In the night we wander under addition of the moon; "more," it cries as it sees the unit move, children of the eye, children of the thoughts that make the world bloom to superior. When we see from the moon, we win once but not twice until Mars' battle cry.
Was there if this is Kentish Town. Most tremendous experience of my musical life. I do not want the memory to fade - is there a DVD of the London shows/this tour anyone?
What are you people like? This is track is pure waffle! Time signature is an unambitious 4/4 or 'common time', the chord sequence repeats with two bars on each chord ad nauseam, it's in the key of 'C' i.e. 'all the white notes', it's tempo-mapped to a lifeless click-track, the two percussionists don't vary their safe accompaniment at all! And where are all those other sounds coming from - the musician's-union-paid geezers at the rear with their laptops and MIDI crutches?
And if you sell it, what good would do to you to see them anymore? Lighten up, be patient and the Univers itself will conspire in fulfilling your dreams.
In Greek mythology, the Lotophagi (Greek Λωτοφάγοι, lotus-eaters) were a race of people from an island near North Africa dominated by "lotus" plants. The lotus fruits and flowers were the primary food of the island and were narcotic and addictive, causing the people to sleep in peaceful apathy. Scholarly attempts to link the lotos with a known narcotic have never convinced a broad spectrum of readers
I watched a prgramme many moons ago about the lotus eaters being egyptian the blue lotus being taken as a ritualistic aphrodisiac wish i could remember more about it.
This is from the Odyssey... Something about the sailors started eating these magic lotus blossoms and losing their desire to return home. An early reference to drug addiction maybe?
I think I was at this gig! Didn't they play two venues in London 2005? I was definitely at one of them but I can't remember the name of the venue. Anyone want to remind me?
Yes they did. The original show at the Barbican on April 6th sold out before Christmas. That venue was not available for a second night so Brendan and Lisa performed instead at The Forum in Kentish Town on April 7th.
Thanks for the info! I saw them at The Forum in Kentish town. Which one is this video from? It looks like the The Forum venue from what I can remember, but for all I know the Barbican could have looked very similar since I've never been there.
This was recorded on April 7, 2005 at The Forum in Kentish town so this is the exact concert you saw. All of my DCD videos that I have on youtube are from the same night. I have the professionally recorded, limited edition CDs from the same night and am working on marying the CD sound with the video for the entire concert. Hopefully I'll be done by the end of summer.
Sounds like quite a task! I wanted the official CD for that night but they had sold out. However, I did manage to get hold of the Madrid CD, and I subsequently purchased a copy of the European 2005 Selection Disc, which I believe is a compilation of Brendan and Lisa's favourite picks of tour for each song.
It was a really impressive gig. All my friends and I really enjoyed it. Although the European 2005 CD's are good quality sound, I didn't think that they captured the percussion as well as they did for the album 'Toward The Within'. But I surmise that it would have been different sound mixers.
That's a fantastic idea, I hope you're having luck with it. I'd be ecstatically happy to help out if you're not, though! I'm so jealous that you were able to get one of those limited edition CD's!
Video quality is really ancillary to capturing great audio quality when it comes to live music, in my opinion. What program are you using to combine the files?
man their sound is hypnotic this is real music ive been listening to them for years
praise to DCD for being true artists and developing their unique sound. for this they have immortalized themselves with their innovative music.fav albums serpents egg, toward the within,
another very intresting group to give a listen "The Cocteau Twins" albums: treasure, pink opauqe, moon and the melodies
Ozric Tentacles, Gong, Melting Euphoria, Steve Tibbetts, Aphrodities Child(Vangelis was their keyboardist), Patrick Bernard, Eat Static, System 7 and Mother Gong are great holistic bands as well
There is no video of into the labyrinth, the only existing promo clips off that cd are yulunga and the carnival is over. perhaps you could be refering to the live dvd toward the within?

You know the truth is that WE - A R E - The Lotus Eaters.
Think about it.
We arrive to this place, partake of the pleasures / sorrows , and forget who we are. Where we have come from.
This is a paean to our Journey of the Heros.
Blessed Souls that we are!

I would pay anything to see this live.. I would sell my soul to see them perform Cantara like they did on Towards the Within live again.
I can't believe I used to need drugs to be overcome emotionally with the beauty of their music.

Seriously? You needed drugs to listen to this? or was this a substitute?

Lotus is connected with Purity.
And of course ...
Once you get there (to purity) you don t want to return to elder life.
Have a beautiful day.

I personally got it as an mp3 from a friend of mine years ago. I think he'd just gotten it from some file-sharing program.
As far as I know, it appears
- on the third disc of the "Dead Can Dance (1981-1998)" box set
and
- On the second disc of their Best of release, "Wake"
