • If I die that is what I want at my funeral. Then king rocks!

  • Elvis does this song wonderful touches your soul!

  • This is a magnificent song all on its own. I have to say Elvis does a more moving version than any I have heard. I would say that he is the king, but he wouldn't have liked that.

  • @JustMeOrMaybeNot that's because he doesn't need nor want worldly titles from man to be what he was meant to be naturally by God! Elvis is Elvis pure and simple no Kingship or titles needed!

  • Sounds reasonable to me.

  • On the other hand we are not talking about "King of the Universe" or "King of the World", just rock.

  • @JustMeOrMaybeNot Elvis said the King of Rock n Roll was Fats Domino!!

  • He sure did...but then again he also sais Jackie Wilson was the best singer in the world at some point. Elvis loved talented artists and was always very complimentary of his colleagues. To me Elvis was not only the King of Rock and Roll, he was the greates singer/performer in american popular music.

  • @Zecalran ; And your comment was pure, and simply beautiful. So True! I've noticed over the years that the artists of today always feel a need to proclaim themselves to be the best and/or greatest! Which Elvis never did do. If anything he downplayed the adulation bestowed upon him. There is that one infamous moment when a group of fans held up a banner that read " Elvis Is The King, " in midsong, he stopped singing and said " I'm not the king, Jesus is the king. " Too funny! Anyway, nice post.

  • they use to call him the king in the 50s too then he knew how to handle it, it didn't mean a thing to him he knew it was all apart of the hysteria and adulation of the time and only just went along with it!

  • @Zecalran That's true. And I can recall reading in one of the many books about an amusing situation between Little Richard and Elvis back in the late 50's, evidently Little Richard took issue with the stations back then declaring Elvis as the King, so, Little Richard shows up at the gates of Graceland DEMANDING to see Elvis to ' settle this once and for all, ' I'm not dissing Richard here, 4 he was like Elvis, very young at the time, But again, Elvis was bemused by it all. Could've cared less.

  • true in the 50s Elvis was more of himself and was only bemused by it! More of himelf meaning he was in his right mind!

Unfortunately in laters years he started taking it a little seriously that was in the 70s if i am correct.. that's was when his mind was being fucked up by the colonel. Under the Colonel Elvis had very little to zero peace of mind!

  • Wonderfful!!!

    I am from Brazil!!

Elvis é imortal ; lindo de corpo e alma!

    Voz inconfundível!!!!

Gosto muito do Elvis cantando músicas romanticas !!!! Demais! this is like a Dream! I love the song´s Elvis!!!!

I am from Brazil -São Paulo the best city of Brasil! Congratulations for all !

  • as an ardent 'Bridge' fan of S & G since 1969, & yep i said 1969...never thought i would listen to a version i would enjoy as much as their own, BUT gotta say Elvis adds a different dimension to it, just lovely, different not better, not worse, thanks for posting it

    xxx

  • elvis is No1 .. forever

  • and you are a looser forever, just watch your elvis and shut up your mouth, thank you.

  • AuShawster no offense but you must be one of those picky white guys that complain about everything and and looking to take people to court.

  • No offense to Simon and Garfunkel .. BOTH their voices are very weak and the production of music is way too overwhelming in comparison with ELVIS!!!

  • Bone chilling...RIP

  • Not only the best version of this song, It's the best one Elvis recorded. favorite part 4:08 till end UNBELIVABLE

  • The king of music Elvis was just to good to be true..........

  • His vocal says: i will blow your house

  • F'in fantastic! This is why he is The King and always will be.

No one will ever do a better version than this.

  • sends a shiver down your spine, the best version ever:

  • Simplesmente fantástico, Elvis imcomparável...

  • Wonderfull....

  • Great Music!

  • Wonderful performance and the best version of this song recorded by Elvis... I believe early to mid 1970...credit to Simon and Garfunkel and the original song but Elvis wins this one

  • Thanks for your intro Gibson- glad I found this version, which I totally agree is the best performance of this great song that I've ever heard. Elvis had a great raw edge to his voice on early stuff like Jailhouse Rock, or the '68 comeback special, but for me it's the beautiful and powerful deep baritone he used on ballads such as this one, that make the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Where/when was this recorded?

  • Teresa Teng rattles the windows with "Bridge Over Troubled Water," Tokyo, 1976.

  • This is an awesome song that Simon and Garfunkel wrote but Elvis took to a whole new level. The passion and power is incredible. Props to S&G but Elvis gets this one!

    Bravo

  • i completely agree with av5150.

  • johnny cashs version is really good too just to give you something to listen to..

  • not to take away from everyone else, but elvis was the man,and the beatles were the band.or to quote john lennon"before elvis, there was nothing, without elvis, there would be no beatles"

  • I SO agree with you! Elvis sang this song better than anyone! Such a powerful performance. I don't see how anyone can not be affected after hearng this...I get goosebumps everytime! Thanks for makng this video!
