Homelessness in the UK

I have friends homeless, aged between 40 and 13, it's sick, this country rejects and ignores these people because of the stereotype. People think homeless is alcoholics, drug abusers etc.the reality is that these people are like any of us, but without the luxury of being able to sleep in their own home, eat their own food, sleep in their own bed. What would you people do if you were forced into a life of sleeping the streets? Beg? It's pretty much all you can do, you can't get help with no home.

during the 60s and 70s the goverment had hostels run by dhss as it was then and called them depatrtment of social security reception centres and later renamed them department of social security resettlment centers

Young people with no future or education are breeding like rabbits today.

There is less and less chance of unskilled people finding work in this country in the future.

Thus many of these people will grow to be the homeless of the future due to no hope or means of support!

The welfare state encourages many problems not cures them.

give a thought to those on park benches, while u sit on the internet, feet up, cup of tea....not all homeless people are drunks or junkies, all of these people have different stories, we are all one pay slip away from being homeless. what gets me is the number of empty properties around just being left to rot...bring back squatters rights!

My thoughts are if you give homeless people money they most likely to spend it to feed their habbits for drink or drugs rather then buy food for them selves.

I rather NOT give money to homeless people but instead give my second hand clothes to them that i normally would give to a charity chop. This case they have something beneficial to help them- keep them extra warm and clean/washed clothing.

I think they will be more appriciate with that and it will make me feel happier too.

Yep there is enough for everyone to have the basics and more. The system creates homeless, pain and poverty. I've been homeless and it can be scary having nothing and no-one noplace to go, I had babies at the time too and just lived in my car. Empowering people means being able to access resources, physical and mental,homeless is about having f all. You are a total 'failure' in the eyes of the greedy ignorant world and can't even get warm.

If humanity shared the burden of work equally and each of us realised that whatever job we do , it is as important as the next job then abolosh wages and divided the working hours to the population as a whole, then there would be no need for a 40 hour week, the whole world could do maybe 5 hours and everyone had whatever rescources they wanted, hark I hear you say, that is communisn---maybe but without a power structure to impose it, it then becomes a big family

the trouble is that humanity has been duped into believing that we are better than the next man if we have a bigger plasma tv more trinketts and an arsehole bmw car with a big house which we only use 2/3 rooms in. We need to stop this selfishness and greed and help in anyway we can our fello man in being able to live in a civilised society instead of this evil greed culture of Im alright Jack. There is enough food and materials in this world for everyone to have what they need and want-continued

nobody should be homeless, as there are plenty of empty properties to house them all. As for I dont give money to beggars, well they are begging for a means to survive. If you dont have an address you dont get benefits, if you were o the street you would also drink as a way of deadening your brain from the horrendous situation you are in. It is time we all worked together as a family of the human race to help in any way we can with our fellow man. Continued

If you are a criminal, alcoholic or refugee, sure you get housed. If you are a decent british upstanding citizen, who works, struggle for a living, offer voluntary services, pay taxes and national insurance, you DONT get help!!! Rather, you Pay for the above!!! DER...
