  • Can you powder coat copper?

  • If you get a small scratch can you just pop it back in the oven let and let it flow out again? That would be the coolest

  • @tingletoess Yes you can powder coat a knife, You'll want to do it after heat treat and take into account that you'll be heating it up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and how that may affect your heat treat.

@mper900; not normally, some low temp powder can be found but it's expensive and doesn't work with all plastics.

  • I am a blade smith, and i'm currently making a knife and the customer wants me to powder coat it green. would that be possible?

  • will it work on fiberglass, glass or plastics?

  • @mper900 it'll work on anything, providing:

the part is conductive to ground

the part can be heated to atleast 400odd degrees or whatever.

  • $1.09 for gas hook me up

  • can i do this on my car

  • @butkis92Yes. Small parts can be cured in a conventional electric oven. Larger parts can be cured using our Powder-Curing Heat Lamps. Visit our website - eastwood.com - for more information.

  • what is the best way to powdercoat something yourself that is larger than an oven (e.g. fender, body parts, etc...) this sounds like something worth trying out but getting up to 400 degrees is a bit difficult when your oven isnt the size of a small box truck.

  • @Lionheartwolf135 Eastwood sells Powder Curing Lamps for parts that are too large to fit into an oven! Just visit our website - eastwood.com

  • thats awesome can u burn images on stuff somehow

  • Regarding an electric oven, what size works best for most home users? I'll be looking at used home kitchen ovens.

  • Can this kit work on all kinds of metals? like alluminum?

  • @idpFATTYs Yes this will work on aluminum parts just fine. Hope that helps!

  • @idpFATTYs But you would have to etch it first cos powder wouldnt stick! Im a powder coater myself

  • @blinkboy1820 When you say etch you mean like take a drimmel and scrape it up a bit?

  • @idpFATTYs No its like a wet paint you spray because the alluminum doesnt have a positve charge you need to put like a wet primer on first.

  • Who thought this was going to be Clint Eastwood?

  • Great but where can i buy the kit I live in United kingdom desperate to get started

    !!!!HELP!!!!! Please

  • so what happens to the powder particles that stick to the grate (piece that the work sits on)

  • @phoenixwinch They are baked onto the rack. Most people just have a dedicated rack for spraying and baking parts on. Hope that helps!

  • do you have to put a clear coat on it

  • @lugia58 You do not have to put a clear coat on the powder. But some of colors do look much better with a clear coat applied. It also adds another level of protection. Hope that helps!

  • Eastwood by far makes the best quality stuff ive ever used!

  • How would this work with hockey cages?

  • Finally a powder coating video that actually taught me something thank you

  • what temp will the powder coat hold up to? as far as a engine block?will it flake off?say a chevy small block that operate's at 200 degree's or more?

  • @151bigblock

you can get high temp powders, the same as paint, if you use a normal everyday powder coat yes it will flake/soften/peel off

but use a high temp paint it will be fine, i have done this with my motorbike engine and exhaust! been holding up well for atleast 6 months!

  • i have a craftsman powder coat gun never used it i was thinking about making a purchase on your eastwood site for the powder,i would like to coat some chassi parts.

  • curious, how would you remove this stuff if you ever ever needed to?

  • @heavyweight328 We actually sell a Powder coat and paint dissolver just for that task. Check it out on our site!

  • I am going to buy a powder coat system but I don't know wish system it is good, I will use it for personal use. please let me know. It is for mechanic stuff

  • I don;t have an oven big enuff for my wheels, can I use a barbeque pit???

  • @matrox I don't have a spare oven or barbeque pit. Will a waffle iron work?

  • Don't buy this kit, I powder coated a police officer & went to jail for murder, wtf??

  • can i powder coat my scooter bars

and can u by it in a can

  • @constantinides11 no..it comes in a bucket or a box

depending on what colour u want

  • @constantinides11 If it doesn't degrade at 400F and you can fit it in an oven available to you, yes.

  • mmm mmm honey watcha bakin in the oven? oh yea i'll be sleepin on the couch. I wish I had an oven big enough to do a motorcycle frame. cool stuff.

  • Is it possible to powder coat a metal on to a metal part. Basically pitting chrome or nickel on something

  • not with powder coating but there is a chemical spray method for "plateing" chrome. But your looking for plateing metal not powder coating.

  • Will this work on aluminum?

  • It sure will!! Just lower the temperature.

  • Yes it will, under special circumstances. The aluminum needs to be cleaned in a special manner, usually a 5 stage wash process, involving acids and regular de ionized water.

  • EASTWOOD:

I couldnt find a way to contact you on your site, i need a new arming buttion for my hot coat system, mine broke the other week, please contact me and give me a email that i can email you at so i can buy a new button please!!!

  • i disagree with him,it is possible to put on too much powder and powder coat will run if too much is applied and also depending on the pigment of the paint.

  • I agree, I've been powder coating for years and I guarantee you that you can get runs & drips by applying too much powder.

  • im glad you agree with me..

  • i disagree with you i usually overkill on powder and i get beautiful finishes with no run or drips. you just got to know what your doing. i consider myself a pro..its ok you guys will learn soon.

  • Runs & drips!!! This ain't a liquid. The worst i ever seen is 'orange peel'

  • @iLoveOlivaMunn is it possible on small home jobs to collect the over spray for re-use?

  • i belive with the right types of wood it is very probable, deepends on grains

  • @BloodTar Do you not have to put a clear top coat over the first coat?

  • @carlocardillo yes, but not as easily with liquid paint

  • with this kind of equipment, paints powder strongly metallic..can cause defects in the uniformity of metal parts of the coated surface?

about the kiln, the emission of polymerized powder coat are dangerous at home?

  • Best if you get it blasted first

  • but if you dont clean it the end result is not too bad if your not big on quality plus like anything its life span is only about 5 years so after that time it will need replacing anyway.

  • what if I'd wanna paint stuff that has paint on it already and some rust?

  • you would have to clean it with either grinder sander sand blaster or what ever it would come out screwd up if you dint cleen it
